November 14, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Two weeks to Thanksgiving 🦃. Turkey day is late this year. 🍗 Going to leave a lot of people hungry especially the big retailers. Mostly cloudy and 22 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. ☁ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. Maybe a dusting in a few places but for the most part the snow locally has bit the bullet and probably has lead to a poisoning. β˜ƒ ️Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌡️

It’s kind of gray out this morning with some warm colors in the sky to the south. ☁ Colder then I expected because the heat is on in my apartment and it’s quite comfortable. No warmth from the sun. It just feels like November. Tomorrow is halfway through the month. Traffic is backed up going through the Plaza but I still haven’t think I’ll make it in time to work. ⌚ I always build extra time into my schedule with the express bus 🚍.

Today will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a high of 36 degrees at 2pm. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 14th. That’s a big improvement from yesterday. South wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1973. 14.4 inches of snow fell back in 1972.❄

The sun will set at 4:34 pm with dusk around 5:04 pm, which is 57 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies 🌃 and temperatures around 36 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 12 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 26 degrees at 4am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 3rd. South wind around 6 mph. In 2018, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 20 degrees. The record low of 14 occurred back in 1939.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 15 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. πŸ˜€ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 30. North wind around 6 mph. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Typical average high for the weekend is 48 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until Repeal of Prohibition Day 🍺 when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had cloudy, mild, rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 39 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 40 degrees. We hit a record high of 65 back in 2001.

November 12, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Four weeks to 7:15 AM Sunrise βŒ›οΈ. Snow showers and 30 degrees in Delmar, NY. ❄ There is a west-northwest breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ with gusts up to 21 mph, especially in the city. πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ We have a cold period ahead with temperatures dropping throughout the day. Things will start to thaw out at Thursday around 10 am. 🌑️

I thought about taking the local in 🚍 but with my new job, the express is more convenient and it’s a much easier commute. But if the bus is late the express doesn’t offer any alternatives besides turning around and walking 🚢 another mile to the local. But the express was close to on time ⌚ although a minute late stuck behind a sander truck 🚚. Sidewalks locally weren’t icy, maybe the driveway had a skim of icy but neither was slick. I hate walking to work on icy sidewalks. Ramp to the plaza is a bit icy but I’m not driving. Maybe things will freeze up later on, I’ll have to be careful when I go out for my lunch time walk.

Today will have snow showers ❄, mainly before noon. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing 🌨, with a high of 31 degrees at 8am. Temperatures will be dropping into the upper twenties as the day progresses. 18 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical early January day. Northwest wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 1909. 7.3 inches of snow fell back in 1968.❄

So winter is back and it’s cold ❄. But what do I know in my windowless office when I get there. Going to warm up on Friday and that should melt the snow off my truck by Sunday. With the cold, the solar will be good at make sure the batteries remain topped off and ready to go. I should call DeNooyer today about getting the state inspection done. πŸš— I am still debating about getting the oil changed and tires rotated. I probably should do it to even out the wear out on the tires, and while it’s a bit premature to do the oil change, if it’s done, I won’t have to do it again until May or June, based on the miles I drive int he winter.

The sun will set at 4:36 pm with dusk around 5:06 pm, which is one minute and one second earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 28 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 15. β˜ƒοΈ Breezy, 17 mph breeze β›… from the west-northwest with gusts up to 32mph. Today will have 9 hours and 53 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 16 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have isolated snow showers between 9pm and midnight. Mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 12 degrees at 6am. 20 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 3 at 2am; Northwest wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of 13 occurred back in 1981.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 13 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. πŸ˜€ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 32. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 48 degrees. I don’t think it’s going to be that nice of a weekend, but I’m hopeful it won’t be too cold and sun will help a lot. Much depends on how windy it is. At least I should be able to do some walks around town. Staying home — except for taking the bus to the Green Energy Fair 🌲 should save money, which is good, because things are kind of tight. The sun should help limit the heating bills a bit. And maybe nicer weather for next week?

