When is ohm’s law not applicable? – Quora

When is ohm’s law not applicable? – Quora

With all this talk of suspending laws and enacting Enabling Acts, did you know one of the fundamental laws of electricity - Ohm's Law often suspended for broad areas. Diodes, which include solar panels and LED lighting for example often violate ohm's law.

Ohm's law is basically not a fundamental law which means it has exceptions.

Ohm's law is an empirical law which means it is stated based on some observations.Though it works most of the time there are indeed cases where ohm's law do not satisfactorily explain certain phenomena. One example is an incandescent light bulb. The tungsten filament in the bulb does not follow Ohm's law. As the voltage in the wire filament increases it heats up. The resistance of a wire changes as its temperature changes. Hence the graph of the current and voltage in the wire will curve. The light bulb filament violates Ohm's law.

Often if extreme currents are applied to wires, they heat up, change their resistances, and violate Ohm's law. There exist many conductors in nature which do not obey ohm's law. They are known as non-ohmic conductors. For such conductors, the graph between potential difference and currentis not a straight line passing through origin.

Vacuum tubes, semiconductors, transistors, liquid electrolytes, thermistors, etc are examples of non ohmic conductors.Circuits which consist of these non ohmic conductors are called non ohmic circuits or non linear circuits.

March 22, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Two weeks to Palm Sunday 🌴. I wonder if things will be back to normal enough by then for churches to be giving out the palms? Sunny, cold and 21 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 There is a north breeze at 9 mph. πŸƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌑️ Cold start to morning, snow and rain on Monday.

That Claritin D has helped a lot with my sometimes modestly runny nose πŸ‘ƒ. I feel a lot better today than yesterday morning. I kind of thought it was just allergies – I took a sleeping pill πŸ’Š earlier in the week and felt great from the antihistamines in that but once they wore off I felt miserable. But I’m still taking precautions as I want to hold off getting COVID-19 until after the quarantines are over – and hopefully a vaccine or better anti-virals are available. If I must get sick I’d rather go to the doctor, pay $25 for the visit and $10 for something at the pharmacy and feel fantastic and full of energy in two days. 😷

I am heading down to the laundromat first thing this morning to wash my clothes. πŸ‘š Hope to beat the crowds. After that I’ll figure out what to do next – I’ll probably come home and have breakfast. 🍳 Not sure on my plans for the afternoon, I might go out to Partridge Run and hike on the old roads until dusk. πŸŒ† Once I’m done with the laundromat I should be done going out in public for the rest of the week, so I can continue my social distancing πŸ‘€ that the politicians are so enthralled with.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 41 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 9th. North wind 6 to 9 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 2012. I remember that day well, it was even warmer in Newburgh. 7 inches of snow fell back in 1887.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:03 pm with sun having an altitude of 48.3Β° from the due south horizon (-22.6Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:33 pm with the sun in the west (266Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in almost the due west (272Β°) starting at 7:08 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:38 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:12 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a east-northeast breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 12 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over today.

Tonight will have increasing clouds ☁, with a low of 25 degrees at 2am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 15th. Northeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming south after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of -4 occurred back in 1875.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Palm Sunday 🌴 when the sun will be setting at 7:26 pm with dusk at 7:55 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 42 and 25 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 54 degrees. We hit a record high of 82 back in 1928.
