Hi! love your website, my partner and i use it often to plan for camping trips. I was hoping you’d be able to tell me your favorite drive up campsite in the lake kushaqua area. we prefer free, primitive sites to crowded campgrounds.
what site has the best views? what site would be a good base camp for nearby hikes? any information would be greatly appreciated πŸ™‚ thanks!

I like the site by the White Fathers Church, but be aware the road is steep and rutted down to the campsite right on the lake. 4×4 recommended.

Hello, are these campsites first come fist serve and is there a time limit to length of stay? Also if coming from dannemora what is the best way to access the mud pond/kushaqua rd? Tia!!

    • Andy says:

The sites are first-come first-serve. For stays over 3 nights in one campsite, you will need to get a free permit. Call 518-897-1300 to get the name and contact information for the local ranger.
