June 13, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 58 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. A bit chilly this evening.

So today I pretty much stayed close to home. 🐦 Did some bird watching and nature walking at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center and worked on my laptop a bit uploading the fixes to the blog. Got groceries at the sprawling Shop Rite – they have a lot more choices and different things that Aldi buy its so much more walking past crap you don’t want and navigating the aisles during a pandemic when you want to be in and out as fast as possible.

Been reading up and refreshing my memory on the money supply 💵 and the velocity of money. 📈 Basically the federal reserve is buying assets left and right to flood the market with money to keep interest rates low but because most wealthy people are just sticking the money in stocks and bonds its not causing much inflation right now. But in the future 🔮 that’s to be determined.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 44 degrees at 4am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 7th. North wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1970.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter 🌗 Moon with 42% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:56 am, followed by dawn at 4:43 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:18 am in the east-northeast (57°) and last for 3 minutes and 27 seconds. Sunrise is 2 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 6:01 am with sun in the east-northeast (64°). Tonight will have 8 hours and 42 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 29 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 22nd. North wind 3 to 5 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 68 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1892.

In four weeks on July 11 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (301°) at 8:33 pm,🌄 which is 44 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had humid, partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 86 and 71 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 82 and 61 degrees. The record high of 98 degrees was set back in 1936.

Looking ahead, Summer ️⛱️ is in 1 week and the Mine Kill State Park Pool opens in two weeks 🏊 .

Painfully slow

You forget what a painfully slow process both shopping and checking out is at your local Big Box Supermarket compared to Aldi.

Does anybody really buy Super Pooper Organic Ketchup of 23 and a half flavors? Also, why can’t grocery clerks load an empty cart like they do at Aldi or check out the groceries faster?

Drove out to Five Rivers

I ended up driving 🚘 out to Five Rivers. I wanted to make sure I was could get that important code update uploaded to the blog.

I also need to go grocery shopping later on as I still haven’t bought any food besides milk since getting home from camp on Wednesday night.

I feel disappointed with myself as I normally walk out here. And I had ambitious plans for the day – for a while I thought about camping in the lean to at Harvey Mountain and also about Schodack Island State Park but neither happened. My stomach has been feeling a bit weak and I’ve been a bit achy – probably in part because my pantry has been so bare but also because I didn’t sleep well last night despite being in bed before nine.

Big blog bug fixed

So I fixed a major bug in my Indefinate Loader script, which was causing the blog to load too many images at once, causing the whole blog to slow down, especially on slow internet connections. It took a lot of digging, the bug wasn’t apparent but it should be fixed now. Also fixed a rare bug that occasionally caused web pages to not load properly. I tell you, being a blogger and writing your own code at times can feel like a full time job. 🐞
