Idaho Living Group! πŸ₯”

I recently joined a few different Idaho Living groups on Facebook. Not because I’m necessarily planning to move to Idaho tomorrow but I want to learn more about the state, it’s customs and it’s way of life. I’ve become interested in Idaho mostly by following off-grid Youtube channels, namely Imagine Acre Wood, North Country Off-Grid, and the Idaho Hillbilly.

Idaho definitely has some benefits — it’s live and let live culture — good gun laws, less zoning and property codes, pro-farming, less restrictions on fires and open burning outside of the fire season. There is a lot of remote wild country up that way, great mountains and vast open spaces. Nobody is going to care if you make some noise or smoke, have some smelly and noisy livestock, or have some fun your land.

So it’s interesting to learn more about living out west.

June 29, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Cloudy and 66 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. The dew point is 63 degrees. The skies will clear Thursday around 1 am. Not going to be a particularly nice week this week.

Noisy this morning with them mowing the grass 🌾 down the way. The noise pollution was something I did not miss when I was up in the Adirondacks. Maybe and two weeks I’ll go back up to the Adirondacks or somewhere else to travel. It looks like if I want to go to Central NY again most of the camping area out that way are open again. β›Ί

Today will have a slight chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 10am. Some of the storms could produce small hail and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 78 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 16th. Maximum dew point of 65 at 2pm. Light northwest wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 87 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1944.

Today I want to get to the laundromat πŸ‘• and buy groceries. πŸπŸŽπŸ” I also would like to get to the library and upload some of the photos that I took over the past weekend. As I noted last night, I am going to see what my work schedule looks like today and if I will be working downtown anytime soon before deciding what’s next with getting that occasional noise in my truck fixed. I might also want to do some more research. I am probably going to take it to Watkins Spring, but that’s a pain with the buses not running the full schedule and me not working downtown.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.6Β° from the due south horizon (-0.2Β° vs. 6/21). At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and thunderstorms 🌩 and temperatures around 74 degrees. The dew point will be 63 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 16 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 34 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be scattered showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 63 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 6pm. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 64 degrees. The record low of 47 occurred back in 1938.

On this day in 2006, in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld the U.S. Supreme Court rules that President George W. Bush’s plan to try Guantanamo Bay detainees in military tribunals violates U.S. and international law. I do remember that day pretty well, it was something we discussed in college and I was involved in protesting back in Albany. Fortunately, the days of George W. Bush are long gone, although we can remember the good ol’ days before Trump.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Maximum dew point of 63 at 8am. Sunday, Typical average high for the weekend is 82 degrees. I am going to probably stay in town this weekend, although who knows I might tent camp at one of the local state forests. I think I probably will have Friday off as a holiday, but it’s not in the system yet. I am going to see how well Big Red is working, and I might change my mind based on how things go and what the final forest looks like.
