Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Im glad I got to sleep in, I’ve been staying up too late lately. Two weeks to Winnie the Pooh Day 🍯. Rain and 38 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜” Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 1 am. β˜ƒοΈ

Still a bit achy and sore 😩 this morning but the sleep helped. 💤I really got to work on improving my sleep habits. I’m going to take some Tylenol so hopefully I’ll feel better soon. 💊

Today will rain before 5pm, then rain and snow. 🌧 High of 39 degrees at 10am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 7th. I think 💭 it may taper off midday. ☁ North wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 64 was set in 1950. 8.8 inches of snow fell back in 2003.❄

I got to get milk 🐮 before I can have coffee β˜•. Then I want to get to the library and return my library books, 📚 and get w fee more vodeos 📹 to watch while on the exercise bike 🚲 later. Then I got to get to the 🏬 as my fridge is very bare. 🍲 I also want to wash my truck. 🚿

🌹🌻🌼Only 75 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

Nice round number 🔢 today. But honestly we have more spring like weather already in January with the rain and highs in the 40s. Before you know it will be April 1st trout season. 🎣

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Winnie the Pooh Day 🍯 when the sun will be setting at 4:50 pm with dusk at 5:21 pm. On that day in 2019, we had snow showers, mostly cloudy and temperatures between 35 and 21 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1973.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Back to work today after my five days away from work and some nice camping too. β›Ί It’s the New Year, full of hope and working for a better tomorrow. πŸŽ‡ Next Thursday is Static Electric Shock Day 🧼. How shocking. Never have much problem with static in my apartment as the air is never real dry. Partly cloudy and 30 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. β›… There is a south breeze at 8 mph. πŸƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. 🌑️

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 45 degrees at 3pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 17th. It will feel almost like a spring day in January. 🌸 No flowers yet but we can look forward to nicer days in about three months. Not seeing much cold in the forecast in the near future. South wind 8 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 34 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 1890. 7.1 inches of snow fell back in 2014.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:00 pm with sun having an altitude of 24.4Β° from the due south horizon (-46.4Β° vs. 6/21). It’s starting to climb a bit more as summer approaches. Not 70.8 yet! The golden hour πŸ… starts at 3:48 pm with the sun in the southwest (231Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239Β°) starting at 4:30 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 24 seconds with dusk around 5:04 pm, which is 52 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:41 pm. At sunset, look for partly sunny skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of 48 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have increasing clouds ☁, with a low of 34 degrees at 1am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 6th. South wind 7 to 9 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of -14 occurred back in 1970.

I saw one of the CDTA all electric battery πŸ”‹ buses 🚍 running the 233 Schodack Run today. I’m glad, electric buses are the future. They bought the buses last summer but now they are live. I am hopeful the technology works out well, as it could have a lot of emissions reductions. A lot of public transit authorities are adopting electric buses, and it could have a significant impact on local air quality — and possibly noise reduction too. Morever, the all electric buses will be cleaner and nicer neighbors — the low sulfur diesel fuel and pollution traps help a lot — but emissions controls aren’t always perfect. Also, the ANSWERS smoke stack is totally gone now — they finished tearing it down last week. It’s a commitment towards a cleaner air quality for all.🏭

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. πŸ™ Saturday, rain, possibly mixed with snow, becoming all rain after 7am. High near 40. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Sunday, a chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 31 degrees.

Staying in town this weekend. 🏑 I heard Saturday may be very wet. Maybe that’s when I’ll wash my truck. πŸš™ I can probably come up with enough groceries around town in the mean time. 🍴 It’s good to use up the food 🍲 I have at home. Not sure if I will do it this weekend but I want to go over to John Wolcott house and work on scanning in the index πŸ“‡ for his files πŸ“‚ and use it to make labels and a type set index to keep them better organized. It will have to be a Saturday so I can drive into the city with the big heavy Save the Pine Bush scanner.

