Embedded Podcast on White Nationalism.

I got listening to the Embedded podcast about Extremism and White Nationalism

And it got me thinking about what’s wrong with the dialogue around White Pride and identity politics today. There is nothing wrong with being a proud of your community and it’s accomplishments, but hatred of other communities is illegitimate and should be strongly discouraged and re-directed.

Hatred – directed towards others
... is different then
love – directed towards one’s own community.

America is a nation of diversity. There are many different communities with different values. Some you may agree with, others you may not. You might look down at the practices of other communities, but you really shouldn’t. If their actions aren’t impacting your community, then you really shouldn’t have a say in it. But that is a value that doesn’t seem to get much coverage these days, in the era of cable news and social media.

There are many communities I don’t really know much about. I don’t live in a big city, I am not black, I am not an immigrant, nor do I work in manufacturing or construction. But I don’t look down on those people, nor do I have much thought or commentary about how they live in their community. I am concerned about my own community, my future, and my own life. People from all communities should be active and engaged, doing what is right for themselves, and marketing ideas best for their own communities — while keeping in mind that their own actions impact others.

I think extremism could be redirected by most emphasis on cultural diversity, while not saying one’s own culture is bad or oppressive. Celebrations of farmers, construction workers, businessman, belong in the same celebration of Italians, Black and Hispanics. Diversity is a strength, not a weakness, and just because a group is on the top of the heap now doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a legacy of organizing and fighting to the top of the pile. Just because your a Democrat doesn’t mean you can’t respect President Trump as a human being has done the most exceptional thing – won the presidency, the highest office in the nation, a feat only achieved by 45 people in our nation’s history.

November 30, 2019 Afternoon

Mostly clear and 36 degrees at the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. Nice and quiet down here by the Vlomans Kill but the breeze does make it a bit cool. 💨

Nice to be out in the woods although they’re a lot of people at Five Rivers but few where I am right now. I do wish I was up in the Adirondacks or maybe drove out to Partridge Run but I didn’t want to bother the deer hunters putting food on the table for their family. I do love 😍 the rural and remote country out by Huntersland 🌲🌳🌲, I might go skiing 🎿 out there come the winter. Just too much noise and people in the city.

I do love that landscape way out in the country behind Rensselaerville State Forest and Partridge Run. 🌲🌲🌲The lonely houses, 🏡 the smell of the horses and the cows 🐴 and wood smoke. It’s like transitioning back to an earlier time. A lot of beautiful country and people out that way. Reminds me of growing up in Westerlo. 🚜

The Adirondacks probably wasn’t a practical option after all, 🗻 it would have been very cold today and especially tonight with the mercury having a run towards zero. It may start snowing tomorrow early and I’m already tired 😴 of winter driving.

Plus I’m feeling the Lyme symptoms again 🎯in the cold. I feel a bit achy in the cold. But it’s nice being away for a little while out for my walk before dark. 🚶 Heading to my parents house for Sunday dinner a day early, going to wash the truck in the morning and park it in its winter spot.

November 30, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Small Business Saturday 🛍️! Getting my hair cut. Three weeks to First Day of Winter β˜ƒοΈ. Mostly sunny and 31 degrees at Dons Barber Shop. There is a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. Kind of a cold but clear winter day. I know it’s only going to get colder come real winter. But I’m not ready to accept winter yet.

Getting my hair cut 💈 this morning, then I’m going to run to the store and get toilet paper 🚽 and drain cleaner and other supplies for the week. Little things but I’ll be glad once the bathroom sink is working properly and I don’t feel like a long haired hippie. 💇

I‘m thinking about going to Walmart tomorrow and washing the truck 🛀 tomorrow before parking 🅿 it for the snow storm. I really need to get a replacement cradle for my phone in my truck and I don’t want to wait for AliExpress. 📱While I’m there I’ll also pick up some bulk containers of drain solvent – bigger than the one I have now because I find at least once a month I need some drain solvent in the bathroom sink to keep it working well. And that’s with a hair stopper on all the drains. Plumbing in rental apartments are always shitty at least the cheap place I live in.

The Doxycline seems to make me feel incredibly sick at times 💊 after I first take it in the morning on the an empty stomach. For a few minutes this morning I felt like I was going to puke over the floor. Also I had a headache again for a while this morning. Took some Tylenol this morning and I’m feel better. Not sure if that’s Lyme or the poor air quality in my musty and moldy apartment.

If I didn’t like how the apartment was on the bus line 🚏and relatively cheap 💸, I’d consider a nicer place. But I’d probably make a mess of it. I’m a dirty hick 💩 at heart β™₯ so I’d make any place I live in a mess. Maybe that’s why I like wilderness and agriculture so much, 🐮 it’s not that neat and orderly and contains lots of mud and manure.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 37 degrees at 1pm. If it even reaches that. I know soon we’ll have days when the mercury struggles to reach zero and my apartments weak heating system will be cold. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 11th. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 67 was set in 1933. 7.1 inches of snow fell back in 1972.❄

Still chewing over my plans for the afternoon although it is pretty cold ❄ and I didn’t get a real early start. 🚶 Maybe I’ll just go for a nature walk at Five Rivers 🐸. That would be a nice thing to do this afternoon. I don’t want to go too far but I’m planning to have the truck out because I’m planning on going to the folks house for Sunday dinner.

I’ve gotten Adam Danforth’s book about Butchering Livestock out of the library. 🐽 It caught my eye with all of big pictures of animals being harvested 🚜 and it has a lot of interesting background on animal physiology and what goes into a good cut of meat 🍖. Usually the only meat I process myself is up in the woods and I just burn the entrails.

The sun will set at 4:23 pm with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 23 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 29 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 16 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 30th. Maximum wind chill around 18 at 3am; Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Camping up north even with the heated tent 🎪 would have been pretty darn cold. But it’s a nice day with the sun β˜€ even if it is cold by my standards. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of -5 occurred back in 1875.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until First Day of Winter β˜ƒοΈ when the sun will be setting at 4:24 pm with dusk at 4:56 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 32 and 21 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 34 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1957.
