November 3, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ! I hope you remembered to set your clock back one hour. It’s a little after 8:30 AM now. Next Sunday is Average High is 50 ๐Ÿ‚. Partly cloudy and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind.Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 1 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I think I’m feeling better today after spending most of the day in bed yesterday. ๐Ÿ˜ท I think I just needed to give myself a day to recover from the cold. Between my cheap moldy apartment and my basement office and just the cold weather it’s not difficult to get sick. Plus lately it’s been run, run run. ๐ŸƒI needed a day to recover and now I’m on the excerise bike as I write this post. ๐Ÿšฒ

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 48 degrees at 12pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 15th. Light and variable wind becoming west 6 to 11 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 57 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1990. 0.9 inches of snow fell back in 1951.โ„

In a little bit I’m going to take a shower ๐Ÿšฟ and then run to Tractor Supply ๐Ÿšœ and Walmart ๐Ÿ‘ to get propane and supplies. Nice bright ๐Ÿ”† morning but it helps we set the clock back one hour. ๐Ÿ•’

Later on today I’m thinking about heading up Bennett Hill. ๐Ÿšถ It’s always a nice little hike and it’s on the way to my parents house which is all the more important with the sun setting so early. ๐Ÿ—ป

The sun will set at 4:46 pm with dusk around 5:15 pm, which is one minute and 16 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 46 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an decrease of 2 minutes and 31 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 30 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 21st. West wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2018, we had light rain in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 36 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1951.

I see that the NY GOP ๐Ÿ˜ is targeting me๐ŸŽฏ in their election ads. Good for them, I did vote for Deborah Busch for County Cornor. I think Republican control of the county coroner’s office would be a good check โ˜‘ on the Democratic District Attorney. Plus she can cause less trouble in the coroner’s office than the legislature. Most county coroner’s are just funeral parlor owners trolling for business from relatives of the dead. ๐ŸŽฃ ๐Ÿ‘บRather than buying Facebook ads, you think that the GOP would at least circulate petitions for at least a few compentent candidates rather than leave 80% of the ballot blank. I guess if you know your going to loose, you might as well just waste your money on Facebook ads. ๐Ÿ’ต

Fixed the leak on the drain pipe on the sink with duck tape. โญ• I thought about calling the landlord or even fixing it myself – it’s just a rusted clamp but duck tape is easier and I don’t want to remind the landlord of all the damage I’ve done to his building over the past twelve years. If it gives me more problems I’ll reevaluate. I’m a dirty hick and I drag in a lot of mud. ๐Ÿฝ

It looks like the weather is moderating for next weekend, the long Veterans Day Weekend. โ›บ Assuming there is not a shit ton of snow โ›„, actually none at all I want to camp at Stoney Pond although depending on the time and weather I could settle for Brookfield. I think Piseco-Powley Road is done for the year with Lake Effect season well underway. Probably camp on NY 8 and East Branch come Black Friday after doing some hiking.

As previously noted, next Sunday is Average High is 50 ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 4:38 pm with dusk at 5:08 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 42 and 35 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 50 degrees. We hit a record high of 72 back in 1931.

Only a few hints of Fall

November 2, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Four weeks to Small Business Saturday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Cloudy and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Calm wind.Temperatures will drop below freezing at Monday around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I woke up this morning feeling sick as a dog ๐Ÿถ. I didn’t think I could get that cold from my parents being already sick. I was wrong on that point. I made it to work yesterday and held my head high through the staff meeting mid day but basically after dinner I collapsed in bed.

I wanted to go camping this weekend but I think I’m too sick. ๐Ÿ˜ข The best thing I can do is rest up. Hopefully a restful weekend after getting these two separate cold viruses means I’ll be healthy for the rest of winter. There is always so much to do and I need rest after a stressful week starting my new job. My sister and niece are having a birthday party ๐ŸŽ‚ but I can’t go being so sick.

