October 30, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 30 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 10 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Busy day ๐Ÿ’ปand while I worked from home it still seemed like the time past quickly. ๐Ÿ•’ I thought I’d be very cranky with the lack of sleep I got last night ๐Ÿ˜ต but things turned out fine. I was glad to at least get outside for my evening walk. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป I sure hope midwinter I won’t be penned up for remote work – I like working downtown where I can go for a walk during lunch time.

Cold night tonight, going to feel more like Christmas Time ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿฟ๐ŸŽ„ then late October. Than again, tomorrow is Halloween ๐ŸŽƒ and November the next day. Colder weather ain’t uncommon today.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 20 degrees at 5am. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 18th. Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1988.

I decided it’s cold enough tonight โ„ to warrant turning on the heat โ™จ a bit before bed. Very damp outside, it would have been very cold in Brookfield and probably a lot of snow. ๐Ÿ˜จ I’m sure after walking ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป tonight I made the right decision to stay home. ๐ŸŽƒ That said halloween camping under the full moon would have been fun. ๐Ÿ‘ป

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 99% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the east-southeast (113ยฐ) at an altitude of 34ยฐ from the horizon, some 252,272 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by May 10th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Blue ๐ŸŒ Moon is on Saturday, October 31. The darkest hour is at 12:40 am, followed by dawn at 6:59 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:28 am in the east-southeast (108ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 3 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 8:08 am with sun in the east-southeast (115ยฐ). Tonight will have 13 hours and 38 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 36 seconds over last night.

The moonlight is nice tonight ๐ŸŒ• now that the clouds are parting with Halloween ๐Ÿฆ‡ Blue Moon. Anytime Halloween has a full moon by definition it’s a blue moon. But it was kind of damp while I was out my evening walk. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป I guess next to a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ it wouldn’t be that bad but next weekend looks sunnier โ˜€ and warmer even if with the time change ๐Ÿ•’ the sun sets early. More time for cooking and hanging out by the fire. With the music ๐ŸŽถ and lights I’ve never had an issue with a bear ๐Ÿป at camp.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 42 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 29th. Light and variable wind. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 2019. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1913.โ„

In four weeks on November 27 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (241ยฐ) at 4:24 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 26 minutes and one second earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 57 and 31 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 43 and 28 degrees. The record high of 66 degrees was set back in 1896.

Looking ahead, Average Night Below Freezing ๐ŸŒŒ is in 2 weeks, Buy Nothing Day ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 4 weeks, Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ• is a month away, Average High is 40 ๐ŸŒจ is in 5 weeks, Bake Cookies Day ๐Ÿช is in 7 weeks, Christmas ๐ŸŽ… is in 8 weeks, Bacon Day ๐Ÿฅ“ is in 2 months, New Years Day 2021 ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 9 weeks, Bubble Bath Day ๐Ÿงผ is in 10 weeks and 38th Birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 13 weeks.

Gorge Below Upper Falls

October 30, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Two weeks to Average Night Below Freezing ๐ŸŒŒ. Wet globby snow showers and 36 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ There is a north breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 6 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

First morning of the year – well the season waking up to snow. โ„ Landlord didn’t need to plow the driveway or anything like that but it’s still a bit of a winter wonderland outside. Roads are just wet, I don’t think they applied salt locally. More slop than anything else.

I decided with the rain and drizzle and cold weather ๐ŸŒง to stay in town this weekend. I think it’s going to stay in town this weekend – everything in the woods is going to be wet and muddy and I don’t want to get my truck covered in salt and mud. โ„ Next weekend looks much nicer and I can probably get out in the woods without my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ ringing every two minutes for work.

This morning it sure was hard to get out of bed, ๐Ÿ› I did not sleep well. It also was a cold and damp morning and it doesn’t help that I don’t have the heat on yet. โ™จ But then again, I plan to work from home ๐Ÿก so I didn’t need to get a really early start. Next week I’ll be working downtown ๐Ÿข but at least with the time change I won’t have to get such an early start.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow before noon, then a chance of rain. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 40 degrees at 2pm. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 4th. North wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 80 was set in 1946. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1925.โ„

Definitely a dreary start to the morning. โ›„ But the snow is kind of pretty if you can say that about snow. I’m kind of tired though of the cold and the rust belt which really lasts more than half the year. It’s just so cold and dark in these northerly climates. And working from home feels so cooped up. At least downtown it’s a change.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:40 pm with sun having an altitude of 33.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-37.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Shadows are growing long. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:12 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (245ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (252ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:52 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 3 seconds with dusk around 6:19 pm, which is one minute and 21 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east (85ยฐ) at an altitude of 6ยฐ from the horizon, 252,270 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:54 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 22 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 36 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 19 degrees at 5am. 16 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 21st. Light north wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 60 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1988.