I am continuing to research mental health services with my insurance provider and start to call around. πŸ“ž I am thinking a little bit of counseling and self reflection with a neutral party could really boost my productivity at work πŸ’Ό and open up new career opportunities. Maybe I’ll have more courage and confidence to do more job interviews or see a promotion and make more money πŸ’΅ after some counseling. If I could turn 8 counseling sessions at $25 co-pay a piece over four months into a future $10,000 raise over a decade of investing that could be well over $100k and plug that gap in my future plans for the off-grid property out west. I have a lot of important decisions to make, especially as 2021 gets underway, and I want to make them as well as possible.

🌹🌻🌼Only 77 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

As previously noted, next Thursday is Static Electric Shock Day 🧼 when the sun will be setting at 4:40 pm with dusk at 5:11 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 2008.

White Rocks Overlook

December 25, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Merry Christmas 🎅! Yes, you are still allowed to say that in Trump’s America. That said, don’t say that next Wednesday or you’ll look absurd on the first day of 2020. Next Wednesday is New Years Day 🎉 . I’ll be having coffee β˜• and tearing down camp β›Ί around this time next week.

So, yes a Merry Christmas to you 🎄. Keep Christ in Christmas. It’s a good excuse to have a bonfire 🔥 with all that wrapping paper 📦 and Styrofoam that of course after dark to avoid the black smoke 💨 and when the wind is blowing the opposite way of the obnoxious neighbor a quarter mile down the road. β›² And celebrate Christ 🎂 who was born in a manager full of hay when the cow and goats were kicked out of his barn. 🐮 I bet all that was compostable and Jesus’ 👶 bedding was spread on the fields and allowed to rot into fertilizer that made the corn 🌽 grow better than it otherwise would. βž• Miracle grow. Those manure spreaders with the vertical beaters really do a good at getting an even spread of the organic matter compared to the old style spreaders but they probably weren’t as common in Jesus’ time. 💩

But this morning has times of clouds and sun around thirty degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. Maybe not all that impressive of a White Christmas. ❄ There are 1.5 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Probably that’s racist nowadays. Especially with climate change and all those boys and girls in Pennsyltucky and Missouri making black smoke. 🌎 ️Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌡️ See already the planet, as defined by Albany, the center of the universe 🌌 is getting warmer.

Christmas Day 🎄 will be a nice one, mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 39 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 7th. I’ll take such nice weather. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1889. 19.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.❄ Funny thing is that I don’t really remember that snow storm when I was a sophomore in college. 🎓

The sun will set at 4:27 pm with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 37 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 So that much later. I’ll get fifteen plus minutes in Finger Lakes. At sunset, look for partly sunny skies 🌃 and temperatures around 38 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of 14 seconds over yesterday.

I should get out and do something fun today but I have like no fuel β›½ in my truck and I don’t know if they sell gasoline on the Christmas 🎄 or maybe that is just my excuse not to spend any money on the holiday. It might be fun to ski at Partridge Run as they still have snow up there. 🎿 I guess my parents are making Christmas dinner 🍲 so I’ll go out there and maybe I can stop somewhere on the way out there. Depends on how nice the weather is. I’ll have plenty of a chance to hike and ski in the Finger Lakes and split wood, etc. 🗻 I can always just get my steps in walking around the neighborhood and riding the excercise bike 🚲.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 24 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 9th. Light and variable wind. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of -17 occurred back in 1914.

Now it looks like Monday will be wetter then Sunday, especially in the Finger Lakes. 💦 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 41. Should be a good day for the drive and setting up camp. β›Ί Sunday, a chance of rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50 in the Finger Lakes. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Still not expecting a wash out but it might be a good day for reading 📖 and cooking 🍳 at camp. And having a fire and burning stuff. 🔥 Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. Freezing cold but I won’t be with my big ass heater.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is New Years Day 2020 🎉 when I’ll be heading back home 🏡 and the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm with dusk at 5:04 pm in the Albany. On that day in 2019, we had mostly cloudy, a rather mild day with rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 57 back in 1966.

