March 26, 2018 Night

Good evening! Clear and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. It’s downright hot on the bus heading home. They really have that heat cranked. But it will cool off later. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 11 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

Tonight will be clear 🌞 , with a low of 21 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal. Light and variable wind. Definitely need the heat on for at least a few more days. In 2017, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 11 occurred back in 1975.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 78% illuminated. The moon will set at 4:40 am. The Blue Moon 🌕 is on Friday night with a chance of rain. The sun will rise at 6:46 am with the first light at 6:18 am, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 11 hours and 29 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞 , with a high of 49 degrees at 3pm. Typical for March 27th. Light southeast wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.❄

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 49. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees. It looks like we are returning to a fairly normal weather pattern for late March. Out like a lamb. But not summer yet. But maybe in another month.

I do think that traveling and camping season is not that far away. β›ΊMaybe winter has one more snow storm left in it, and I’ll probably be too busy with work to travel the next few weeks but eventually those nice spring evenings will return.

In four weeks on April 23 the sun will be setting at 7:47 pm,🌄 which is 31 minutes and 55 seconds later then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 70 and 35 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 62 and 40 degrees. The record high of 87 degrees was set back in 2007.

AliExpress’ big sale is later in the week. 👜There are a handful of basic electronic components👓 I’m thinking about buying later in the week to build out my kit. I see a limit of $10 but I might end up spending closer to $20.

AliExpress is cheap but I’m always broke. Never have even like ten dollars in my budget to spare. I want to build several more things like signs that I can hang up and around.🔦 My goal is to learn as much as I can about basic electronics and electricity over the next few years. Not fancy complicated computers but the basic principles of electricity and simple microcontroller. Besides the AVR and ESP32, I was reading about the PIC microchip. So many interesting embedded microchips I’m learning about. Many things I could build if I spent the time.

I got out of work at eight and are taking the 8:15 home. 🏀Pretty smooth commute although the bus was a few minutes late due to the March Madness Basketball game. 🚌 I don’t have much planned for the rest of the evening, I might just go to bed once I’m done with dinner. 💤More long nights will pass before they have a budget deal. While that’s not really my department, they keep us there in case of press needs. 🍺 If it was a little warmer, I’d be out back drinking beer but I do need to get some beer and things need to warm up another 10-15 degrees in the evening.

I got to get to work earlier tomorrow. My boss may not have been in the office this morning but everything was such a rush this morning coming in. 😧 I just had trouble getting going this morning and ended up missing my usual bus. I should try to get going quicker tomorrow.

Darn spider plant has gotten really top heavy in recent weeks,🌾 and I’ve accidentally knocked it over twice in the past two weeks, spilling shards of dried leaves everywhere.😼 I think I need to spend a little time pruning it back, it’s gotten a little out of control. 🍂Maybe tomorrow. They no longer have a vacuum cleaner in the office which makes it a bit harder to clean up.🧹 Maybe I should bring in a broom later on in the week when I’m driving in for the late night.

I am looking forward to camping season returning. 🎑I was only half joking about enjoying sleeping in my truck bed and being able to flip down the tailgate to take a piss. 🚽I’ve done that many times before and it sure beats having to wander downstairs to the toilet and aim accurately. Big advantage to camping season. I love sitting next to a roaring campfire, cooking using the Coleman oven, and just looking up at the stars on a mild summer night. I’m glad the truck cap lights are working again but I do hope to add that solar panel sometime over the next few weeks to the roof of my truck.

I was watching some more YouTube videos this evening about off grid living. Really interesting stuff, many people do it different ways. 📺Some people have very nice cabins and homes others have run down trailers. Different people have different ways of living, different communities have different codes.👪👭👬 Some farm, many hunt and fish. Some have hot water and big fancy solar systems others are much more minimal. I don’t care about having a lot of power or even a flush toilet necessarily but before I would move in I’d insist on a hot shower and some way to control the mud.🚜 Farms and the wilderness are muddy places but I’d insist on being able to get clean before heading out to my truck.