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until 7:15 AM Sunrise βŒ›οΈ when the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. Pretty close to the shortest days of the year. That’s actually the latest sunset, although we continue to loose light in the morning through early January. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny, mist and temperatures between 36 and 18 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1966.

November 11, 2019 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a north breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 4 am. β˜ƒοΈ

I am feeling a lot better now. πŸ™‚ I went for an evening walk 🚶 around the high school 🚸 and also rode the excerise bike 🚲 for probably two hours today. Knees are a bit sore, probably those hours on the bike 💪. I have a ton of energy ⚑ now that my cold is relenting – as often happens after being sick. You feel so weak until you ain’t. Still think there is a good chance I have Lyme – going to get tested if the headaches and soreness continue after the cough is gone. But at least the energy is back. Going to need it with the bitter cold ❄ coming tomorrow. Heat is on and it’s comfortable.

I had a good dinner of fish 🐠 and mixed vegetables with frozen onions added for flavor. It was a basic and good dinner, a change from the usual pasta in the winter. I had frozen raspberries for dessert and a glass of apple juice 🍏. I get apple juice is high on sugar but I don’t ever have candy 🍬 or alcohol 🍻 at home and the sugar boost makes me sleepy before bed 😴. Only camping. I rode the exercise bike more after dinner watching the latest update from Red Poppy Ranch 🌸 on his YouTube channel. I stopped early as my neighbor was home and I didn’t want to disturb him with the rumble of my bike which is pretty loud 🔊. That said with the Bluetooth headphones he never hears my music, video or radio 📻. I try to cuss and drop shit less when he’s home. 💩

Tonight will have a chance of rain before 3am, then rain and sleet between 3am and 5am, then rain and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain after 5am. 😮🌀❄ Low of 30 degrees at 6am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 21st. North wind around 6 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total nighttime sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of 15 occurred back in 1976.

Tonight is the Beaver Moon but with the impending storm you won’t see much.🌝🚫 The moon is under the clouds, the beavers are hiding in the safety of their lodges. The sun will rise at 6:41 am with the first light at 6:11 am, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 5 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 18 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will snow and sleet, becoming all snow after 7am, then gradually ending. β„β˜ High of 31 degrees at 8am. 18 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day in early January. Northwest wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. It’s going to be a messy commute some places but not so bad in Albany. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 1909. 7.3 inches of snow fell back in 1968.❄

I’ll make it to work and it should be a fairly ordinary Tuesday. Probably take the local bus in if it’s really miserable come morning. 🚍 I’m hoping no headaches come the day time but I’ll make it through the day, I always do. 😧 After work, I’ll probably come home and continue to rest up but at least I think things are getting better health wise. I get paid tomorrow which is good 💸 as the big credit card 💳 bill is due Thursday.

Got replacement Bluetooth headphones. 🎧 Amazing how they’re under $8 at Walmart. The quality isn’t the same though, they don’t last as long and aren’t waterproof. But still six months is better than what I’d get with the wired ones. I saved the Bluetooth unit and battery in the old one, I could use it for a future 🔮 project.

Stocked up the pantry too, 🍇 I don’t plan to drive anywhere until next Sunday. $43 in groceries including foot powder and the headphones. Not too bad and I have more than 3/4 tank of gas left Solar should keep the truck ready to be started even if it cold out all week β˜€. I think eventually when I own my own place I’ll keep an old solar panel and charge controller on a rack and run wires with a quick connect to the battery 🔋 of my truck to keep the battery fully topped off when it is parked for long periods of time at my cabin.

I do miss camping β›Ί and traveling a lot this time of year. I do want to do at least one more camping trip this month and maybe an extended weekend winter trip come December or January depending on how much snow and road conditions. My often cold apartment in the cold gray weather gets me watching the YouTube video I’ve downloaded and thinking a lot more about my future 🔮 and my plans. I could turn the heat up or rent a nicer place but it’s good to dream and have a plan for a better tomorrow.

