I see Elon Musk is buying Twitter 🐦

I haven’t tweeted in a year and a half because I’m much too vulgar and hang out with the wrong kind of folk on the Twitter. Plus I suffer from a bad case of foot in mouth disease and I have a big shots job so I stay away. Gotta make that money to spend it on gasoline and all the toys.

I still do Facebook but I’ve blocked all of the politicians and news reporters so all I see is posts about wildlife, farming, big jacked up trucks, off grid shit, hunting and fishing and non controversial shit like that. I kind of like the taste of diesel smoke, silage and hay. I did get blocked from stupid off grid group for criticizing one of those luxury cabins, pointing out that nobody lives that way – most of life is lived in the mud and muck – things are rusty and broken. After all, my heroes all smell a little like cow shit and burn their own trash.

But what can I say, I’m a vulgur SOB. 🀬

Daily Update – April 14, 2022

Good morning! Happy Thursday. πŸ‡

It’s the Thursday before Good Friday, rain later though. That’s why I’m not heading out of town tonight plus I don’t like fighting traffic. Come my next trip, I may get up early, park in a Schenectady Park and Ride lot and go from there, depending on how things go.

Partly cloudy and 56 degrees in Delmar, NY. β›… Calm wind. The dew point is 48 degrees. The skies will clear around 7 am.

Warm enough this morning 🌸 that they are talking about the dew point which is expected to rise as the mercury drops as the front approaches with rain expected by evening. β˜” I got propane and groceries on Tuesday specifically for that reason.

While I have no plans set in stone, πŸ’ I’m thinking tomorrow morning heading out of town for at least a night maybe a few nights. β›Ί I like nights in the wilderness a lot although Saturday looks awful wet. πŸ’¦ Leaning towards Central NY where I can hit up some trout steams 🎣 although I wouldn’t mind finding somewhere that I can do some shooting. πŸ”«

There is a few more things I need to pickup β›½ and gas my truck in the morning but I want to leave pretty early as Friday will be the nicest day. Due to being spring, many seasonal roads are closed but they would be good for hiking with binoculars as most trails are likely soaked. πŸ‘’

I’m thinking πŸ’ about taking Monday off, but it hasn’t happened yet. The other director is in the office then so it should work out. 🐰 I won’t be home for Easter but too bad. I’d rather do a four day weekend.

How to deal with Shapefiles missing Projection information in QGIS

How to deal with Shapefiles missing Projection information in QGIS πŸ—Ί

Your best bet is to find the proper projection system by including the prj file in the same directory as the shapefile. If not available, try looking for the projection information (EPSG code) from where you got the file or the included XML meta data which can be opened in your web browser.

As a last resort, you can use QGIS Find Projection tool (use the Type to locate box in the lower left) after loading the shapefile to get potential projections. That won’t get you one answer but will narrow down the options. Be aware that using the wrong datum with the right coordinate system will introduce small errors in the projection – often a couple hundred meters or less, so if things are slightly off try a different datum. But try to find the official projection from the prj or xml file.

Store your own data as geopackages to avoid lost prj files and future projection issues.