I got the headlight bulb ๐Ÿ’ก properly replaced with a new one although the bulb they had at Autozone was the same as Walmart but two bucks more. Made sure not to touch the bulb before installing. If they ever blow again I’m going to replace with either LED bulbs or genuine DELCO parts. Seems fine now, the old bulb was open circuit the new one has a resistance of 0.3 ohm which at 14 volts is 60 watts – the bulb is rated 55 watts but the test meter I have has some resistance in the leads.

Now that my headlights are working I can go to the store and get soap ๐Ÿ‘‹ and cough medicine ๐Ÿ˜ท. Things that would have been nice but I couldn’t do this week with the weather. I checked my other lights and they’re good, so I’m ready to get Big Red inspected this month. I do want to check the brake lights but I’ll have to ask somebody to depress the pedal while I check the back, especially the third eye on the truck cap.

Today will be cloudy early, then gradual clearing ๐ŸŒƒ, with a high of 49 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 12th. South wind 3 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 64 degrees. The record high of 82 was set in 1950. .1 inches of snow fell back in 1911.โ„

The sun will set at 5:47 pm with dusk around 6:16 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 47 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 17 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 34 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 9th. South wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2018, we had light rain. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1980.

On the whole I’m happy ๐Ÿ˜Š with my new position. The windowless office kind of in the back makes me feel a bit stuffed in a white cardboard box ๐ŸŽ but it’s fine. I took the position because they needed my help and it’s a good opportunity to meet new people, make connections and further my career. ๐Ÿ’ผ Ultimately making more money ๐Ÿ’ต means more to invest and one step closer to my off grid property.

Staying home this weekend will save money, ๐Ÿ’ฐand honestly I don’t know if the road at White Rocks National Recreation area is closed due to wash outs or trees downโ›”. I think the worse rain and wind was further north but it would be a major bummer to get up there and have to turn back ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ”™. Still paying for vacation and it’s not a real sunny day. โ˜

Right now next weekend looks bitterly cold โ„ but who knows the forecast could change. Sunny but cold weather like late December. And who knows about snow – it looks like it’s November and the snow belt is already getting Lake Effect. I’m still thinking about Stoney Pond outside of Morrisville but not if they’re is any snow or a chance of it.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Small Business Saturday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2018, we had mostly sunny skies, with a few passing rain showers and temperatures between 45 and 18 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 42 degrees. We hit a record high of 67 back in 1933.

Overlook

October 20, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy with some fog ๐ŸŒ around but you can partially see the stars and 44 degrees in Dormansville, NY. โ›… Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Today was a pretty quiet day at my parents house. ๐Ÿ“– I stayed there with the dog ๐Ÿถ taking him out for a walk that totalled 1 1/2 miles. I didn’t mind the walk but he’s gotten very elderly and he was out back most of the day, sitting back next to the heater. He got a little too close to the heater and I started to smell dog hair burning but besides a little patch of sinenged hair he’s fine.

It rained โ˜” a lot more this afternoon than expected and I ended up heading inside with my laptop, researching and processing some new data for the blog. I haven’t made many Google Maps in a while and I’m still going through videos from vacation. ๐ŸŽฅ There is a lot of government data out there for making maps and charts ๐Ÿ“Š if you know where to look for it.

Knowing where to find government data ๐Ÿค not only helps me make content for the blog, it is helpful reference sometimes for work and I think ta good experience and knowledge that could be useful for future career opportunities especially after I leave the state for good. The more you practice the better you get at it. That’s why I’ve gotten so good at map making.

Tonight will have patchy dense fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒ, with a low of 40 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 15th. Light and variable wind. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 35 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1972.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter with 43% illuminated. The moon will set at 2:35 pm. The Last Quarter Moon will be tonight with mostly clear skies. The Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:14 am with the first light at 6:46 am, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 13 hours and 9 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 19th. Maximum dew point of 48 at 3pm. North wind around 5 mph. It would have been nice to have such weather today. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 1979. 0.2 inches of snow fell back in 1926.โ„

In four weeks on November 17 the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 34 minutes and 24 seconds earlier then tonight. I don’t know if I already want to think about that. ๐Ÿ˜” In 2018 on that day, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 44 and 37 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 47 and 31 degrees. The record high of 73 degrees was set back in 1928.