In four weeks on December 9 the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm,🌄 which is 15 minutes and 10 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had snow and temperatures between 33 and 27 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 38 and 24 degrees. The record high of 62 degrees was set back in 1966.

Looking ahead, Cyber Monday 🛍️ is in 3 weeks, First Sunday of Advent ✝️ is in 3 weeks, Earliest Sunset of the Year βŒ›οΈ is in 4 weeks and Festivus 🍖 is in 6 weeks.

November 11, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Today is Veterans Day 🇺🇸! Three weeks to Cyber Monday 🛍️. Cloudy and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. We expect rain late today but watch out for tomorrow when temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 7 am. β˜ƒοΈ Should make for an interesting commute 🚍 especially now that I have to be there earlier for work on. But maybe the bus will be close to on time, it often is at the park and ride early, but I might catch the local if it’s really wet and nasty. ❄ Snow though probably won’t be so bad walk. 🚶

Veterans Day will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 7am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy 🌧, with a high of 40 degrees at 1pm. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 4th. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2002. 3.0 inches of snow fell back in 1906.❄

I got a bunch to do today. 👍 First off I need to take out the trash to the outside can. It’s been three weeks. With recycling β™» and composting I don’t need to do it often but sometimes the food bags in the trash start to get nasty. Eventually I’ll take it to the transfer station or something like that. 🔥 I just hate wasting garbage bags although I can always dump one into another. I also need to return those beer cans 🍻💰(I wish it’s easier than the transfer station). Need to clean the kitchen 🍙and maybe spray a few places in the bathroom 🚽 for mildew. With the warmer temperatures it’s very nice and comfortable in my bedroom, I actually turned the heat back down yesterday.

Definitely not all that great for outside activities but that’s fine. I am going to ride the exercise bike 🚲 for a while and work on some maps later on. 🌐 I didn’t go to the store yesterday 🏬 so I need to do that some point today. I might head down to the library later. 📚 Depends on how I feel. With my phone 📱 I find I don’t really have as much desire to use the internet at the library.

At least I’m feeling a lot better. Not perfect, still a bit congested at time 😷 and a little sore but better than in a while. I’m starting to think that I may have Lyme disease with the headaches and aches but I’m going to wait until I am fully recovered from my cold. 🎯 Mom certainly thinks it’s worthwhile for me to get tested for Lyme, with my symptoms of headaches, sore neck and stiffness at times but it’s been so long since I last been to my doctor. I should do regular yearly check ups. They’re free and I’d hate to die 🎲 somewhere in the wilderness with a heart attack. β™₯

The sun will set at 4:37 pm with dusk around 5:07 pm, which is one minute and 3 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 37 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 53 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 16 seconds over today.

Tonight will have a chance of rain and sleet before 2am, then rain likely between 2am and 3am, then rain and sleet after 3am. 🌧 Low of 33 degrees at 6am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 13th. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of 15 occurred back in 1976.

All I can say is that it’s going to be nasty tomorrow. β›„ But I’m sure the bus will get me to work 🚍 and all I have to do is be at the stop a few minutes early. 🚏I do hate a lot of things about living in the city but public transportation isn’t one of them.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 12 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. πŸ˜€ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 33. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 48 degrees.

The following weekend might be quite warm from the long range. β˜€ But God only knows. This weekend is the Green Energy Fair 🌲⚑ so I’ll be in town. Sunday might be nice for skiing 🎿 in an area without hunting if they’re still is snow. β›„

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Cyber Monday 🛍️ when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 41 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 41 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 1998.