Pine Creek

December 24, 2019 Night

Good evening on this Christmas Eve 🕯️ ! Partly cloudy and 27 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. 🌡️

Had a nice lunch with the parents and my neice and sister 👪 and we exchanged presents 📦. We had macaroni and cheese for lunch although I guess tomorrow my parents are also doing a formal Christmas dinner 🍲. My neice is already getting close to four, I remember her baby shower a few years ago 👶. She’s got such a large vocabulary and is so smart being plugged into the whole Saratoga scene.

Hiking Bennett Hill was nice but I need to repair microspikes that I strap on my boots 👢. One of them had a wire break while another had a chain 🔗 pop loose. Easy enough to fix but walking back after sunset with the microspikes off it was slippery and I sort of twisted my ankle a bit. I’m fine though. I did enjoy the sunset and the rural agricultural landscape. 🚜 I miss that so much living in the city even though I do live far enough on the outskirts of the city I can still tell when the farm down the street is spreading manure. 💩 Someday I’ll move to some rural areas a few miles out from a small town like an Oneida or a Utica or a Plattsburgh but not in New York with all the gun laws and fire restrictions.β›” But in the mean time, next week’s road trip should be great.

I was going to go out for my evening walk 🚶 after I got back from hiking Bennett Hill but I was tired and got watching the YouTube videos I downloaded this week. 🎥 I probably watch too much but at least it’s add free and a lot of stuff I watch is educational even if it’s not as good as reading 📖. When I’m camping in the Finger Lakes next week I’ll do a lot more reading for sure. I thought about riding the exercise bike 🚲 but I’m not sure if my neighbor was home – his lights were off but his car 🚙 was in the drive. I think he may have gone to the city on a bus or with a designated driver. 🍻 I’m still not sure if I’m coming down with something or it’s the Lyme disease. I am feeling again like I was in early November. I’m not thinking 💭 it will impact my trip next weekend but who knows.

I was watching this amazing video of a weather balloon with a camera floating up from earth to the stratosphere. ☁ I guess the same thing you’d see on a plane ✈ but I haven’t been on an airplane in years and it’s fascinating to see the different – and quite thin layer that seperates all of mankind from the vast emptiness of outer space that is extremely hostile to all life. 🌎 The atmosphere is really only a few miles thick. Honestly, I really like the idea of the Space Force and a greater emphasis on the understanding of the earth’s climate and the boundaries between space and the earth. 🚀

Christmas Eve will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 19 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 23rd. Maximum wind chill around 15 at 4am; Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. In 2018, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 24 degrees. The record low of -22 occurred back in 1969.

Tonight will have a New Moon. 🌚 Not much too see though as tonight is fairly cloudy. The sun will rise at 7:23 am with the first light at 6:51 am, which is 25 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 57 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 11 seconds over last night.

Christmas Day will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 38 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 10th. I think that’s a bit too optimistic based on other forecasts I’ve seen lately but so be it. I’m thinking more clouds. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph. I have less than a quarter tank of gas in my truck β›½ so I have to be careful how far I go. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1889. 19.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.❄

A week from now will be New Year Eve 🎉and my final night of my Finger Lakes camping adventure. It should be a nice trip but the second day might be quite rainy β˜” based on the forecast but a good chance to get through a book of two in the tent, sitting next to the heater 🎪. They have even less snow there than here at this point, I think it will totally be gone by the time I get there – but fortunately not so muddy because it is expected to be a fairly dry week until Sunday out there. At least next Sunday will give me a chance to do a lot of reading 📖 and maybe some writing too.

For Christmas 🎄my parents got me a nice little rechargeable lantern 🏮 that is perfect in the tent for reading at night especially with the nights so long now and the heater adding to the ambiance. Although also I’m looking forward to some long winter nights and hopefully getting the quality sleep that seems impossible lately at home – it’s terrible 😰 how I keep waking up at 3 or 4 each morning and can’t get back to sleep. 🎅 Maybe it’s Santa Claus waking me up each night, but it seems like every winter my sleep declines enormously. I think it’s too few nights in the woods. I still haven’t tested my big gas lantern, mainly because I have no where to hang it. I really should consider getting a lantern post but the thing is usually in the woods I have trees I can run a rope between to hang the lantern from. I really should do this tomorrow. And maybe start pulling stuff for camping from the attic. Gotta get my holiday decorations out tomorrow to hang at camp. . I’m hoping to also get a few extra Christmas lights and extension cords to use up at camp to replace broken and then cracked ones. 🔌