Looking ahead, Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ is in 2 weeks, Average High is 50 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 3 weeks, December ๐ŸŽ„ is in 6 weeks, Bill of Rights Day ๐Ÿ“œ is in 8 weeks, Days are Getting Longer โ˜€๏ธ is in 9 weeks, National Pie Day ๐Ÿฐ is in 13 weeks, 5:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† is in 14 weeks, Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 15 months.

Maples Along Trail

October 20, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Two weeks to Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ. Partly cloudy and 49 degrees in Dormansville, NY. โ›… There is a south breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear around 10 pm. Warmed up quickly this morning, it was about 30 degrees when I first woke up around dawn this morning.

Today will have a chance of rain, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 52 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 5th. Cloudy Fall Day on Wollock Road

October 13, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚! Final day in West Virginia. Got a late start as it was cold โ„ and I misplaced my camera. Three weeks to Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ. Partly sunny and 37 degrees at the Monongahela National Forest. Calm wind.

I’m sad I’m leaving West Virginia ๐Ÿ˜ญ but time marches on. It wouldn’t be an adventure if you did it every day. ๐ŸI gotta go home and make money. ๐Ÿ’ต I’m sure I’ll camp โ›บ and hunt come November but much closer to home ๐Ÿก. Probably the Adirondacks.

Misplaced my camera on this morning, ๐Ÿ“ท which delayed my departure a bit from camp. I found it, just got knocked off the shelf and tied up with the sleeping bags on my truck. Glad I didn’t lose my camera or all my good resolution pictures from the trip.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 61 degrees at 3pm. Typical for today. Maximum dew point of 46 at 4pm. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 1930. There was a dusting of snow in 1934.โ„

Today it’s off to Cannan Wildlife Refuge ๐Ÿฆ then a stop at Mount Storm Coal Plant and and then north to Keyser WV to get some supplies, Blue Knob State Park, Interstate 99 then a quick overnight at County Bridge Campground. Lots of driving ๐Ÿš˜ but a chance to see some nice country.

The sun will set at 6:42 pm with dusk around 7:09 pm, which is one minute and 29 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 55 degrees. It’s coming fast, better get going. There will be a west-southwest breeze at 7 mph. Tomorrow will have 11 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 29 seconds over today.

Totally wearing my Molon Labe t-shirt ๐Ÿ‘• today, the offensive second admendment shirt with two AR-15 on it that I probably can’t wear in Albany and certainly not anywhere near work. I probably fit in well in West Virginia though. ๐Ÿ”ซ I sure love ๐Ÿ˜ guns and burning things. So do most rednecks and country boys in Pennsylvania. ๐Ÿฎ

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 40 degrees at 6am. Typical for tonight. West wind 5 to 10 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1958.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 5:15 pm with dusk at 5:43 pm (Standard Time) in West Virginia. Much earlier – half hour earlier in Albany. On that day in 2018, we had rain and temperatures between 57 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 53 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.

Heading Down to the Vlomans Kill

October 7, 2019 Night

Good evening! Nice evening laying back in the hammock. A barn owl is hooting in the distance, and I hear from crickets. The moon is obscured by the clouds but it’s still not super dark in the woods. Rain has been gone since midday ๐Ÿ•› and now the woods is fairly dry with a dropping dew point. There is a group of bow hunters ๐Ÿ™‡ a quarter mile down the road – they’re the group with the big jacked up 3/4 ton truck with the pick up camper. Far enough way that the only way I know there down there is occasionally a I hear their coon dog ๐Ÿถ howling or an occasional hoot or holler from their camp – that an I drove past their camp earlier. Coyotes are loud tonight.

Mostly cloudy and 53 degrees at the Allegheny National Forest. โ˜ There is a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 47 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 pm.

