Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Three weeks to 7:15 AM Sunrise ⌛️. I guess that time change was good for nothing, we’ve lost all the benefits to the earlier sunrise with impending winter. That said it’s wintery enough this morning although it’s already warmed up enough that the roads are mostly just wet at this point. More slushy earlier and the sidewalks were very sloppy walking down Wolf Road. 🐺

Snow showers, slop and 33 degrees at the Colonie Center. ❄ Calm wind. There is roughly an inch of sloppy, wet snow on the ground. Going to melt today but we have freeze up by morning tomorrow, so be careful tomorrow morning on untreated surfaces like sidewalks. ️Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 7 am. ☃️

Picked and absolutely marvelous day to my truck inspected and maintenance preformed. 🚙 My thought that it would be all just wet on the roads played out by 8 am but the first half of the trip was a bit slick and sloppy. Made it there safely but forgot how aggressive the antilock brakes feel on the driveway. The sidewalks were super yucky on Wolf but I expect they’ll be fine once I pick Big Red up after work.🔧

Bus is running a bit late 🚍 with the snow and random passengers asking the driver questions, but I’m hoping to make it in on time to clock in timely. 🕒 Otherwise I’ll have to stay late or use leave which I haven’t figured out yet how to record in the system. At least Denooyer is open until 8 pm but I don’t want to walk up Wolf Road too late. Cuts into my dinner time.

Today will rain and snow before noon, then a slight chance of rain between noon and 1pm. 🌧 High of 39 degrees at 2pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 4th. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible but it’s not expected to last. A year ago, we had mist in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 71 was set in 1921. 4.2 inches of snow fell back in 1914.❄

The sun will set at 4:29 pm with dusk around 5:00 pm, which is 47 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 37 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and one second over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 31 degrees at 1am. Typical for tonight. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 6 occurred back in 1986.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 6 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. 😀 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 40. Typical average high for the weekend is 45 degrees.

Going to be cold and winter like ⛄ but I’m still thinking it would be nice to get out of town and go to the Adirondacks to camp. ⛺ I’m the other hand, I wouldn’t mind staying home and pushing forward the new blog design which is coming along really nicely. ✒ Still some sections not designed and bugs 🐛 to address but I’m very happy with it. Sure I’d rather do a bigger trip over Thanksgiving Weekend but who knows about the weather.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 7:15 AM Sunrise ⌛️ when the sun will be setting at 4:21 pm with dusk at 4:53 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny, mist and temperatures between 36 and 18 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 38 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1966.

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Two weeks to December 🎄. Christmas is coming or as the Republicans want you to believe, you can only say Happy Holidays. My view is that around Christmas say Merry Christmas and the rest of the holiday season say Happy Holidays. Nothing wrong with being a proud Christian, a Jew, Muslim or somebody who just enjoys watching wrapping papers and Styrofoam packing blocks that the Christmas toys come in go up in smoke. 💨 Stinky black smoke for that Styrofoam for sure. Greta wouldn’t approve.

Its a very cold morning Mostly sunny and cold around 22 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. Things will start to thaw out at around noontime. 🌡️ After the freezing rain tomorrow morning it’s actually going to warm up. Or so I’m told. This is why I really need a well insulated place with a wood stove. Unlike the New Scotland Armory where the Green Energy Fair was held and heated with fracked gas in a building with windows missing.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 36 degrees at 2pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 14th. North wind around 6 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 44 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 1928. 2.8 inches of snow fell back in 1992.❄

Kind of another cold day 💨 but it’s November and that’s to be expected. I’m planning to run to the store and go over to the Pine Bush for a quick little Save the Pine Bush Hike at 1:30 at Willow Street trailhead then to a meeting at the library to discuss the proposed Crossgates housing complex in the Pine Bush. 🚶 Then out to the folks house for Sunday dinner.

The sun will set at 4:31 pm with dusk around 5:01 pm, which is 52 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a northeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 42 minutes of daytime, an decrease of 2 minutes and 6 seconds over yesterday.

