Good morning! Happy Sunday. Two weeks to Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚. In the Albany area that might occur sooner as it looks like the northeast will dip above the jet stream next week. Strangely enough I’ll be in West Virginia where its expected to be relatively warm and sunny assuming that the jet stream remains far enough north. Partly sunny and 65 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 55 degrees.

Yesterday I hiked in the Albany Pine Bush ๐Ÿšถ out the purple trail from Madison Avenue Extension to Fusco Park then the yellow trail loop. A nice hike but a bit humid by evening with the front coming through. โ˜ Clouded u later on. I’ll post more photos ๐Ÿ“ท later today. Also scanned on some documents ๐Ÿ“  at the library for Save the Pine Bush.

Last night was kind of a hot and sticky one. I was tempted to get out my fan but I don’t like how much energy it uses, says the boy in the squeaky big jacked up truck that’s getting fixed tomorrow. ๐Ÿ’จ I fell asleep pretty early mainly because I was up late the previous night watching the YouTube I had downloaded at the library.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 69 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 24th. Maximum dew point of 55 at 8am. North wind 8 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 68 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1921.

The sun will set at 6:41 pm with dusk around 7:09 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 65 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Today I’m thinking about hiking Louise Kier WMA aka Blodgett Hill outside of South Bethlehem ๐Ÿšถ one of the few areas around in Albany County outside of the Albany Pine Bush that has a native pitch pine habitat. But first I want to run to the car wash ๐Ÿš™ and Walmart. ๐Ÿช I need to buy some motor oil โ›ฝ to top off the truck before vacation. Then I’ll probably head over to my parents house relatively early as I’m not going to stay overnight tonight.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 8th. North wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 43 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1991.

Looking forward to my West Virginia trip next week. By now in a week I’ll be well on my way to West Virginia, stopping at several parks along the way, especially Hyner View I think. ๐Ÿ‚ Might be really pretty for sure, depending on how much color I see on the way down there. ๐Ÿš™

I have my hunting license and back tag set up for 2019. ๐ŸŽซ So I can head out to the field whenever now. ๐Ÿ”ซ Ironically though I’m heading down to West Virginia. I wonder what a weekly out of state license costs for small game down there. That said the days are short and there is much to see down there.

I ordered additional blue jeans ๐Ÿ‘– online from Walmart so I have enough ones for vacation and at work. I also bought a second amendment and Live Free or die shirt ๐Ÿ‘š to wear at camp. Big spender which is bad because I just paid out a shit ton for rent and my car insurance and next I’ll have the repair bill for Big Red. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 60 ๐Ÿ‚ when the sun will be setting at 6:17 pm with dusk at 6:45 pm. On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 55 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 61 degrees. We hit a record high of 81 back in 1930.

 Scenic Otter Creek Road

September 26, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Next Thursday is Last Dusk After 7 PM ๐ŸŒ†. Mostly cloudy and 57 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 51 degrees. BJ Thomas’ Raindrops Keeps Falling on My Head is playing on the radio. ๐Ÿ“ป I brought my rain coat, but think that I might need it later. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Ironically, downstate is going to beautiful today while the Adirondacks will get soaked.

A week from now I’ll be almost ready for my West Virginia trip. โฐ I want to leave before dawn on that Saturday morning so it’s early enough that I can get breakfast ๐Ÿณ in Pennsylvania and have the morning to explore the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. The second day I’ll drive up Hyner View before driving down to West Virginia via US 220 and Interstate 99. I also have most of the rest of the week planned out. โ›บ A

Today will have a chance of showers before 2pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 2pm and 5pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. South wind 7 to 9 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was sticky. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 2017.

The sun will set at 6:46 pm with dusk around 7:14 pm, which is one minute and 46 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 65 degrees. The dew point will be 57 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 47 degrees at 6am. Typical for tonight. West wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 24 occurred back in 1947.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. South wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Maximum dew point of 64 at 7pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Maximum dew point of 58 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 67 degrees.

Tonight I’m heading to the Guilderland library to do some Pine Bush research ๐ŸŒฒso John Wolcott will have to take a rain check โ˜‘. I emailed him about maybe Friday or Saturday. I’d probably do a hike out only part of the day Saturday to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿธ.

As previously noted, next Thursday is Last Dusk After 7 PM ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 6:34 pm with dusk at 7:02 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny skies, patches of fog and temperatures between 65 and 50 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 83 back in 1967.

Watching Fog Burn Off

September 12, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Today is the first 6:30 Sunrise ๐ŸŒ‡. Three weeks to Last Sunset After 7 PM ๐ŸŒ†. Days are getting noticeably shorter. Light drizzle and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a north breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 55 degrees. The skies will clear around 7 pm.