Today as expected was kind of a damp and somewhat rainy day โ˜” although the rain ended much earlier than in Albany but the first sign of any real clearing was not until around sunset. I sat out and read outside for a while but started to feel cold and damp and decided to hot tent with the book. ๐Ÿ“– I got through my second book of vacation – as I noted earlier – Andrew Revkins book on Weather. Nice picture book, sometimes adults like books with lots of graphics. Second book I’ve read on vacation. ๐Ÿ“š Very warm at times in the tent – that heater kicks out a lot of heat and with temperatures in the mid 50s I kept having to turn it off.

I drove over to Jakes Rocks for a while this afternoon to top off the batteries but ended up disconnecting the accessory batteries from the alternator when I started smelling ozone. ๐Ÿ”‹ I don’t want to accidentally fry the alternator while I’m on vacation or even just burn up a wire or a fuse. It’s fine – after today the sun will be shining and I’ll rely entirely on the solar for the accessory loads as the sun will out. โ˜€

Walking around Jakes Rocks was nice although it was rather cloudy and dark โ˜. But other than that a fine afternoon. I’ll admit today was a quiet day but my expectations were pretty low.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 42 degrees at 6am. Typical for tonight. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light drizzle by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1964.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon ๐ŸŒ” with 80% illuminated. The moon will set at 1:38 am. The ๐ŸŒ• is on Saturday night with mostly clear skies. The sun will rise at 7:19 am with the first light at 6:51 am, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 12 hours and 32 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 46 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 62 degrees at 4pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 10th. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 80 was set in 2017.

I’ve decided to stay at this campsite one more day. โ›บ I just don’t feel like taking down camp with a week’s worth of gear and a tent to put away that is still a bit damp. Going to be a nice day tomorrow, so I definitely want to go hiking and park the truck somewhere to fully charge the accessory batteries. I might go to Titusville as I didn’t visit the museum last time I was there in 2012 or might just go for a walk along the reservoir, parking down at the swimming beach and maybe hiking up Rim Rock. ๐Ÿšถ

Wednesday who knows. ๐Ÿ’ญ West Virginia is still a possibility. The US 219 isn’t that far away and if I get up well before dawn and leave by eight I can probably do both Mount Davis State Park and Hoye Crest in Maryland before setting up camping in Cannan Heights. It looks as of the last time I checked the burn ban is still on but I don’t have to have a campfire. I always have the lights and the heater. And good music to listen to. I would probably stay until Sunday there and then come back through Pennsylvania and stay at the County Bridge Campground on Sunday into Columbus Day. Going to be mild and sunny the rest of the week.

Alternatively, I could drive up through Allegany State Park and camp, hike and hunt squirrel in Cattaraugus County or fish and hike in the Zoar Valley. ๐Ÿ  I’ve always wanted to check out the Eternal Flame Falls in Orchard Park – I read about it a lot now that I work with several Buffalo clients thee days. โ›ฒ Maybe the leaves are better up north in New York? ๐Ÿ‚

I could also move to somewhere farther south in the National Forest, check out Nebraska Bridge and that wildlife refuge down that way. Saturday or Sunday visit the Elk center and do the Elk Scenic Drive๐Ÿฏ along with visiting Hyner View Park which might have good color by then. I would also overnight at the County Bridge campground. Or honestly, I could stay at the same site all week. At any rate, wherever I camp that final night, I don’t want to be more than four driving ๐Ÿš˜ hours away from Albany so I can get back relatively early and have time to stop for lunch, visit some parks, take back roads and get back early enough to unpack.๐Ÿ’ผ It was too long of a drive for my sanity all the way out to Allegheny National Forest on the way it here.๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ

The damn camp lantern I bought mantles for remains real smokey with yellow flames and tons of soot ๐Ÿฎ. Not sure what the issue is. I was thinking that that the generator tube is clogged with dirt but the filter on it seems fine as does the gas pressure. I checked that I installed the proper mantles. Yeap. Everything seems fine but the inside of the lantern is filled with oily soot, the glass keeps on getting sooty and the top is dripping with soot. Fortunately I have plenty of electricity power off the truck, the lantern is just a backup in case of undervoltage and for extra light. Wouldn’t want to have it alone.