The Green Energy Fair was good yesterday, 🌲🌳🌻 although I thought the attendance was a bit lighter than I expected and many of the booths weren’t that exciting but we gave out a lot of the Save the Pine Bush coloring books. They had a lot of Teslas in the electric car club section, and a Chevy Bolt. I toured the Bolt a few years back, and I do recommend Weber Auto tear down of the Chevy Bolt videos on the YouTube to learn how neat the technology really is. 🚘

Then I went for a hike along the rail trail into the Norman’s Kill George. 🚉 It was cold as duck, I’m not ready for winter but it happens. At least the trail is free of ice, and they’ve installed more guard rail and benches. 🚶Water levels are very low on the Norman’s Kill. 💦 I thought that was unusual on how wet it’s been lately.

Tonight will have a chance of freezing rain, mainly after 5am. Increasing clouds 🌧, with a low of 28 degrees at 8pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 27th. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of 10 occurred back in 1972.

I am continuing to research 📖 building a new theme for the blog, replacing the old code based on an unsupported theme with a lean one that loads faster. That said, getting the Masonry library and the Indefinite Scroll libraries to play along proven more difficult than originally anticipated although I probably want to keep figuring this out. There is just a lot of unused bloat in the theme my blog is based off it and I could disable many of the unused features if I wrote my own based on the stripped down theme.

Tuesday Big Red is getting his tires rotated, oil changed and state inspected. ⛽ I think the weather will be fine but I’ll have to drop it off early on Tuesday morning as my new work hours earlier the before. I think the inspection will go fine and with the oil changed I’ll be good until May or June when the weather is nice again as I drive few miles in the winter – although I’m thinking about a winter camping trip to the Finger Lakes like last year during black powder season.

But before then I’m thinking about heading to the East Branch in the Adirondacks ⛺ come next weekend or maybe Black Friday, assuming that I have the day off and the weather is decent. I could see a lot of the snow melting in the Adirondacks this week although it could be icy from the freezing rain tomorrow morning. Or will it be all snow up north? God knows. But a nice big ol fire 🔥 in the wilderness will be fun. Maybe do some hiking, skiing 🎿 and hunting 🔫 not spent enough time out in the field this year.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until December 🎄 when the sun will be setting at 4:23 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 45 and 31 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 41 degrees. We hit a record high of 67 back in 1934.

Good morning! Today is Veterans Day 🇺🇸! Three weeks to Cyber Monday 🛍️. Cloudy and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. We expect rain late today but watch out for tomorrow when temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 7 am. ☃️ Should make for an interesting commute 🚍 especially now that I have to be there earlier for work on. But maybe the bus will be close to on time, it often is at the park and ride early, but I might catch the local if it’s really wet and nasty. ❄ Snow though probably won’t be so bad walk. 🚶

Veterans Day will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 7am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy 🌧, with a high of 40 degrees at 1pm. 10 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 4th. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 2002. 3.0 inches of snow fell back in 1906.❄

I got a bunch to do today. 👍 First off I need to take out the trash to the outside can. It’s been three weeks. With recycling ♻ and composting I don’t need to do it often but sometimes the food bags in the trash start to get nasty. Eventually I’ll take it to the transfer station or something like that. 🔥 I just hate wasting garbage bags although I can always dump one into another. I also need to return those beer cans 🍻💰(I wish it’s easier than the transfer station). Need to clean the kitchen 🍙and maybe spray a few places in the bathroom 🚽 for mildew. With the warmer temperatures it’s very nice and comfortable in my bedroom, I actually turned the heat back down yesterday.

Definitely not all that great for outside activities but that’s fine. I am going to ride the exercise bike 🚲 for a while and work on some maps later on. 🌐 I didn’t go to the store yesterday 🏬 so I need to do that some point today. I might head down to the library later. 📚 Depends on how I feel. With my phone 📱 I find I don’t really have as much desire to use the internet at the library.

At least I’m feeling a lot better. Not perfect, still a bit congested at time 😷 and a little sore but better than in a while. I’m starting to think that I may have Lyme disease with the headaches and aches but I’m going to wait until I am fully recovered from my cold. 🎯 Mom certainly thinks it’s worthwhile for me to get tested for Lyme, with my symptoms of headaches, sore neck and stiffness at times but it’s been so long since I last been to my doctor. I should do regular yearly check ups. They’re free and I’d hate to die 🎲 somewhere in the wilderness with a heart attack. ♥

The sun will set at 4:37 pm with dusk around 5:07 pm, which is one minute and 3 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 37 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 53 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 16 seconds over today.

