I have to say it wasn’t the busiest day ever 💤but after the snow storm came out went and then that late night at work I’m rather tired. Fixing the skis was the big thing and I probably wasted too much time watch the YouTube lately. 📼 I’m happy though I think I’ve worked out most of the major problems with the blog, especially the speed issue which has been bugging me for some time.

Feeling a bit stiff and sore this evening. 😩 I thought that was the Lyme and the doxycline was to take care of that. Not terrible but maybe it’s also all the time I spent on the exercise bike or the near slipping a few times on the black ice ❄. I’ve been trying to carefully follow the antibiotics schedule but sometimes it varies when I can do it 💊 and it can be tough on my stomach to take it empty stomach.

I went for my evening walk 🚶 and while it was cool it want too bad wearing gloves and moving. My goatee iced up a bit but with a calm breeze it didn’t seem super cold for December. I’ve certainly been out walking on much colder evenings.

I did flip the switch to pull power from the solar panel to the starting battery 🔋 so I should be in good shape to start Big Red come the morning although I wonder if I should have disconnected the switch before dark to keep the batteries from fighting. Red is free of snow although I’ve not started him since the car wash on last Sunday morning. 🚘 He looks so nice and clean compared to most cars on the road but alas tomorrow I have to go to the store 🏬 and my parents house for Sunday dinner so he’ll get dirty again. But then it will rain Monday, helping to wash away some of the salt.

Looking forward to getting that voltage sensitive relay switch from China 📟 and being able to use that to automatically connect the starting battery when the solar panel is putting out enough energy to charge it. It will make it easier and totally eliminate the guess work on when to flip the switch, keeping the batteries better balanced. I could envision a lot of useful projects with a voltage sensitive switch, especially when I have my off grid property eventually. 🏡

The skis and ski boots have been sealed and the glue has hardened on the one ski 🎿 whose tip was broken so that I should be ready to go come the morning. I think I’m going to drive to Elsmere and do the rail trail in the morning and go shopping after that. The best part of the day will be in the morning tomorrow as clouds ahead of the rain are expected to push in come Sunday evening. Looking at quite a bit of rain 💦 and snow melt Monday into Tuesday, places that often flood in the spring time might flood. I’m definitely going to need the rain coat come Monday and might take the local to work.

John Wolcott wants to know if I can come over this week. 🔍📂I got to think about it some more but not Thursday as I have to bake a cake 🎂 or something for the work holiday party 🎄 on Thursday night. I probably should figure out what I want to cook so I can buy the ingredients tomorrow while I’m at the store. 🍰

I am toying with the idea 💡 of requesting December 30th off work, as I have New Year’s Eve and Day off as holidays. I am thinking it would be fun to toast the new year in the wilderness, possibly if we got a nice run of weather out in the Finger Lakes or somewhere else nice. 🎇I could ask and maybe I’ll get it. Who knows though it’s likely to be crappy snowy weather. I miss night’s in the wilderness ⛺ – I had such fun last year.

A cold morning and my apartment got really cold ❄ by the middle of night but has warmed up nicely. I went out and knocked the snow off the solar panel on the truck and I should be ready to go 🚙 once I decide to head out this weekend.

I think I found the plug-in that was slowing down the blog, and I re-wrote it to avoid the problem. 🔌 I’m continuing to debug the revised code but hope to make it live today. The plug-ins you can get for WordPress are good but sometimes they aren’t a good fit for my blog, especially as it has grown and changed over the years. 💻

In a little bit I’m going to head to the library 📚 and switch over to the new code and maybe download a few more videos to watch later on today. 📹

November 30, 2019 Morning

Getting my hair cut 💈 this morning, then I’m going to run to the store and get toilet paper 🚽 and drain cleaner and other supplies for the week. Little things but I’ll be glad once the bathroom sink is working properly and I don’t feel like a long haired hippie. 💇

I‘m thinking about going to Walmart tomorrow and washing the truck 🛀 tomorrow before parking 🅿 it for the snow storm. I really need to get a replacement cradle for my phone in my truck and I don’t want to wait for AliExpress. 📱While I’m there I’ll also pick up some bulk containers of drain solvent – bigger than the one I have now because I find at least once a month I need some drain solvent in the bathroom sink to keep it working well. And that’s with a hair stopper on all the drains. Plumbing in rental apartments are always shitty at least the cheap place I live in.