In four weeks on November 4 the sun will be setting at 5:07 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 41 minutes and 7 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 51 and 36 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 53 and 34 degrees. The record high of 76 degrees was set back in 1994.

I do really like that green Don’t Tread On Me – Live Free or Die shirt ๐Ÿ‘š I bought online. I would want to get caught dead wearing it in Albany but it’s fun here in the wilderness. I’m no fan of Donald Trump – he’s a racist moron with generally bad ideas ๐Ÿ‘บbut I do think government should be downsized and stay out of people’s business. That’s why I’m eventually thinking of moving to a state like Missouri when I own my off grid property with solar on the roof, composting for the toilet and a burn pit out back for the trash. An an AR-15 because they sound like a lot of fun to shoot.

Looking ahead, Average High is 55 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 3 weeks, Veterans Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 5 weeks, Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 8 weeks, First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ is in 8 weeks, Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ is in 9 weeks and Festivus ๐Ÿ– is in 11 weeks.

At Peak Color

September 29, 2019 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 53 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures are dropping quickly tonight, I wore a t-shirt ๐Ÿ‘• out hiking earlier but by evening heading home it was cold enough to warrant turning on the heat in the truck.

Sunday dinner at the parents house was good. ๐Ÿ Mom and dad made spaghetti and meatballs, only the way a mother could make them. Yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹. I also got the inside of the truck picked up, floors vacuumed and things cleaned up a bit around the apartment. This week after work I’ll work on packing and finalizing organizing for vacation. ๐Ÿ’ผ Blodgett Hill was pretty neat to explore, I’d like to explore it more come the winter or maybe next year.

I rode the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ for a while while watching YouTube after getting home from the folks house ๐Ÿก. Now I’m laying back in bed working on the blog post. My neighbor isn’t home so I don’t have to worry about the noise from the bike. ๐Ÿ”• Took a sleeping pill ๐Ÿ’Š and I have set alarm โฐ for 6:30 in the morning so I can drop off the truck in the morning. The wheel noise has gotten louder, I’m pretty sure it’s a failing wheel bearing but I’ll let the mechanic figure it out ๐Ÿ”งand not guess myself. Hopefully it will get fixed and vacation will go well.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 41 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 10th. North wind 6 to 8 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 43 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1991.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon ๐ŸŒ’ with 8% illuminated. The moon will rise at 8:55 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Friday night with showers likely. The Hunter Moon ๐ŸŒ is on Saturday, October 12th. Perfect timing for my trip. The sun will rise at 6:50 am with the first light at 6:22 am, which is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ Tonight will have 12 hours and 10 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 68 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 27th. North wind 5 to 8 mph becoming south in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 88 was set in 1905.

Midweek looks like it will be quite rainy. ๐Ÿ’ฆ We could use the rain. West Virginia is particularly dry but the fire risk is still quite low probably because the Mountain Laurel stores a lot of moisture and the fields are still quite green. No fire bans down there, I checked ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Not sure how good the colors will be down there. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚

I am thinking about visiting Hyner View on the way down to West Virginia next Sunday but I might wait until the trip back north just because I don’t know how good the colors will be there ๐Ÿ‚but it should be good by Columbus Day Weekend. Plus it’s a bit out of the way and I’m probably going to be a rush to get down to West Virginia. First few nights in West Virginia I’ll probably be Cannan Heights.

In four weeks on October 27 the sun will be setting at 5:55 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 45 minutes and 31 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had rain and temperatures between 43 and 37 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 56 and 36 degrees. The record high of 79 degrees was set back in 1963.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 2 weeks, Daylight Savings Time Ends ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ is in 5 weeks, Average High is 50 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 6 weeks, Regular Deer Season in Southern Zone ๐ŸฆŒ is in 7 weeks, Buy Nothing Day ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 2 months, December ๐ŸŽ„ is in 9 weeks, Bill of Rights Day ๐Ÿ“œ is in 11 weeks, Days are Getting Longer โ˜€๏ธ is in 12 weeks, National Pie Day ๐Ÿฐ is in 16 weeks, 5:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† is in 17 weeks, 37th Birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 4 months.