Tonight will have a chance of rain and sleet before 2am, then rain likely between 2am and 3am, then rain and sleet after 3am. 🌧 Low of 33 degrees at 6am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 13th. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 29 degrees. The record low of 15 occurred back in 1976.

All I can say is that it’s going to be nasty tomorrow. ⛄ But I’m sure the bus will get me to work 🚍 and all I have to do is be at the stop a few minutes early. 🚏I do hate a lot of things about living in the city but public transportation isn’t one of them.

Cool this weekend with temperatures running 12 degrees below normal but otherwise sunny. 😀 Saturday, sunny, with a high near 33. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 48 degrees.

The following weekend might be quite warm from the long range. ☀ But God only knows. This weekend is the Green Energy Fair 🌲⚡ so I’ll be in town. Sunday might be nice for skiing 🎿 in an area without hunting if they’re still is snow. ⛄

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Cyber Monday 🛍️ when the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm with dusk at 4:54 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 41 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 41 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 1998.

November 6, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. Not a terrible evening for early November. Much colder weather next week starting tomorrow. ❄ Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 10 pm. ☃️

I’m not sure if we will get much snow in Albany ⛄ but it will be a cold and wet evening tomorrow. It’s fine, I have no real plans for tomorrow. Once I get home it can rain all it wants. I went to the library 📚 tonight and downloaded some more YouTube videos 📹 to watch on the exercise bike 🚲 and got some milk. 🐮 Road the exercise bike for a while.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 33 degrees at 10pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 9th. South wind around 6 mph. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1962.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 82% illuminated. The moon will set at 1:26 am. The Beaver Full Moon 🌕 is on Monday night. The sun will rise at 6:35 am with the first light at 6:05 am, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 13 hours and 53 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 27 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain, mainly after noon. 🌧 High of 44 degrees at 12pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 24th. South wind 6 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1938. 4.5 inches of snow fell back in 1886.❄

When I was at the library I had sat down at one of the desks 📙 and some random dude kicks me out because he claimed he had a reserved the desk with a book. What an ass. It would have been one thing if someone left a jacket 👕 or their computer 💻 there but holding a desk with a random library book seems silly. 😋 I was pissed say the least.

My Bluetooth headphones aren’t working right with the right channel cutting in an out. 🎧 They’ve gotten so cheap that the quality has gone down. They’re only $10 but that doesn’t make any less annoying until I can replace them. Maybe next time I’ll buy two and keep one ready in case one fails. Not only do I like them on the bus, they’re great for listening to music 🎶 and videos on the exercise bike 🚲. I’ll buy them when I go shopping for groceries on Friday for camping. ⛺

Tomorrow I’m going to turn the heat on before work, 👹so things don’t get too cold with temperatures supposed to drop by evening. Probably leave the heat at 50, things can warm up quickly from there especially if I turn the upstairs electric heat on but I can’t imagine it will be that cold by the time I get home. Going to be real cold for November next week. So much for a mild winter. ❄ I was hoping to have a low utility bill until next month but that seems increasingly unlikely. Salt season starts tomorrow.

I will watch the weather ❄ and figure out where I will go this weekend. ⛺ I still strongly prefer Madison County but not if there is a ton of snow. I could stay home 🏡 but I would really like to get out of town. Otherwise the next time I will likely have a chance to get out of town is Black Friday – and who knows how much snow we will have at that point. Although who knows it could warm up by then and the snow disappears.

In four weeks on December 4 the sun will be setting at 4:22 pm,🌄 which is 20 minutes and 12 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had mist showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 39 and 21 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 40 and 26 degrees. The record high of 63 degrees was set back in 1998.