I don’t mind winter camping in the cold weather โ„ but this is obnoxiously cold for winter. I might actually need to turn on the heat before bed if it’s going to be that cold. Probably in Brookfield it will only be in the single digits.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 46 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 20th. Calm wind. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 2019. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1913.โ„

Tomorrow sounds pretty nice but I expect to be pretty busy with work ๐Ÿธ but I might find time to get to Five Rivers in the afternoon. Extra hour of sleep tomorrow night with the time change ๐Ÿ•’ which is good because I’m kind of feeling shitty today ๐Ÿ•’ as I didn’t sleep well last night. I have a lot of trouble sleeping in the winter months. I try to aggressively limit my blue light exposure but there is only so much I can do. I shouldn’t be listening ๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿป to the BBC at night, it’s really depressing with all the politics.

Looking ahead to Sunday, a chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, โ˜€ with a high near 52. South wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 54 degrees.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average Night Below Freezing ๐ŸŒŒ when the sun will be setting at 4:34 pm with dusk at 5:04 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had cold weather, mostly sunny and temperatures between 26 and 14 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 49 degrees. We hit a record high of 69 back in 1964.

October 29, 2020 Night

Good evening! Heavy rain and 41 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a north breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 7 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Kind of a dreary day. โ˜” I worked from home all day and it poured for most of the afternoon into the evening but I guess it’s helping with the rain deficit. Being so wet and with increased threat of snow and ice I’m calling off my weekend plans – even though with work they never were realistic. I would have spent half my weekend shivering in a tent next to the heater and laptop.

Tonight will rain before 3am, then rain and snow. ๐ŸŒง Low of 33 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 13th. North wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 57 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1969.

With the rain this evening, no walk. ๐Ÿšถ๐ŸปI ended up reading some articles about various things on my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ and scrolling through various Wikipedia articles. Kind of a dull but busy day. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Rain is really pouring on the roof today but it will be snow by morning. Maybe a lot in the mountains?

Tonight will have a Full ๐ŸŒ Moon with 97% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the southeast (126ยฐ) at an altitude of 37ยฐ from the horizon, some 251,961 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by May 8th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Blue ๐ŸŒ Moon is on Saturday, October 31. The darkest hour is at 12:40 am, followed by dawn at 6:58 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:27 am in the east-southeast (108ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 3 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 14 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 8:07 am with sun in the east-southeast (115ยฐ). Tonight will have 13 hours and 35 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain and snow before 1pm, then a slight chance of rain between 1pm and 2pm. ๐ŸŒง High of 39 degrees at 3pm. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 6th. North wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 80 was set in 1946. 0.1 inches of snow fell back in 1925.โ„

I thought originally it would clear out early tomorrow but hearing all that rain pound down โ˜” I’m pulling the plug on the weekend for staying closer to home ๐Ÿก and working from home and then going out to the folks house on Sunday. ๐Ÿฒ

I am leaning towards voting in person on Tuesday now. ๐Ÿ—ณ I thought about mailing ๐Ÿ“ฌ my ballot back on Monday just to stick my tongue ๐Ÿ˜ out at the system but it silly and it turns out that my polling place has moved across from the bus stop. ๐ŸšI’ll just vote on my way to work or if there is a line drop off my absentee ballot.

In four weeks on November 26 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (242ยฐ) at 4:24 pm (Standard Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 26 minutes and 54 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 58 and 34 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 44 and 29 degrees. The record high of 67 degrees was set back in 1979.

Whiteface

October 28, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 55 ๐Ÿ‚! Much colder than that the next few days. We are looking at a few inches of snow ๐ŸŒจ, the wet sloppy kind the next few days. Next Wednesday is the Day After Election Day ๐ŸšฟIf you haven’t voted by then you’ll have to the start of the Early Vote period in mid June 2021. I wonder if we will be wearing masks when we vote then. ๐Ÿ˜ท At least the lines shouldn’t be so long for the local Early Vote. โŽ Rain and 41 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜”Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Friday around 6 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ We might get some snow come Friday morning, but I think it will be more of a nuisance snow, more glob then anything else.