In four weeks on January 21 the sun will be setting at 4:53 pm,🌄 which is 27 minutes and 28 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had snow showers, cold weather, partly cloudy and temperatures between 5 and -7 degrees. That was a pretty cold day but not unheard of for January. My metrologist friend says he thinks late January this winter will be just as cold if not colder. I guess I wouldn’t mind the cold so much if my place had a better heater and more insulation. Typically, you have temperatures between 30 and 14 degrees. The record high of 61 degrees was set back in 2006.

Looking ahead, New Years Eve 🎆 is in 1 week, Coldest Week of the Year 🌬 is in 3 weeks, Martin Luther King Day 🖤 is in 4 weeks, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day 🥛 is in 7 weeks, National Drink Wine Day 🍷 is in 8 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 is in 12 weeks, 7:30 PM Sunset 🌇 is in 15 weeks, Cinco de Mayo 🤠 is in 19 weeks, Primary Day 🗳️ is in 26 weeks, Latest Sunset 🌆 is in 6 months, Election Day 2020 🗳️ is in 45 weeks and Election Day 2020 🗳️ is in 45 weeks.

December 24, 2019 Morning

Good morning! A very Merry Christmas Eve 🕯️ to you! Next Tuesday is New Years Eve 🎆. Mostly cloudy and around freezing in Delmar, NY. β›… There is a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️In some outlying areas there still is enough snow left for a White Christmas 🎄.

Dipping some gingerbread into coffee β˜• this morning, looking at the clouds as they start to break up. 🥮 Going to bake some cookies in a bit for the Christmas lunch I’m going to at my parents house later on today with my niece and sister. 🍪 Heading out there around noon or so.

Later on Christmas Eve 🕯️ will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 38 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 10th. North wind around 7 mph. I’ll take weather like that. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. I don’t remember it being so warm and sunny last year but I guess it was. I stayed in town last year for Christmas which was a Tuesday last year and went out camping New Years Eve after the Save the Pine Bush Hike. The record high of 72 was set in 2015. 13 inches of snow fell back in 1966.❄

The sun will set at 4:26 pm with dusk around 4:58 pm, which is 34 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌃 and temperatures around 36 degrees. Nice Christmas sunset! There will be a north breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of 9 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 17 degrees at 6am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 27th. North wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2018, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 24 degrees. The record low of -22 occurred back in 1969. Blizzard of the 1969!

I woke up early this morning but I got to back to asleep fairly easily. 😴 A little achy and sore today, I’ll probably take some aspirin and hopefully I’ll feel better later on. 🥴 Coffee β˜•and gingerbread 🥴 is good.

Doesn’t look too bad for starting out my road trip! β›… Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 42. Sunday, a chance of rain or freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. Similar forecast for the Finger Lakes, maybe a bit warmer. Snow is largely gone at this point and will be totally gone by Saturday. I’m actually thinking about leaving on Friday mid-day and staying over in Madison County but I don’t know if I want to winter camp for just one night 🌃.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is New Years Eve 🎆 when the sun will be setting at 4:31 pm with dusk at 5:03 pm. It will be about fifteen minutes later out in the Finger Lakes. On that day in 2018, we had rain and temperatures between 41 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 32 degrees. We hit a record high of 61 back in 1895.

White Rocks Overlook

December 22, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Days are Getting Longer β˜€οΈ! Summer is coming in another six months but winter and black fly season is first! Two weeks to National Bird Day 🐧. Partly sunny and 27 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There is a inch of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌡️

This morning started out cloudy β›… but it is quickly clearing. Not sure if the voltage switch ⚑ is going to hit the 14.0 volts to turn on, if not I may set it lower at least on an experimental basis. I also think I’ll reduce the anti-retrip mode down from 8 minutes to 60 seconds. It’s worthwhile experimenting to see what produces the maximum charge on both batteries. 🔋

I got to take a shower 🚿 and then head to the store 🏬 before the crowds get there. 🍖 I also have some beer cans to return from my November camping trip 🍻 as last time the machine was full so I didn’t return them all. I want to test the gas lantern 🏮 and get that ready for my camping trip next.

