Weather Update – November 20, 2021

I should definitely head out to Five Rivers early today ๐Ÿฆ

Before the clouds push in later. Maybe in the afternoon go to the library, after all it’s getting dark around 4:30 now. Helps break up the evening and I could get some data to use with maps or R programming — though I have the hotspot on my phone, it’s the first week of the data cycle, so I don’t want to use too much. By Friday of next week, we will be closest to the earliest sunset of the year.

Good Morning – November 20, 2021

Good morning! Happy Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone ๐ŸฆŒ !

Cold but clear start to the deer season this week. Today is going to be cool one but that’s to be expected during the third Saturday of November each year. Thursday is Thanksgiving with a week from Tuesday being December.

Sunny and 25 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. Things will start to thaw out at around 8 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

It’s even a bit cold in my apartment this morning, โ„๏ธ although I guess that’s to be expected this time of year. I could turn up the heat but it’s not that bad and it’s going to warm up. I expect higher heating bills this year, so keeping the heat down as long as possible isn’t a bad thing.

This morning I’ll probably walk out to Five Rivers ๐Ÿฆ and see what is out and about on this cold mid-November. I could run to the store for a few missing supplies, but I’ll probably skip that until tomorrow morning when I run to shop to get the new tires installed. Sunday I’ll head out to the folks house after getting the tires and some groceries. Monday, Big Red gets inspected.

I need to look at getting a new battery charger for my digital camera ๐Ÿ“ท as since my vacation I’ve been unable to charge camera batteries, so I haven’t been able to take any high quality photos. While I don’t expect to be doing a lot of traveling the next few weeks, you never know when the opportunity presents yourself. I would for example like to do some winter camping in December.

George Gasc๏ฟฝn Is Remaking Criminal Justice in L.A. How Far Is Too Far? – The New York Times

The new breed of district attorney threatens a deeply entrenched system, with tentacles in multiple agencies and the backing of many of the police officers, judges, rank-and-file prosecutors and probation and parole officers who determine what justice, or at least law enforcement, actually means day to day. Some of those insiders stiffly resisted the calls for change. When Larry Krasner took over the district attorney’s office in Philadelphia in 2017, more than 100 lawyers and employees walked out the door; Krasner also dismissed 31 others. (Gasc?n, by contrast, couldn’t clean house: In Los Angeles, prosecutors have the rare benefit of civil-service protections and a union.)