November 10, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 50 🍂! If it only was that warm. Mostly cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 11 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

I think I’m feeling better today but not great. 😷 I’ll make it through today at any rate and I’m not going to spend most of today in bed like yesterday. It’s just this cold that three weeks running still is making me miserable. I do think it was a good thing I stayed home this weekend – the weather is pretty cloudy and cold this morning. Camping and seeing Madison County would have been fun but not if I’m sick as a dog 🐶. And I’d be worried the whole weekend about icy, snow covered roads come Monday from the Lake Effect.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 47 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 17th. South wind 8 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 42 degrees. The record high of 72 was set in 1931. 3.2 inches of snow fell back in 1987.❄

The sun will set at 4:38 pm with dusk around 5:08 pm, which is one minute and 5 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies 🌃 and temperatures around 45 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 57 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 20 seconds over yesterday.

Today the plan is to shower 🚿 and go to the store 🏬, get groceries and finally return my beer cans from vacation 🍻. Then depending on the weather and how I feel I might go hiking 🚶 and then out to my parents house for Sunday dinner.

Tomorrow I might go to John Wolcott house for a bit, I’m undecided on that point. His project is finally winding down and I’m not interested in getting involved in other boxes, as much as he may want me to. 📂 I’m a volunteer, so I can do as much as I want and we are now a year into this project, six boxes later.

Next weekend is that green fair 🌲that I’m tabling at for Save the Pine Bush. It should be a nice day but it also means I’ll be stuck in Albany next weekend. That’s fine. I also need need to get my truck inspected before the end of the month, maybe I can do that next week – drop it off early before work and pick it up. Thanksgiving Weekend probably is the next chance I’ll have to get out of town quite honestly.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers after 4am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 36 degrees at 1am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 30th. South wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 26 degrees. The record low of 15 occurred back in 1956.

Cedar Mountain Vista

November 7, 2019 Night

Good evening! Cold and damp with snow flurries and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. ❄ There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. Definitely a cold and damp evening, the heat is on in my apartment and I’m wearing my comfortable blaze orange hoodie I wear regularly in the wilderness. ️

It was a busy and crazy day 😜 at work. I think I’m doing a good job and I have a good team but sometimes it gets crazy. I did check out the Tylenol they had had in the kitchen as I had another headache by afternoon. 💊 Everybody was calling me and keeping me busy, earning my money. Stayed up later last night then usual so I was tired 😴 by afternoon.

Despite the rain, β˜” I walked down to the Union Station 🚉 to catch the bus. I’ve been lately catching the bus down there as it’s easy with my new office 🏢 to walk down Columbia Street and getting the bus before the expressway. But I tell you – there are too many sidewalk barricades on Columbia Street. 🚧 It makes it difficult for a pedestrian to navigate it. Also they really need crosswalks at Chapel Street and Columbia Street. It’s unsafe without crosswalks and no stop signs on Columbia. β›” No fun for the pedestrian 🚶 in the rain walking down to the bus stop. 🚏

Got home, laid back in bed 💤 and then cooked up a big pan of pasta and meatballs. 🍲 I probably should have had a smaller meal as I had enough earlier in the day and I should have ridden the exercise bike 🚲 but I spent some much needed time cleaning in the kitchen and then the neighbor came home so I didn’t want to make a lot of noise riding the bike. At least dessert 🍰 was healthy – just frozen blueberries and bananas 🍌 to fill my increasingly bad sweet tooth.

Ended up watching a video on Beaver Trapping and some of Aging Wheels videos and now AVE. I accidentally downloaded most Aging Wheel channel so I might have a lot more to watch. 📹 I should have ridden the bike but at least I did walk a mile and a half today between walking to the express bus 🚍 and the station. So it’s not like I was a total couch potato.