Looking ahead, Average Night Below Freezing 🌌 is in 1 week, Average High is 40 🌨 is in 4 weeks, Saint Nicholas Day 🎅 is a month away, Christmas 🎅 is in 7 weeks, New Years Day 2019 🎇 is in 8 weeks, National Bird Day 🐦 is in 10 weeks, 37th Birthday 🎉 is in 12 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 👴🏻 is in 63 weeks.

November 6, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Day After Election Day 🛀! So it came and went. Folks voted and we were now have to live with the consequences. Some will be happy, others sad, and it’s going to snow on Thursday. ❄ Next Wednesday starts with the Average Night Below Freezing 🌌. Mostly sunny and 39 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. There is a west breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 11 pm. ☃️ Pleasant walk down to the Park and Ride – I almost always take express in as I like the walk and I have to get there earlier.

Pleasant morning after a rather quiet Election Day 🐴🐖🐘 which I spent home working on electronics projects and riding the exercise bike 🚲. Sometimes a quiet day is nice for a change, and I’m just not super interested in being politically involved these days.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 47 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 17th. West wind 5 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 2015. 3.2 inches of snow fell back in 1933.❄

The sun will set at 4:42 pm with dusk around 5:12 pm, which is one minute and 11 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 Once again, I remembered to turn the porch light on it and will be on once it gets dark. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 5 mph. Not terrible for the day after Election Day. Today will have 10 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 26 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 33 degrees at 10pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 9th. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph after midnight. In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 41 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1962.

The big story is the couple of inches of wet snow ❄ that are expected to happen Thursday night 🌃 once things cool down and drop before freezing. Not a big amount of snow in Albany – maybe an inch – but the sanders certainly will be out and they’re predicting more snow in points north and west.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. 😕 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees.

This weekend I will probably head up to the Adirondacks and camp up there ⛺ but I’ll keep an eye on the snowfall estimates and decide from there. I fully expect winter conditions and snow camping, I will probably bring my skis 🎿 just in case. I still want to get out to Madison County before the end of the year but only if the roads aren’t too icy out that way.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Average Night Below Freezing 🌌 when the sun will be setting at 4:35 pm with dusk at 5:05 pm. On that day in 2018, we had rain and temperatures between 44 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 49 degrees. We hit a record high of 69 back in 1964.

October 30, 2019 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 59 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. The dew point is 54 degrees. Rare to have such mild weather in late October, most of my windows are open in bedroom and I’m listening to the crickets. 🐸 In late October. Friday is November. Cold this weekend though. ❄

I went over to John Wolcott house for a while and continued going through his files 📂 but I quit early as I was feeling congested and tired 😴 after a long day at work. I don’t think I am getting sick again as I never really recovered the first time but I think both of us were ready to stop.

Returned my library books 📚 after I go home for my evening walk 🚶. Now I won’t have to worry about that with the rain. Plus… That’s still a mile plus round trip, earlier in the day I walked to Mr. Wolcott’s house 🏡 and also to the express bus in the morning. With more rain ☔ expected tomorrow I doubt I’ll do lots of walking but I could always ride the exercise bike 🚲.

Tonight will have patchy drizzle before 2am, then showers likely after 2am. Cloudy 🌧, with a low of 58 degrees at 11pm. 23 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around August 30th. A summer night in nearly November. Maximum dew point of 57 at 6am. At least not sticky. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2018, we had clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1988.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒 with 19% illuminated. The moon will rise at 11:17 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Sunday night. The Beaver Moon 🌝 is on Monday, November 11th. The sun will rise at 7:26 am with the first light at 6:57 am, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 13 hours and 36 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 36 seconds over last night.

Halloween 🎃 will have showers likely before 11am, then patchy drizzle with a chance of showers between 11am and noon, then rain likely after noon. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 69 degrees at 2pm. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around September 24th. Maximum dew point of 63 at 5pm. South wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 73 was set in 1946. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1913.❄

Going to be a wet and wild one by evening tomorrow. 🍃 After work I’ll probably come straight home, have dinner, work on some electronics projects 🔬 and ride the exercise bike 🚲. I haven’t done any soldering projects in a while and it’s fun to build stuff. The morning might be decent enough to walk to the express bus 🚍 so I’ll get in a few steps that way plus have a good easy trip into work.