I was going to take the express to work ๐Ÿš but I was running a little late late, so I am taking the local in. I have a stack of books ๐Ÿ“š to return to the library today so maybe it was best not to walk down to the express. ๐Ÿšถ

I actually walked down to the library ๐Ÿ“™ last night but forgot to bring the books to the library. That’s fine, I’ll just drop them off at the Albany library downtown. I also went for my evening walk last night before retiring into bed fairly early after seeing that my credit payment cleared for August. Seemed high but included vacation expenses. ๐Ÿ’ต November will also be a big month for credit card expenses after my October road trip. I guess food and fuel โ›ฝ isn’t that much of strain on the budget but everything is always so tight for me.

Today will have scattered showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 63 degrees at 8am. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 7th. It seems like we have lot of cloudy and damp days in October. ๐ŸMaximum dew point of 56 at 11am. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light drizzle in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was sticky. The high last year was 74 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1947.

The sun will set at 7:11 pm with dusk around 7:39 pm, which is one minute and 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for possible rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 57 degrees. The dew point will be 51 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 39 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

I’m heading over to John Wolcott house after work ๐Ÿ“‚ so I left the light on at home so I can see to unlock the door when I get home with the earlier sunset. The LED bulb ๐Ÿ’ก is on a light sensor but it may be dark enough today it will probably be on most of the day.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear โ˜, with a low of 49 degrees at 4am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 22nd. North wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2018, we had light rain in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was sticky. It got down to 68 degrees. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1964.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. South wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Maximum dew point of 61 at 8pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 73 degrees.

They were talking about how all the leading candidates for president are of the geriatric set, today on the radio ๐Ÿ“ป. You would think that they would be able to recruit somebody who isn’t a million years old ๐Ÿ‘ด and should be enjoying their final years on the beach somewhere. I know if I was that age I’d be doing something useful with my life rather than working in some stuffy office building ๐Ÿข downtown.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Last Sunset After 7 PM ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 6:34 pm with dusk at 7:02 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 65 and 50 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 83 back in 1967.

Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 64 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 2015.

I went grocery shopping, ending up at Walmart. ๐Ÿœ I bought lots of groceries but forgot frozen corn ๐ŸŒฝ. I really should just get fresh sweet corn and maybe something like tomatoes ๐Ÿ…. That would be a good treat. Sure not as easy as opening a bag but more flavorable. I was hungry and my freezer was bare but I should be good for a while. I also gased up Big Red โ›ฝ so his tank is good and full.

I think tomorrow I will get a fairly early start and hike the Harding Road Trail ๐Ÿšถ above Palenville and the Kaaterskill Clove. Probably start from White Road Equestrian lot just because it’s a bigger parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ area for my big truck and then hike up along the escarpment. Some good elevation gain and hopefully some nice views and less popular than other trails. ๐Ÿ“ท

In four weeks on October 5 the sun will be setting at 6:29 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 49 minutes and 31 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 61 and 46 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 64 and 43 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1941.

Looking ahead, Average High 70 ๐ŸŽ‘ is in 2 weeks, Northern Zone Regular Season ๐ŸฆŒ is in 6 weeks, Small Business Saturday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 12 weeks, First Day of Winter โ˜ƒ๏ธ is in 15 weeks, 4:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 16 weeks, Winnie the Pooh Day ๐Ÿฏ is in 19 weeks and 5 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 20 weeks.

Lake

September 7, 2019 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Mostly sunny and 66 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 46 degrees. A pretty nice day, although I decided to stay in town this weekend. Instead, I spent my morning doing trail work at the Holt Preserve in Feura Bush and other things that needed to get done.

I’ve been trying to do more volunteer work these days ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณand be more involved with my community. I like doing trail work, it’s much different from what I do weekdays at work. I still also remain quiet involved with Save the Pine Bush, especially coordinating an leading the hikes, ๐Ÿšถ research ๐Ÿ“‚ and helping out with the dinners. ๐Ÿœ

Also got a lot of other things done that were necessary โŽ …. I got my hair cut ๐Ÿ’ˆso I’ll look nice for the work presentation I’m doing this week in New York, took the paper recyclables โ™ป to the paper ๐Ÿ“„ dumpster at the Park and River. The paper garbage can was getting a little full at home and I don’t like to burn that much paper at camp as it’s kind of hard to burn ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Paper doesn’t burn as easy as you would think, especially the glossy papers.

This afternoon will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 53 at 6pm. Northwest wind around 8 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 77 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1945.

After the trail work day ๐Ÿ‘ท at Holt Preserve I collapsed in bed. ๐Ÿ˜ด I was exhausted. I slept awful last night because I had a cup of strong coffee โ˜•a my coffee often is after work to have enough energy to do my evening walk. While I fell asleep early, I didn’t sleep well with some pretty crazy nightmares. ๐Ÿ’ญ

Later this afternoon I’m going to go and walk out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿธ. I always like the walk ๐Ÿšถ out there and it’s nice to have the bathrooms ๐Ÿšฝ out there to take a piss when I get there. Worse part of hiking in the city. I like being able to pee wherever I want in the wilderness.