The Doxycline seems to make me feel incredibly sick at times 💊 after I first take it in the morning on the an empty stomach. For a few minutes this morning I felt like I was going to puke over the floor. Also I had a headache again for a while this morning. Took some Tylenol this morning and I’m feel better. Not sure if that’s Lyme or the poor air quality in my musty and moldy apartment.

If I didn’t like how the apartment was on the bus line 🚏and relatively cheap 💸, I’d consider a nicer place. But I’d probably make a mess of it. I’m a dirty hick 💩 at heart ♥ so I’d make any place I live in a mess. Maybe that’s why I like wilderness and agriculture so much, 🐮 it’s not that neat and orderly and contains lots of mud and manure.

November 29, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Buy Nothing Day 🛍️! Hey it’s a holiday off from work so I can’t complain. I might have to run to the store to get some drain solvent for that stupid bathroom drain that always plugs and maybe you some cheese 🍊 and a few other supplies. Eggs without cheese for breakfast Isa criminal offense. 🍳 Next Friday is Saint Nicholas Day 🎅. I think I’m supposed to have a shoe 👟 graphic for that or Santa with the black face indicator flag on. Dutch pride! My grandmother a few generations back was very much proud Dutch. Dutch rednecks are the best especially those who migrate to Americas to farm or so I maintain based on the YouTube.

But most of sting is out of my arm 🙋 and I have been feel less achy. 🎯Still have the bullseye but it’s faded away. Modem medicine is amazing with Lyme if you catch it early.🐞

Recycling ♻ is often being found out to be a scam like so many of the renewable energy schemes, especially when we are gluttons addicted to energy and technology. ⚡Making less garbage and using less energy is better than any greenies crap that you can get from Ellon Musk. 💩 The greenies who are hollier than holy have their heads planted in the ground. 🌲

If it gets nice out I plan to walk out to Five Rivers 🐸. Then down to the library maybe to launch the freshened up version of the blog. It’s not a totally new look but it’s a needed refresh that should load faster and look a little bit nicer while remaining the conservative styling that I like. ✒There is a lot of cool things you can do with CSS 3, which nowadays is well supported by all modern browsers. The new design is a child theme of blankslate theme but if that is not supported in the future, I can easily port it to simple theme as I wrote all the styling rules myself.

I hadn’t just been up north last weekend I’m sure I’d be going up north and hot tenting. ⛺ But I don’t like driving in the snow or getting stuck going back to camp. Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Next Saturday is Small Business Saturday 🛍️. Mostly sunny and 33 degrees in Delmar. There is a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃.

This morning I’m heading up to the Adirondacks for an overnight. ⛺ It’s a beautiful day. I’m going to do a bit of hiking today and then maybe hunt a bit tomorrow. 🔫 Little worried about snow on the roads on the way home but little snow is expected up north. Bringing the snow shovel and salt if need be, should be fine though with little to no snow. ❄

Still researching and figuring out which doctor 😷 to visit to address the bullseye from Lyme on my arm. 🙋 I want to get it addressed but I want to visit an in network doctor. My normal doctor office closed 🔐 so I think after calling other doctors the next best option is in network urgent care center like I used when I sprain my ankle four years ago. Feeling okay right now and the tick bite was over a month ago now but I want to address this by next week. I know Lyme can get very severe quickly but I also know visiting the wrong doctor to get medical help can drain a bank account quickly. 🏦

A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 28 degrees. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 20 degrees. The record low of 7 occurred back in 2000.

In December I’m still considering a winter camping trip in the Finger Lakes National Forest but that depends on the forecast 🌲and how busy I am during that month with work.
