June 29, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 69 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a north breeze at 7 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 63 degrees. The skies will clear Wednesday around 6 pm.

All day there was a pretty good threat of downpours β˜” but except for one mid day not too much rain. I got everything I needed done for the day – groceries, laundry, library books and updating the blog. 🍏 Work was pretty quiet so I just brought my laptop down to the laundromat and worked there. πŸ‘š I started reading this book about cabin life tonight πŸ“– and caught up on the YouTube videos that I had downloaded.

Tonight will be scattered showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then isolated showers. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 63 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 63 at 9pm. North wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 64 degrees. The record low of 47 occurred back in 1938.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous πŸŒ” Moon with 70% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the south (190Β°) at an altitude of 39Β° from the horizon, some 226,647 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. πŸš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by December 18th. Buckle up for safety! πŸ’Ί The Buck 🦌 Moon is on Saturday, July 4. The darkest hour is at 1:00 am, followed by dawn at 4:47 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:21 am in the east-northeast (57Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 28 seconds. Sunrise is 29 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:04 am with sun in the east-northeast (64Β°). Tonight will have 8 hours and 44 minutes of darkness, an increase of 35 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be scattered showers before noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between noon and 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 80 degrees at 3pm. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 25th. Maximum dew point of 64 at 7am. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1964.

I decided the noise I heard from the truck while disconcerting 🚘 doesn’t warrant immediate attention as I think it’s just the new ball joints complaining at the more extreme steering angles but they’re going to just do that. That’s part of the lifted truck. I’m not noticing any further issues so I don’t think they’re is anything to repair but I’ll talk to the shop that did the lift kit once I’m working downtown again if things get worse. I just don’t want things to break in the wilderness if I can avoid it and likewise I’d rather not spend money fixing a noise that’s going to exist regardless. πŸ”§

I’ve been thinking about my next trip. β›Ί I’m kind of tired of the Adirondacks and seeing that Cherry Ridge and Long Pond State Forest Camping areas are open again that might be my next trip. Maybe go swimming at the Glimmerglass beach? 🏊 Never been to that park in the summer.

I am thinking for summer vacation to do a Western Adirondacks and Tug Hill trip this year, 😎 and maybe spend some time exploring the Saint Lawrence County state forests. I haven’t put in any time yet for summer vacation but maybe I’ll do late July or early August.

In four weeks on July 27 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (297Β°) at 8:20 pm,πŸŒ„ which is 16 minutes and 22 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot, mostly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 88 and 61 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 62 degrees. The record high of 97 degrees was set back in 1955.
