December 25, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Merry Christmas 🎅! Yes, you are still allowed to say that in Trump’s America. That said, don’t say that next Wednesday or you’ll look absurd on the first day of 2020. Next Wednesday is New Years Day 🎉 . I’ll be having coffee โ˜• and tearing down camp โ›บ around this time next week.

So, yes a Merry Christmas to you 🎄. Keep Christ in Christmas. It’s a good excuse to have a bonfire 🔥 with all that wrapping paper 📦 and Styrofoam that of course after dark to avoid the black smoke 💨 and when the wind is blowing the opposite way of the obnoxious neighbor a quarter mile down the road. โ›ฒ And celebrate Christ 🎂 who was born in a manager full of hay when the cow and goats were kicked out of his barn. 🐮 I bet all that was compostable and Jesus’ 👶 bedding was spread on the fields and allowed to rot into fertilizer that made the corn 🌽 grow better than it otherwise would. โž• Miracle grow. Those manure spreaders with the vertical beaters really do a good at getting an even spread of the organic matter compared to the old style spreaders but they probably weren’t as common in Jesus’ time. 💩

But this morning has times of clouds and sun around thirty degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. Maybe not all that impressive of a White Christmas. โ„ There are 1.5 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Probably that’s racist nowadays. Especially with climate change and all those boys and girls in Pennsyltucky and Missouri making black smoke. 🌎 ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌡๏ธ See already the planet, as defined by Albany, the center of the universe 🌌 is getting warmer.

Christmas Day 🎄 will be a nice one, mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 39 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 7th. I’ll take such nice weather. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1889. 19.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.โ„ Funny thing is that I don’t really remember that snow storm when I was a sophomore in college. 🎓

The sun will set at 4:27 pm with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 37 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 So that much later. I’ll get fifteen plus minutes in Finger Lakes. At sunset, look for partly sunny skies 🌃 and temperatures around 38 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, an increase of 14 seconds over yesterday.

I should get out and do something fun today but I have like no fuel โ›ฝ in my truck and I don’t know if they sell gasoline on the Christmas 🎄 or maybe that is just my excuse not to spend any money on the holiday. It might be fun to ski at Partridge Run as they still have snow up there. 🎿 I guess my parents are making Christmas dinner 🍲 so I’ll go out there and maybe I can stop somewhere on the way out there. Depends on how nice the weather is. I’ll have plenty of a chance to hike and ski in the Finger Lakes and split wood, etc. 🗻 I can always just get my steps in walking around the neighborhood and riding the excercise bike 🚲.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 24 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 9th. Light and variable wind. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of -17 occurred back in 1914.

Now it looks like Monday will be wetter then Sunday, especially in the Finger Lakes. 💦 Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 41. Should be a good day for the drive and setting up camp. โ›บ Sunday, a chance of rain after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50 in the Finger Lakes. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Still not expecting a wash out but it might be a good day for reading 📖 and cooking 🍳 at camp. And having a fire and burning stuff. 🔥 Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. Freezing cold but I won’t be with my big ass heater.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is New Years Day 2020 🎉 when I’ll be heading back home 🏡 and the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm with dusk at 5:04 pm in the Albany. On that day in 2019, we had mostly cloudy, a rather mild day with rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 57 back in 1966.

Good morning! Happy Cold and Sunny Thursday. Next Thursday is Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ. Back to work then after Christmas ๐ŸŽ„. Sunny and 8 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. โ˜€ There is a northwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 26 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The current wind chill is -5. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThe deep freeze will continue until Sunday around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Honestly I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration because when I walked down to the express bus it didn’t seem that cold โ„. The wind had died down, it was a bit blustery earlier in the day before the sun came up, now the wind is more light and variable. Probably worse in city with the tall buildings. ๐Ÿƒ In a few weeks when we get a good artic freeze in January or February, this weather will look quite warm. Negative 15 is remarkably colder then 8 above. I should probably switch over to Celsius in 2020.