The sun will set at 7:19 pm with dusk around 7:47 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 65 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 51 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over yesterday.

I can’t dilly daly too long a Five Rivers ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณas the sun is setting increasingly early. ๐ŸŒ‡ I plan to go shopping later this evening. ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ Definitely kind of low on food but I have $3 off coupon at ShopRite.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 54 degrees at 4am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 9th. Maximum dew point of 54 at 7pm. West wind around 6 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 34 occurred back in 1978.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High 70 ๐ŸŽ‘ when the sun will be setting at 6:54 pm with dusk at 7:22 pm. On that day in 2018, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 71 and 65 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1895.

Back in Powley Place

September 4, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Back to School Day ๐ŸŽ’! It’s a Hump Day although so far traffic hasn’t been too bad. Taking the express in today. ๐ŸšŒ Wednesday is September 11th ๐Ÿ‡ธ. Hard to believe 18 years has passed since then. A child born after September 11th can vote this year. โ˜‘ I was 18 when the attacks happened, I’m twice that now.

Mostly cloudy and 66 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. โ›… There is a south breeze at 13 mph. ๐Ÿƒ wit. There is a touch of humidity with the dew point around 60 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm. Not a terrible walk but brisk because I was a little bit late.๐Ÿšถ

Today will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 1pm and 4pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy โ˜ , with a high of 79 degrees at 1pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around August 27th. Maximum dew point of 65 at 3pm. Southwest wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 89 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1929.

The sun will set at 7:24 pm with dusk around 7:53 pm, which is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 72 degrees. The dew point will be 59 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 13 hours of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be scattered showers and thunderstorms before 7pm, then isolated showers between 7pm and 8pm. Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, partly cloudy , with a low of 54 degrees at 5am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 9th. Maximum dew point of 59 at 6pm. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It became very sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 65 degrees. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1974.

Yesterday was a busy day as expected ๐Ÿ’ผ but what got needed to be done got done. I ended up going to the library for a while last night to work on a work project that I had fallen behind schedule somewhat.๐Ÿ“š I was going to work on the blog and some other stuff down there, but the work stuff consumed all my time, and then it was time to go home. Then I ended up going home, and just watching a video I downloaded on my laptop.๐Ÿ“ผ I also put away my camping gear. I misplaced my Bluetooth adapter — I think it’s in my truck but it was getting dark and I couldn’t find it last night.

Still looks like this weekend will be sunny but cool. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 55 at 7pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 71. Maximum dew point of 55 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 76 degrees.

This weekend I am thinking I’ll get a hair cut, ๐Ÿ’ˆand maybe then on Sunday go hiking ๐Ÿšถ before I go out to my parents house, maybe down in the Catskills. Or maybe I’ll head up to Partridge Run and do some hunting, hiking, and fishing. Not totally sure. ๐Ÿ’ญย I don’t want to plan a big adventure to save money, and also because I have a lot of things I need to do around the house, including getting the Save the Pine Bush Map Pyramid Properties Map printed at a print shop before next week. Next Tuesday I’ll be down in New York City, so that will take up most of my day in the evening. The hearing is Wednesday.

Two weeks from Saturday is the Pine Bush Bird Watching Hike ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ•Š so I will probably stay in town that weekend, and then there is only one more weekend in September — and the first week of October I’m leaving for West Virginia. ๐Ÿš˜ So who knows how many more times I’ll get out this month. I do think I want to do a fall trip up to Piseco-Powley Road, although sometimes those campsites get snapped up quickly during hunting season. ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ That said, my West Virginia trip is early enough in October this year so I might be able to do a late October trip.๐Ÿ‚

I’ve been continuing to research the various Python and Javascript libraries available for interacting with Renology Rover MPPT controller.ย ๐Ÿ”ณ I am increasingly thinking that’s what I will get around Christmas this year, when sales are available, and I want to hook up the Raspberry Pi to use it to broadcast battery status information to my phone using Bluetooth, and then also read data from the starting battery, and dumping excess current into the starting battery to keep it topped up. Using a Raspberry Pi and the MPPT controller could minimize the amount of wires and components I need to build my smart relay, reducing the chance of failure.๐Ÿ’ป

Today in 1970, Salvador Allende is elected President of Chile. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Only three years later on September 11th, he would be assassinated with the help of the United States by one of the most notorious tyrants Augusto Pinochet. โœŠ The Price is Right went on CBS for the first time in 1972, and over the past five decades hasn’t changed much.๐Ÿค‘ I used to like watching it on my grandfather’s TV some 30 years ago.๐Ÿ“บ

Also, in 1949 The Peekskill riots were anti-communist race riots directed against African Americans and Jews attending a civil rights benefit concert. ๐ŸŽท The catalyst for the rioting was an announced concert by black singer Paul Robeson, who was well known for his strong pro-trade union stance, civil rights activism, communist affiliations, and anti-colonialism.โš– The concert, organized as a benefit for the Civil Rights Congress, was scheduled to take place on August 27 in Lakeland Acres.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 6:59 pm with dusk at 7:27 pm. On that day in 2018, we had rain and temperatures between 84 and 68 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 71 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1891.

