February 8, 2023 Evening

Good evening! Mostly clear and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒƒ There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 10 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ Everything is dry so that doesn’t matter but the air feels chilly already.

Halfway or technically 3/5th the way through the work week. ๐Ÿข Final session day of the week so it’s back to the express bus ๐Ÿš tomorrow. Ag Tiktok keeps me entertained on the local, especially for the evening commute which always seems long but not flipping through videos involving dirt, diesel and cattle. It’s remarkable how fast time goes past when doing that.

Tonight will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a low of 26 degrees at 6am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 15th. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1934.

It’s not a bad evening for the evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but a bit cool and dark without the moonlight this evening. Maybe if I walked later. Cloudy nights are often brighter with light pollution from the city. ๐ŸŒƒ

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon with 90% illuminated. The moon will rise at 8:15 pm. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:33 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:03 am in the east-southeast (110ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 6 seconds.

Tonight I baked up potatoes ๐Ÿฅ” that I got at the farmers market, topped with onions from the farmers market I got two weeks ago and some cheese ๐Ÿง€. Made a full pan up and refrigerated the rest for future use. Pretty good.

Sunrise is one minute and 14 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:43 am with sun in the east-southeast (117ยฐ). Tonight will have 13 hours and 39 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 34 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of rain and snow before 10am, then rain. ๐ŸŒง High of 40 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 3rd. Light south wind increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 57 was set in 1925. 13.7 inches of snow fell back in 1906.โ„

With the rain โ˜” coming, I’ll have to try and get my steps done early tomorrow. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ I guess whatever. It’s no going to sunny every day โ˜€ though I enjoyed the sun in my office especially in the afternoon. Been a very gray winter.

In four weeks on March 8 the sun will be setting in the west (264ยฐ) at 5:54 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 35 minutes and 18 seconds later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 36 and 10 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 42 and 24 degrees. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2012.

Looking ahead, tommorow is , March ๐ŸŒจ is in 3 weeks, Ides of March โœ is in 5 weeks, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 13 weeks, Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€ is in 14 weeks, 8:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ is in 4 months, Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 19 weeks, Hottest Time of the Year ๐Ÿ˜… is in 21 weeks, Dog Days of Summer ๐ŸŒป is in 21 weeks, Average High Falls To 79 ๏ธDegrees โ›ฑ๏ธ๏ธ๏ธ is in 29 weeks, More Night then Day ๐ŸŒŒ is in 33 weeks, Last Sunset After 6:30 PM ๐ŸŒ† is in 34 weeks, Average High is 65 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 8 months, Average High is 55 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 38 weeks, November ๐Ÿฅง is in 38 weeks, Day After Election Day ๐Ÿ›€ is in 9 months and Saint Nicholas Day ๐ŸŽ… is in 43 weeks.

STATESMEN are gamesters, and the people are the cards they play with. And it is curious to see how good the comparison holds as to all the games, the shuffling, and the tricks performed with them sort of books, as they are sometimes called. From "three up" to "whist" from a "constable" to a "president" the hands are always dealing out; and in both cases, the way they cut and shuffle is a surprise to all young beginners.

The present "government" has been a great sportsman in his time; and he has played at both games with equal success: and not content with his own good luck, he is actually giving item in favour of another, and has so shuffled and stocked the cards, that unless we can cut the pack in the right place, he will turn up a Jack upon the country.

I have gone far enough on this hook to show what I mean: the people are tricked and cheated, and what is worse, they are satisfied to stay so. If any one tells them that they are used by political 4 gamblers as a blacksmith uses his tongs, they fly into a passion and say it is all a trick to abuse Jackson. If you ask them what it is that makes Van Buren fit for a president, and why it is that General Jackson has appointed him for his successor, they answer, "he has been persecuted for Jackson's sake." Jackson, they say, has done enough, not only to reign himself as long as he wants to, but to say who shall reign after him. But the good of this joke is, these same people call themselves democratic republicans! Republicans! unable to choose for themselves, and consenting to give that right to a single individual. What think you of that?