Tonight will have a chance of snow, mainly before 10pm. I think that’s mostly done. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy 🌨, with a low of 25 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 5th. Barely expected to rise by morning. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1971.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 89% illuminated. The moon will set at 2:26 am. The Beaver Moon 🌕 is on Monday night with partly cloudy skies. The sun will rise at 6:36 am with the first light at 6:07 am, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 13 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 25 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 34 degrees at 1pm. 17 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 20th. Northwest wind 9 to 17 mph. Going to be bitterly cold for November – not much snow melt in the mountains although the bright 🔆 sun will help. With the sun tomorrow and the heat on in my apartment I don’t expect it will get too cold inside. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 49 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1975. 1.7 inches of snow fell back in 1894.❄

After I scheduled my post on water waste 💦 I noticed that my shower 🚿 was dripping this evening. I tapped the handle and it finally stopped. Bugged me as hell. If it starts again I’ll text the landlord to have the plumber come over. Also while he’s here I’ll have him fix the leaky sink drain and the sink faucet that leaks when it’s on. May that will slow all rusting and mold problems in the kitchen but I doubt – I think their must be a pipe that’s been leaking elsewhere for years. I hate calling the landlord over because I’ve done a lot of wear and tear on his building although I’m sure he already knows. I’m not a model tenant, I’m a dirty hick who tracks in a shit ton of mud. 💩 My idea of cleaning is paper plates and a campfire. He’s just happy I always pay my rent on time 💸 and I don’t make much noise. 🔇

Watching the snow falls around, ❄ and based on the reports and the weather I’ll decide on where I’m going this weekend. Tomorrow I’m going to John Wolcott house after work and after that I might run to the store or more likely I’ll just stop 🍖and get groceries to take to camp. β›Ί

In four weeks on December 5 the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm,🌄 which is 19 minutes and 14 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had cloudy, mild, rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 39 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 40 and 25 degrees. The record high of 65 degrees was set back in 2001.

Looking ahead, Thanksgiving 🦃 is in 3 weeks, Repeal of Prohibition Day 🍺 is in 4 weeks, Boxing Day 🥊 is in 7 weeks and National Cheese Lovers Day 🧀 is in 11 weeks. I do love cheese. I really should have visited that Cheese Store when I was in Cuba, NY. If I do go out to Madison County this weekend, I really should stop at For the Love of Bacon. 🐽 Get some good bacon which goes well with cheese.

Autumn continues...

November 7, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Three weeks to Thanksgiving 🦃. It really is coming quickly. I know last weekend mom was talking about her Thanksgiving day plans. Dark and cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Just started to rain β˜” a few days little after I got on the bus. There is a south breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 9 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

I walked down to the express bus 🚍 as I do most days now. Bus driver is going very slowly, I’m not sure why. Nothing seems wrong with the bus though. Seems though like we are making progress downtown and I’ll be in work in time to clock in. I find most evenings I walk down Columbia to Peter Kiran Plaza aka old Union Station and catch the bus there, right before it gets on the expressway. 🚉

Today will rain, mainly after noon. 🌧 High of 42 degrees at 12pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 24th. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1938. 4.5 inches of snow fell back in 1886.❄

The sun will set at 4:41 pm with dusk around 5:11 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 40 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 4 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain and snow likely before 9pm, then a chance of snow between 9pm and 1am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 25 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 5th. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1971.

The broken headphones 🎧 are annoying but it’s just a temporary situation and I’ll replace them. Now that they’ve gotten cheaper they don’t hold up well. I’ll replace them on Friday when I shop for camping.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 40. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees. Going to be a cold weekend but that’s not to be unexpected this time of year.

Now the weekend plans will all depend on the snow depth maps. ❄ I am watching them and the forecast carefully but I still expect to go somewhere this weekend. This is a complex storm, not exactly sure what the snow fall totals will be but there shouldn’t be too much snow for camping β›Ί at least along NY 8 – although I’m not a big fan of going up there because if I hunt it will be in competition with all the rifle hunters. 🔫

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Thanksgiving 🦃 when the sun will be setting at 4:24 pm with dusk at 4:55 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 45 and 18 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 43 degrees. We hit a record high of 68 back in 1990.