I decided to catch the bus ๐Ÿš downtown and work in the office ๐Ÿข today. It didn’t seem like a really good day to be working down at the library parking lot ๐Ÿ“š and my apartment is cold and damp as I’ve not turned on the heat. Plus I expect with the clouds and dark skies, the under voltage relay would tripping โšก on the load of the laptop. Plus I’m thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ it best to get in the habit of going to work because I expect soon I’ll be working downtown full time again.

Today will have showers likely, mainly before 9am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 52 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 5th. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1971. 2.0 inches of snow fell back in 1952.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:40 pm with sun having an altitude of 34.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-36.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). No sun today. A six foot person will cast a 8.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:15 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (246ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (253ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:54 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 2 seconds with dusk around 6:22 pm, which is one minute and 23 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see a nearly Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east-southeast (106ยฐ) at an altitude of 14ยฐ from the horizon, 250,852 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:57 pm. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 36 seconds over today.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒƒ , with a low of 39 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 18th. Southwest wind around 5 mph. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1969.

In 1956, Elvis Presley receives a polio vaccination on national TV. ๐Ÿ’‰This single event is credited with raising immunization levels in the United States from 0.6% to over 80% in just six months. The polio virus was scary but science helped combat it. ๐Ÿค“ There is still some hope for mankind. Hopefully the national nightmare will be over in six months as the orange man packs ๐Ÿ“ฆ up his bags.

Sunny and cold this weekend. ๐ŸŒž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 45. Sunday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 54 degrees. I am still chewing over my weekend plans – but a lot depends on how much snow they get in Brookfield this week and how early the storm pulls out. It does lookย  nice, but who knows, and I’ll probably be quite busy with work.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Day After Election Day ๐Ÿ›€ when the sun will be setting at 4:44 pm with dusk at 5:13 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 51 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 53 degrees. We hit a record high of 76 back in 1994.

Reflections

October 27, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Final Tuesday in October. ๐ŸŽƒ Next Tuesday is Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ. Easy to forget if you don’t own one of those colored televisions. ๐Ÿ“บ I probably should return my absentee ballot ๐Ÿ—ณ soon. Certainly post mark it by next Tuesday.

Mostly because I want a check โ˜‘ box next to two ought two ought on my buff card ๐Ÿ’ณ. Not like there are competive elections locally. I am still hoping to drop it off at the Early Vote site to save the 55 cents, if the crowds taper off. While there may be a separate drop off box ๐Ÿ—ƒ, I don’t want to be in crowds during a pandemic. ๐Ÿ‘พI figure my government file ๐Ÿ“‚ is big enough, might as well have some good things in it. I’m not hopeful at dropping the ballot off today, the line is over 500 feet before 9 o’clock.

Mostly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a northwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Friday around 9 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Out for my morning walk. ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป Rain has stopped and it’s a pretty nice day. Colors in the mountains are faded. โ›ฐ After my walk I’m going to take a quick shower ๐Ÿšฟ and then head downtown ๐Ÿš for the Tuesday meetings ๐Ÿ‘ฅ and work sessions. Honestly it’s nice to have a real desk ๐Ÿ–ฅ to work at especially with it being so cold and damp to work down at the library parking lot. ๐Ÿ…ฟ.

Today will have a slight chance of showers after 3pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 52 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 5th. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 54 degrees. Governor Ronald Reagan in 1964 delivers a speech on behalf of the Republican candidate for president, Barry Goldwater. The speech launches his political career and comes to be known as “A Time for Choosing”. ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ผ Honestly much of the kookiness that was Goldwater grafted on to Billy Fuscillo became Trump. Biden is a throw back to an earlier era but I expect he’s competent and probably will be a power broker with all his experience in the Senate. I do hope Trump loses even though I don’t like Biden being unchecked.

Going to be cold but fairly sunny this weekend. โ„ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 46. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 54 degrees.

