Good evening! As they say, stick a fork into calendar winter, it’s done. Partly clear and 31 degrees for the evening walk in Delmar. 🌃 Breezy, ️16 mph breeze from the west-northwest 🌬 . The current wind chill is 20. At least in less protected areas the snow is done at least for now. ️Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 9 am. 🌡️

Out for the evening walk 🚶 which will get me up to a little over 12 miles for the day and 22 for the weekend. That’s good I guess. It was tough tromping through the snow in the Pine Bush yesterday though by today who knows how much is left.

I’d love to work more rabbit into my diet but it’s an expensive boutique meat in America unless you hunt or raise them because adult children in America think they’re cute not dinner. Got some wild salmon too, and lots of spices to add to various foods boost flavor.

March 12, 2023 Evening

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 40 degrees in Delmar for the evening walk. ☁ Calm wind. ️It’s quarter to eight and not pitch black out which is nice for a change.

I am a fan of the time change 🕒 even if I didn’t get out walking 🚶 early enough tonight to do it in the daylight after Sunday dinner with the folks house. 🍲 Homemade beef stew which was good but heavier than I eat recently. As much as I like dairy and meat I’ve been cutting way back for health and financial reasons.

After dinner I went to Walmart and stocked up on fruits and vegetables 🍏 🥦 and unpacked. I was going to wash off my truck but I didn’t think I could get home without more salt splashing on it. 💦 I’ve only driven 40 miles since I washed it. Well if I have to drive anywhere this week I won’t have to worry about it getting dirty.

Who knows but I’m the first one to admit that my 54 day run of more than 10,000 steps may come to an end tomorrow. All things come to an end. That said I’m now thinking about taking a fifty mile hike this summer. The steps aren’t a problem – I do that many weeks but I would have to build up my back for carrying a pack. Plus I would have to plan a route and get used to doing more hills. I could camp in the hammock with a mosquito net. I’m hoping to shed some pounds this spring time.

But I’m out and getting my steps in this morning. 👣 Only 3 more days and I will have dun 50 days of 10,000 steps or more, with many of those days being closer to 20,000 then 10,000. The 10k goal is roughly 5 miles, while the 20k goal is 10 miles.

I am bringing in a big load of fresh fruit for my office 🍏 as I was running low by the second half of the week last week. Usually keep the frozen fruit for home and the fresh stuff for work where I don’t have a freezer. Always like to he nibbling on it through out the day to keep my blood sugar 🍚 level so I’m not so hungry and wanting a big meal when I get home. I definitely feel healthier and more level headed, not sure if I slimmed down much but like anything it’s a journey and it takes time.

The snow storm 🌨 that was yesterday is pretty much just as memory as the snow melts away. At least in the city, I bet it will be gone tomorrow. Just the mud left. Maybe we will get more rain or snow later in the week but I don’t think it will last. I think we are passed that based on the statistics but I know there are always outliers.

The dire emergency snowstorm really wasn’t a big deal 🌲though some tree branches came down though I don’t think many people lost power 🔌 but what do I know, I don’t really listen to the radio 📻 much for the news 📰. That said, I’ve been updating my music 🎶 collection and now I’ve moved on to the seventies with getting a John Prine record 💿 to add to my collection. Much more up to date than the Weavers.

Spent a lot of my weekend studying machine learning 🤖 and statistics and calculating. For too long I’ve struggled to fully understand Kriging in R but it finally clicked today. 🖥 Kriging is a method of predicting data on a map from known points.

Not the worse morning ever 🌄but I’m well aware it’s still early March and it will only get warmer through July. It’s March and we might still get some final gasps of winter but it can’t hold out for long.

Mornings are noticeably brighter now 🔆 that is when the sun is shinning. That said it’s right in my eyes 👀 on the Delmar bypass which is obnoxious. It only gets worse come spring though in a little over a week things will be dark unless I push my morning walk back to 6:45 which I might have to for a few weeks. 🐦 I can hear the Red Winged black birds out so that’s a sign of spring 🌸.