Paddling Thru Cedar River

September 2, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Labor Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ! Kind of a rainy, wet Labor Day although things seem to be improving. I made some coffee up โ˜• and are finishing taking down my campsite. I took down the flags last night and my truck cap stayed pretty dry last night despite the intense rain we had for a while. ๐Ÿ’ฆ This campsite is well drained so the rain wasn’t really an issue.

This Labor Day morning is cloudy, damp and 57 degrees at the Perkins Clearing Easement. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 57 degrees. Not going to be a real nice day but it looks like the rain has let up and the skies will clear around 7 pm.

Labor Day will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 1pm and 5pm. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 64 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 2nd. Maximum dew point of 61 at 2pm. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of Perkins Clearingprecipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It became sticky as the day progressed. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953.

The sun will set at 7:31 pm with dusk around 8:00 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 60 degrees. The dew point will be 58 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 52 degrees at 4am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 14th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 6pm. West wind 5 to 7 mph. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was very sticky. It got down to 73 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1976.

So Labor Day Weekend has come and gone. Well at least the camping โ›บ part of it once I finish taking down camp. I am in no rush at any rate. I might go for a walk ๐Ÿšถ at the Speculator River Walk before heading home ๐Ÿก but then I’ll be home. Four weeks from now I’ll be West Virginia, ๐Ÿ‘as I’m doing my road trip a week earlier this year as usually the colors are done by Columbus Day Weekend in the high country and because I’m house sitting as my parents house the following week. ๐Ÿถ

The camp stove continues to work well with both burners โ™จ and I’ll replace the broken chair ๐Ÿšฎbefore the next time I camp. ๐Ÿ’บNeed to get propane, especially now that I know they don’t sell it at Tractor Supply ๐Ÿšœ in Amsterdam. That said, there were plenty of other places that sold propane, but I skipped it and I made out okay, although I’ll need it for the next trip.

I could have gotten propane at Frank’s Gun Store on the way up here but I’d probably end up buying yet another gun ๐Ÿ”ซ and honestly I need to save some money as my car insurance is due at the end of the month. ๐Ÿ’ต I thought about switching insurers but I’ll probably just drop off my insurance reduction certificate from the class to State Farm. I like the coverage and rates of Progressive but it’s a pain figuring out all the details of the switch. ๐Ÿ”Ž The difference in price for equivalent plans isn’t that great.

Probably cheaper to get propane at Tractor Supply, it’s a loss leader for them to sell more cowboy hats ๐ŸŽฉ and in my case more Carhart shit that I just got to have. But self restraint is possible in hopes of a better life tomorrow in a freer state. โœ… Gotta have the AR-15 to ventilate that garbage burning barrel, when you live out in the sticks in a red state. How else are you going to have fun putting holes in your barrel?๐Ÿ›ข๐Ÿ”ซ

Changing topics, I need to get a better shovel. It’s hard digging through the roots to bury the poop at the end of the camping trip. ๐Ÿ’ฉ A troel works but it’s hard work. While the bucket shitter means I’m only digging one hole, I like digging a deep hole because I hate finding toilet paper flowers in the woods. I guess I should separate out the toilet paper and burn it but as long as it’s buried deep enough with the bacteria from the poop it should rot away quickly. I bet the local hardware store would sell a small spade โ™ค for such purposes.

Cool next weekend with temperatures running 15 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 63. Maximum dew point of 49 at 12pm. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 59. Typical average high for the weekend is 76 degrees. Probably won’t be so cool back in Albany but hardly swimming weather at any rate. I might hunt next weekend ๐Ÿ€ at a local state forest ๐ŸŒฒ but I doubt I’ll head out of town for a few more weeks. I like traveling but becomes a lot of work after a while and there is a lot of things I could be doing closer to home. ๐Ÿข

I returned 107 beer cans from camp to Shoprite the other day. โ™ป It’s all from camping because I don’t drink at home. I don’t always eat the healthiest crap up at camp and maybe have a smoke from time to time. ๐Ÿด Camping is fun but maybe too much fun at times.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Columbus Day ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 6:27 pm with dusk at 6:56 pm. On that day in 2018, we had cloudy, mist and temperatures between 72 and 52 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 63 degrees. We hit a record high of 89 back in 1963.

Saturday I hiked Panther Mountain