The Love of the Land ๐Ÿ˜ YouTube channel that I follow says the best winter temperature is about negative 5, eh. That’s Celsius or about 25 degrees. He’s a big coyote trapper and raises Charolais cattle among other livestock, in a pretty wet part of Ontario in the Great Lakes region. ๐Ÿฎ So you can bet he appreciates a good frozen ground with no mud but not so cold that it’s miserable out. At that temperature, a freshly harvested trap line is unlikely to be frozen hard between checks ๐Ÿบ and probably in a barnyard is actually quite warm with all the waste heat cattle produce. Back in the day, farm families used to build houses over the barnyards to help provide for heating. โ™จ

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 17 degrees at 2pm. 18 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -5 at 8am; Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. I’m sure once I get in the office ๐Ÿข it will be plenty warm and if not I’ll turn up the heat. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 37 degrees. The record high of 54 was set in 1895. 7.8 inches of snow fell back in 2008.โ„

The sun will set at 4:24 pm with dusk around 4:56 pm, which is 23 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for sunny skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 17 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 7 mph with gusts up to 23mph. Today will have 9 hours and 3 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 13 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 7 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 9 at 6am; Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of -19 occurred back in 1951.

Today in 1974, Nelson Rockefeller is sworn in as Vice President of the United States under President Gerald Ford โš– under the provisions of the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution. He would be the nation’s second vice president who was unelected, following the Vice President becoming the President after Nixon resigned. Seems fitting to happen the day after the president just got impeached, ๐Ÿ™…although nobody expects him to actually get removed from office. Still, an impeachment is a rebuke of his administration.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 29. Calm wind. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Typical average high for the weekend is 34 degrees. The weekend forecast now looks pretty nice, but I am still incline to stay in town because I’m planning on heading out next week — and it would still be quite cold next weekend up north in the Adirondacks. But it will be at least warm enough to hook up that voltage relay and test it on Sunday, and make sure it’s working well before I get stranded somewhere in the wilderness.

Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until Static Electric Shock Day ๐Ÿงผ when the sun will be setting at 4:39 pm with dusk at 5:11 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 30 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 2008.

December 17, 2019 Night

Good evening! Snow flurries and 28 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ Calm wind. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ We ended up with a couple of inches of sloppy wet snow but not a big deal. ๏ธBut what isn’t plowed or salted will last with a big freeze coming. Things will start to thaw out at Sunday around 11 am. 🌡๏ธ

It was a very quiet day at work today, 💼and kind of a snowy commute in but the ride back home wasn’t bad but walking 🚶 down Columbia Street was a bit slick at times. But so be it. I got home, made dinner and then I hooked up the voltage switch I got from China and figured how it works. 🔌 I want to get it fully programmed and all the wires cut and ready to go before I am working outside actually connecting things up in the cold over the weekend.

I rode the excerise bike for a while 🚲 but then my neighbor came home so I stopped. I wish I could have gotten more time in on the bike and tomorrow is the Pine Bush Dinner. 🍲 I’ll walk down to the express bus 🚍 tomorrow and who knows Thursday. My neighbor usually is out Thursday night. Although John Wolcott wants me to come over, but I will see. 🔎It’s going to be super cold and I’m not crazy about walking down the Henry Johnson Viaduct when the windchill is below zero.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy 🌨, with a low of 22 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 14th. Maximum wind chill around 18 at 5am; Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 20 degrees. The record low of -9 occurred back in 1919.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter with 50% illuminated. The moon will set at 12:09 am. 🌛The sun will rise at 7:19 am with the first light at 6:47 am, which is 40 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 14 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, an increase of 19 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of snow showers, mainly after noon. Some of the squalls could lead to white out conditions. Partly sunny 🌦, with a high of 32 degrees at 12pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 27th. Light west wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Temperatures will drop through the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 1921. 17 inches of snow fell back in 1887.โ„

I am probably not going to head up north for the weekend. 🗻 It would be kind of fun to get up to the Adirondacks one more time before the end of the decade but I am pretty sure next weekend I’m going out to the Finger Lakes – its actually going to be quite mild to end out the year based on the latest predictions. I want to get that voltage switch โšก fully up and running and tested before I get stranded because I did something wrong. Also I think we might cut some additional video 📹 for the Rezsin Adams film on Saturday. That was off but it’s back on now.

In four weeks on January 14 the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm,🌄 which is 22 minutes and 14 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 28 and 8 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 30 and 14 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 1932.

Looking ahead, Coldest Week of the Year 🌬 is in 4 weeks, Martin Luther King Day 🖤 is in 5 weeks, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day 🥛 is in 8 weeks, Presidents Day 👴 is in 2 months, National Drink Wine Day 🍷 is in 9 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 is in 3 months, 7:30 PM Sunset 🌇 is in 16 weeks, Cinco de Mayo 🤠 is in 20 weeks and Pack Rat Day 🐀 is in 5 months.

