Mapping and the Blog.

As you may have noticed,ย the past few days I’ve been posting new and updated maps.ย ๐Ÿ—บย I was having some issues with my QGIS/Python code with the QGIS 3.0 version that cropped up after I had ported it over, so I hadn’t been making maps for a while — and honestly it’s summer and I’ve been busy.

I’mย also running out of state land to map in New York,ย ๐ŸŒฒย and I’m thinking about next doing some more Vermont/Green Mountain National Forest maps, but that requires me to get obtain the latest Vermont OpenStreetMap data,ย ๐Ÿฎย and probably update the trail and federal land boundaries, assuming the data is available. That’s a bunch of steps, so it will likely wait until the autumn or winter when I have more time to get the data together.

I would like to also map the parts of West Virginiaย in a higher-quality then the maps I posted last autumn, but I don’t have much West Virginia data on my computer.ย ๐Ÿ’ปย It’s out there, but it would have to be downloaded piece by piece, then uploaded into my PostGIS database,ย ย and the style files built. I also don’t know the Monongehella National Forest as well as some other areas, and without other maps to back up my knowledge of the forest, it’s a bit hard to make good quality maps.