Returning the books to the library 📚 made me sad to think my road trip is now four weeks in the rear view mirror as they were due back Friday, and I took the books out the evening before I left for my trip. That said, I have some fun trips planned for November.

I tell you with the lower fines and penalties 🚬 pot smoking is becoming a lot more common in the cities. In Troy I saw people smoking it at the bus stop, smelled it many times canvassing. And it stunk tonight on Lark Street in Albany. People used to do it a lot but people are much more open about it than ever before now that it’s no longer a crime to smoke in public and its only a $50 ticket 🎫. The confiscated value of the pot exceeds the civil fine, most of which will never be paid.

Let’s be honest, pot smells kind of smells nasty. I know, as somebody who burns all kinds of things including things I probably shouldn’t, who also likes agriculture (manure) and the outdoors (dead animals) , I really shouldn’t talk. I always thought the restrictions on marijuana were kind of silly 😋 and we were locking people up for silly reasons but odor and smoked cannabis is a serious concern. It might be fun but it’s not worth the high price for me.

In four weeks on November 27 the sun will be setting at 4:24 pm (Standard Time),🌄 which is one hour, 26 minutes and 41 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 43 and 23 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 43 and 28 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 1896.

Looking ahead, Day After Election Day 🛀 is in 1 weeks, Average Night Below Freezing 🌌 is in 2 weeks, Small Business Saturday 🛍️ is a month away, Average High is 40 🌨 is in 5 weeks, Christmas 🎅 is in 8 weeks, New Years Day 2019 🎇 is in 9 weeks, National Bird Day 🐦 is in 11 weeks, 37th Birthday 🎉 is in 13 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 👴🏻 is in 64 weeks.

October 29, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Next Tuesday is Election Day 2019 🗳️. I am glad that I took care of the voting thing last night. Monday night around 7 seems like a nice quiet time to Early Vote ❎. Wearing the sticker today.

Definitely a mild but gray morning. Cloudy and 51 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. ☔ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 49 degrees.

Today will have patchy drizzle before 11am. Not seeing much on the radar though but who y’all knows. It don’t think it will be all the wet, but I work in a windowless office, so once I’m there, I won’t have any idea. Mostly cloudy 🌥, with a high of 59 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 19th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 5pm. South wind 7 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 52 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1946. 3.8 inches of snow fell back in 2011.❄

Still some decent color 🍂 in the Norman’s Kill Gorge. If I end up staying in town this weekend maybe I can hike there. I don’t know for sure yet. But generally it’s obvious that November is right around the corner. Things are quite faded even in the city. But this time of year always comes. By weekend and into next week, the nights might be finally be cold enough to warrant turning the heat back on at home.

The sun will set at 5:52 pm with dusk around 6:21 pm, which is one minute and 23 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 58 degrees. The dew point will be 51 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 27 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 51 degrees at 4am. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around September 18th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 6pm. South wind 3 to 7 mph. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1969.

I’ve been reading a lot about Missouri lately. It sounds like a fun state with fun people, especially when you get back in the hills.🚜 Cheap living, few zoning codes or regulations, open burning with relative reason is allowed (e.g. extreme fire risk), lots of places to hunt, fish, and ride four-wheelers. Seems like a great place to hobby farm too and enjoy the outdoors. I know it seems like a lot of the Carhartt stuff I buy and trapping gear seems to come from Missouri too. President Truman seemed great too. Maybe that’s my future eventually, not the Presidency but the backwoods of Missouri. Less snow and cold then West Virginia, and easier driving.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees. I think once I get the new bulb installed in the truck, then I will head up to Adirondacks — I think. Or maybe somewhere else. I am still chewing over my options.🏕 It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to have a nice fire in the wilderness, but i will need to buy some more propane and bring the heater as the nights might be pretty cold.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is Election Day 2019 🗳️ when the sun will be setting at 4:43 pm with dusk at 5:13 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2018, we had rain showers, partly sunny skies and temperatures between 48 and 31 degrees. I was going to say it was a fair bit warmer in North Syracuse, but that’s not true, as that was 2016 I was thinking of. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1994.