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Two weeks to Boxing Day 🥊. Mostly sunny and 18 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. โ˜€ Definitely a bit crisp but sunny. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. There are a lot of bare patches on the ground now, I was able to cross the traffic island without deep snow for the first time since the snow storm. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 9 am. 🌡๏ธ

Taking the express downtown. 🚍 The hybrid bus slowly nicely on the red-lights 🚥 on the expressway. Lot of smoke rising from the Glenmont Power Plant. 🏭 Definitely cold but crisp.

The beautiful morning ain’t expected to last. Today will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a high of 29 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees below normal. Light and variable wind. I won’t notice from my windowless office 🏢 but it doesn’t matter as I have a busy day on tap. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 39 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1979. 6.6 inches of snow fell back in 1970.โ„

The sun will set at 4:22 pm with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 7 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 27 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 6 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 42 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 23 degrees at 7pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 11th. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1988.

Pennsylvania becomes the second state to ratify the United States Constitution, five days after Delaware became the first on this day in 1787.📃 I like the Keystone state a lot, real nice country and people. ๐Ÿ™‚ Kind of an expensive state but at least their really laid back about open burning 🔥.

Going to be a wet one this weekend. 💦 Saturday, rain. High near 44. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. The should do a number on the snow. Sunday, a chance of rain and snow showers before 8am, then a chance of rain showers between 8am and 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 36 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Static Electric Shock Day 🧼 when the sun will be setting at 4:40 pm with dusk at 5:11 pm. How shocking :o. White Rocks Overlook

December 3, 2019 Morning

Good morning! If God put it here, he’ll take it away. As will the big dump trucks in city. In other words, Happy Tuesday. Unless of course you have to dig out your car. Next Tuesday is 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ. Partly cloudy and 25 degrees at the Valero. โ›… There is a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. There are 20.5 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Or something like that. I know my landlords plow was struggling. ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 10 am. 🌡๏ธ

The snow stopped early enough โ„ that the Thruway is just wet and the suburban arterial are pretty clear too. Albany streets are narrow and a bit snow covered but they’re plowed. I’m sure once the snow emergency is underway they’ll become much more passable. I took an earlier local bus in today, it’s running close to schedule although we’re bogging down a bit in the city due to the narrow streets with the snow banks. I probably would have walked 🚶 to the express but the sidewalks were icy and who knew if they would be plowed all the way down to the park and ride. At any rate, I fully expect to be into work plenty early. That’s good, it’s going to be a busy one I expect.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 32 degrees at 1pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 27th. Northwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 2009. 5.2 inches of snow fell back in 1893.โ„

I shoveled off the truck today 🚘 and brushed off the solar panel again so that should keep the batteries topped off through Sunday. I’m hoping with the amount of snow I brushed off plus the sun โ˜€ and warmer temperatures this week I won’t have to clean the truck off this weekend. I find brushing off the truck during the snow storm and right after is much easier then then waiting for the weekend to clean stuff off.

The sun will set at 4:22 pm with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 16 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 32 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 14 mph with gusts up to 24mph. Today will have 9 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, an decrease of one minute and 19 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow after 3am. Increasing clouds 🌨, with a low of 23 degrees at 3am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 10th. Maximum wind chill around 20 at 6pm; West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mist by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -9 occurred back in 1940.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 6 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜€ Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 29. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 37. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees.

Being the last weekend of regular season and they’re being a ton of snow on the ground, โ›„ I’ll probably stay in town this weekend. Saturday might be a good weekend to go skiing 🎿 assuming that the snow isn’t too icy come the weekend.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is 7:15 AM Sunrise โŒ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny skies, mist and temperatures between 36 and 18 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1966.

Pine Creek

December 2, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Cyber Monday 🛍๏ธ! Next Monday is Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ. Light snow and 31 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ There is a north breeze at 11 mph. 🍃. There are 13 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธEverything is shutdown because it’s winter and they seem to do that a lot more these days. But what I do know I live in the city and the bus runs come sun, rain or snow. At any rate, the snow ain’t expected to last long. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. 🌡๏ธ Sun too out tomorrow โ˜€ which help with the melting process. I am going to glue the tips of my skis 🎿 as I expect snow to be around for the weekend.

