NASA posts photo of the sun looking like a giant flaming jack-o’-lantern – CNN

(CNN) If you thought the super blood wolf moon was scary, you haven't seen what the sun is capable of. NASA on Sunday shared a photo on Facebook and Twitter of the sun looking a lot like a giant flaming jack-o'-lantern. Why does the sun get sunspots? Why does the sun get sunspots? The space agency captured the spooky image on October 8, 2014. The face is the result of active regions of the sun burning more brightly than others, NASA said.

Living Full-Time in a Toyota Tacoma

Living Full-Time in a Toyota Tacoma

I had no interest in vans. I wanted a vehicle that I could get into trouble with, and I was happy sacrificing comfort for it. So I invested in a 2015 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab and added a three-inch lift and all-terrain tires. Tacomas are the pinnacle of reliability, and when they eventually break down, their parts are close to universal. Almost any small-town mechanic can fix one.

Next I took the hardest step toward truck life: giving my stuff away. Pretty much all of it. Many vanlifers keep a storage unit filled with valuable possessions, but this contradicted my dream of simplicity. My closest friends were rewarded for it like kings. I limited myself exclusively to stuff that fit in the truck, from camping gear to books, tools, electronics, and a small kitchen. As I’ve progressively optimized for longer out-of-office e-mail and fewer showers, I’ve gotten more judicious about what comes along.

West To Cannaan Ridge

The diversity of ecosystems and elevations made hiking at Dolly Sods remarkably beautifuil.

Dolly Sods Road

Dolly Sods Road, straight as an arrow part of the way through Dolly Sods, reminds me of a true wilderness, like you might in Alaska or Idaho. It is always terribly washboard, because of the high elevation means it often dry. Strangely enough, parts of Dolly Sods are quite soggy because storms hit the east side of the Allegheny Front quite hard but the actual top of the front is quite dry as water quickly runs off it.

Spotlight News – DEC proposes to remove bald eagle from β€œthreatened” list

Eastern Hellbender will be increased in protection from special concern to threatened species, while the Bald Eagle will no longer be threatened but will be of special concern. I think this is good from a species protection perspective -- we should only be protecting those needed to be protected, and adding and removing species based on their recovery or loss.
