Earlier tonight I was looking at an advertisement for trash bags made out of “ocean bound plastic”

Earlier tonight I was looking at an advertisement for trash bags made out of “ocean bound plastic”. The whole concept seems patently absurd — in much of world there isn’t much strategic dumping of waste plastic into the ocean. Recovery from plastics, from the ocean, seems kind of a joke too, as any resin is likely highly contaminated with dirt and debris, to say nothing of the damage to the material from salt and sunlight. All things that video I posted earlier confirms. Like so many green-marketing products these days, it’s pretty much a scam.

Daily Update – July 3, 2022

Good afternoon! Nice day for a hike.

Sunny and 75 degrees at the Pittstown State Forest. 🌞 There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 48 degrees.

A pretty nice day for a hike in the woods. 🚢 Decided to check out the scenery up at Pittstown State Forest this afternoon, especially the newer Grumhan Parcel with the great views of the valley below. Very clear day, with low humidity, though a lot of haze in the distance. And kind of buggy.

I thought about hammock camping πŸ• tonight but I’ll probably just head home. I sleep 😴 better in my own bed. The thing is I left my hammock in the truck and I parked a ways from the forest as I wasn’t sure how rough the access road would be or if there would be trees 🌲down on the road. But quite clear and nice. I also don’t really have anything with me for breakfast or dinner. Very dry and windy so I wouldn’t want to risk a fire πŸ”₯. Maybe later in the summer.

I noticed a bit of a squeak in one of my wheels on the truck β• so I’ll have to decide if I need to get it into the shop this week. I decided not to drive up all the way to the trail head, in part because I didn’t want to beat a wheel bearing too hard. Which is too bad, as I was hoping I could keep my truck away from the shop. Or maybe it’s nothing new, I just had the windows down.  But still it is concerning. Not sure with the 4-day weekend if I can get my truck into the shop.