I mean I’m not complaining that much about being stuck home 🏡, it beats trudging through the snow to the catch the bus which is most likely running behind schedule although it depends on route as the 8:25 has a pretty good layover before the start so it runs close to time. Today I’m going to work on some maps and do some reading 📖, finishing up the book I got on butchering 🔪and of course ride the exercise bike. 🚲 Sometimes being stuck home can be boring without a television 📺 or the interwebs. 💻 I bet the library is closed today as everything is closed today.

At some point I’ll dig out my truck 🚚, and get the ton of snow off the roof before anymore accumulates. โ„ This way with the warm temperatures and sun โ˜€ later in the week I’ll be able to have the truck clear of snow come Saturday. Landlord is digging out my door now so hopefully it should be easy to get out once later on to dig out my truck. Mostly want to clean off the truck cap roof and solar panel and maybe the hood – the rest will hopefully melt away this week. 💧After I do that I want to take apart and clean the propane lantern 🏮 in hopes of getting that working properly again. Last time used it was burning dirty and dim, this past weekend winter camping I couldn’t even get to start. 🙍

Today will continue to have periods of snow. โ›„ It’s stopped for now but it is expected to pick up later today. The snow could be heavy at times. 🀼/strong>󚀠High of 32 degrees at 9am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 27th. North wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 66 was set in 1998. 6.2 inches of snow fell back in 1949.โ„

The sun will set at 4:22 pm with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 18 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for snow 🌨 and temperatures around 31 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 16 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 22 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be periods of snow, mainly before 4am. The snow could be heavy at times. 🌨 Low of 22 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 13th. North wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of -1 occurred back in 1976.

Tomorrow I have to wear a suit and tie to work 👔which means I have to polish my shoes and iron my shirt and pants. I might wear the boots 👢 in though because I don’t know how clear the sidewalks will be by morning. It would be bad to arrive to the meeting tomorrow and be covered with road salt and with wet dress shoes. That said, it looks like the snow will be pulling out relatively early this evening so the crews should get a lot of it cleaned up by morning.

I ordered a replacement cellphone cradle for my truck on Aliexpress. 📱 The ones I saw at Walmart were like ten times as expensive – I get the convenience factor but I can’t imagine spending more than $10 on something that is a plastic device that you clip your phone to the vent in your truck. Also ordered that voltage sensative control module I linked to yesterday. 🔌 I will use that to feed power to the starting battery whenever I have excess power on the solar panel to ensure its automatically topped off when camping multiple days with the engine off.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 6 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. ๐Ÿ˜€ Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 29. That’s cold for early January but not unheard of for December. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 37. I’m going to fix my skis🎿so I can use them for the weekend. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees.

Warmer next week and we might have rain a week from now which would do a number on the snow โ˜” but it’s so far out it could be rain, snow or nothing. I’m rooting for 45 degrees but I know the snowmobilers ain’t as their season opens after big game closes on Sunday.

As previously noted, next Monday is Earliest Sunset of the Year โŒ›๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had snow and temperatures between 33 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 62 back in 1966.

Towards Vermont

November 21, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Next Thursday is Thanksgiving 🦃. Can you believe that already? Before you know it will be 2020. Partly sunny and 33 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride. Nice change after the cold and wet lately although there are definitely some patches of black ice around. Shouldn’t last though and it’s not going to get below freezing tonight. Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 8 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Had a bit of trouble getting going this and almost to late to walk down to the express bus 🚍 but I made it. Had to fiddle with the shower 🚿 a bit to keep it from dripping. At least my truck is home, the maintenance preformed and I’m good with state inspection through the end of November 2020.

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 44 degrees at 1pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 24th. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became mostly clear by afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1931. .8 inches of snow fell back in 1937.โ„

The sun will set at 4:28 pm with dusk around 4:59 pm, which is 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 40 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 56 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 38 degrees at 6pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 22nd. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Easy on the heating bills. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of 9 occurred back in 1969.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, sunny, with a high near 42. West wind around 7 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Sunday, rain likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Typical average high for the weekend is 45 degrees.

I am definitely leaning towards heading to the Adirondacks this weekend โ›บ as I’m not sure about the track for the potential Thanksgiving Day storm that could leave enough snow to make camping difficult. I hear it’s going to be a fairly cold and snow winter based on Hugh Johnson’s predictions 🔮 during the Pine Bush Dinner. He thinks that the cold blob predicted over the mid west is likely to move further east at least at times.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Repeal of Prohibition Day 🍺 when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had cloudy, mild, rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 39 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 40 degrees. We hit a record high of 65 back in 2001.