I had waffles for breakfast 🍳 but I’m going to have to get more waffle mix if I want to have more next week. The nice thing is that I only have to work Monday next week and then I have Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off. 🎄 I doubt they’re going to be much snow left for the holidays as we lost a fair amount of snow yesterday and even more should disappear after today’s sun and warmth.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 39 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 7th. South wind around 6 mph. Yeah, save on the heat. ♨ A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 1990. 12.3 inches of snow fell back in 1969.❄ It looks like this year though we are going to end it snow free. 🚫I’m fine with that as snow can be problematic while camping β›Ί although mud much more so. 🐽

The sun will set at 4:25 pm with dusk around 4:57 pm, which is 30 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌃 and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 2 minutes of daytime, a decrease of over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 26 degrees at 5am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 4th. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2018, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1955.

A week from now I will be having my first camp breakfast 🍳 and splitting firewood. 🔥 I just hope it’s not too cloudy ☁ and damp but there is a lot that could change in the forecast by then. If it’s nice, I’ll enjoy sitting down by Seneca Lake in Clute Park or doing some cross country skiing if a little bit of snow remains, which seems increasingly unlikely now. 🎿

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until National Bird Day 🐧 when the sun will be setting at 4:35 pm with dusk at 5:07 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1950.

White Rocks Overlook

December 20, 2019 Night

Good evening! Clear and 10 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Things will start to thaw out at Sunday around 10 am. 🌡️ Last real cold night for a while, but I so hopefully I can turn the heat down tomorrow and maybe my evening walk again.

Had a nice lunch at work when the director took everybody out to lunch 🍻 and I of course had enough beer that I was very quiet the rest of the afternoon and then left early. 🍲 Holiday parties can be fun especially when you don’t have to drive. Big meal, 🍴 I skipped dinner because I was full and very tired 😴 after all the food and drink. I only have a drinking problem when I want to.

Got home early, spent a bunch of time looking for parts and components I need to put together 🔍the voltage ⚑ switch on my truck or tomorrow. Had to dig all through my electronics box to find the Shotsky diodes I needed for the project. For a while I thought 💭 they were lost and I was concerned. Found them and built the harness.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 5 degrees at 5am. 14 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 5 at 5am; Calm wind. In 2018, we had light rain. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1942.

Tonight will have a Waning Crescent Moon 🌘 with 18% illuminated. The moon will rise at 2:04 am. The New Moon is on Wednesday night with mostly cloudy skies. The is on Wednesday night. The sun will rise at 7:21 am with the first light at 6:49 am, which is 34 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 57 minutes of darkness, an increase of 6 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 28 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees below normal. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 2018. 6.6 inches of snow fell back in 2008.❄

I am hoping for a nice day tomorrow for the Save the Pine Bush Ski 🎿 trip in the morning. Hopefully the Pine Bush will be quite nice. I put together the wiring harness for voltage switch ⚑ and double checked the specifications of everything and studied the data sheet for the diode to make sure everything would work perfectly. Those Shotsky diodes have a higher voltage drop then I expected at higher currents although in the grand scheme of things not that critical as it only wastes a half watt when the trucks big alternator is spinning. The isolator relay itself uses about six watts – as it draws nearly 500 mA to stay closed – or so I’m told. I’m actually curious, I should test this.

Been thinking a little bit about getting a heating blanket as a cheap way to stay warm ♨ without having to turn the heat on so much. They don’t use that much power compared to a space heater and are typically safer. 50 watts is typical as you are only heating near yourself. But it just seems like more stuff and I don’t need more. It’s plenty warm under the covers. 💤

In four weeks on January 17 the sun will be setting at 4:49 pm,🌄 which is 24 minutes and 37 seconds later then tonight.