I am thinking about going out to Brookfield this weekend to hunt ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿฟ๏ธand camp โ›บ but it depends on how much snow we get ๐ŸŒจ as I am not ready to deal with icy and salt covered roads yet. Might be fun but cold though camping out on Halloween ๐Ÿฆ‡ ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ‘ป under a blue moon. ๐ŸŒ• Maybe get candy ๐Ÿฌ so I can give out to the kids that don’t stop by in the wilderness. But candy is good to eat ๐Ÿ˜‹ and watch the wrappers burn up in fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm with dusk at 5:14 pm (Standard Time). October 26, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Despite the dark morning, I’m up and going. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ I think it’s a pay week, so good motivation to get going. ๐Ÿ’ต Plus next week we get to sleep ๐Ÿ˜ด in one more hour with the time change. ๐Ÿ•’ Five weeks to Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and Beaver Moon ๐ŸŒ•. Rain showers and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ There is a southeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Friday around 8 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Kind of a chilly, wet morning but I woke up early and got some coffee โ˜• going. A very dark for one more Monday until we set the clock back for extra daylight in the morning but very dark evenings ๐ŸŒƒ ahead. Happens every year. That’s called changing the way time, something all the cranks hate but I don’t like going to work in the dark. ๐Ÿฎ I had to walk to the store this morning to get milk ๐Ÿฅ› for the coffee. One benefit to living in the land of the suburbanite.

It’s a rainy morning โ˜” with the drizzle but I’m out for my morning walk๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธbecause I didn’t get out last night. One advantage to walking in the rain, no joggers ๐Ÿงœโ€โ™€๏ธto run you over.

Soon I expect to be working downtown every day, so on days I don’t have to wear my suit ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ผ, I hope to be taking the express bus ๐ŸšŒ downtown. The walk to the park and ride ๐Ÿšhelps to clear my mind. Plus, it’s a one stop trip from the Park and Ride to the Emperors Plaza. ๐Ÿš„ On a nice day, the views of the mountains and Plaza are nice.

Today will have showers likely before 11am, then a chance of sprinkles between 11am and 4pm, then a chance of showers or sprinkles after 4pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 49 degrees at 2pm. Tonight will have showers likely, mainly before 9pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 42 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 9th. A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 48. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Typical average high for the weekend is 54 degrees.

I am looking at the weekend forecast ๐Ÿ”ญ ๐ŸŒž but the real question ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ is when will the rain and snow ๐ŸŒจ depart on Friday and how truly cold โ„ will it be for camping if I go out to Brookfield and do some small game hunting ๐Ÿฟ ๐Ÿ”ซ and enjoying the woods. ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be Thanksgiving ๐Ÿฆƒ when the sun will be setting at 4:24 pm with dusk at 4:56 pm (Standard Time).

October 25, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. โ›ช Next Sunday is November ๐Ÿฅง and the start of Standard Time ๐Ÿ•’. Mostly sunny and 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒ… There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ

Cold but sunny morning ๐ŸŒ„ at least after the sun rose over the horizon. A week from now with the time change time it will be only 7:30. That will make mornings a lot easier to get started especially as next month it looks like I’ll be catching the bus ๐Ÿš downtown and going back to work ๐Ÿข. The work at home thing was kind of fun but with winter coming working out at the library parking lot ๐Ÿ“š isn’t going to be much fun in the cold.

That said I’m looking at also possibly getting a cellular wireless card for my laptop. ๐Ÿ–ฅ If I’m just using it for work, it’s unlikely I’ll need more than 5-10 gb of data for work and the occasional Zoom Meetings can be fine from the library. Data is a lot more affordable than in the past but I don’t want to have to pay for a regular internet connection at home or the fracked gas energy โšก to power a router 24-7. That said, I’m still hoping soon the library fully reopens and I’ll be back work downtown ๐Ÿข and it will be a moot point. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ“ถ

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 50 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 10th. North wind around 7 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 58 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1963. There was a dusting of snow in 2005.โ„

I haven’t decided what my plans are yet for today but it would be be a nice day to spend in the woods. ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿค” I’ll end up going somewhere there are definitely options on this sunny day. ๐ŸŒžThen I’m going to my parents house for Sunday dinner.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:40 pm with sun having an altitude of 35.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-35.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:19 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (247ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (254ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:59 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 1 seconds with dusk around 6:26 pm, which is one minute and 27 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the southeast (142ยฐ) at an altitude of 23ยฐ from the horizon, 244,523 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:00 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 49 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 41 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after 1am. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 36 degrees at 4am. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 27th. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 44 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1952.

Yesterday I finally got the mantles for the lantern ๐Ÿฎ and disassembled it for cleaning. I need more carburetor cleaning spray now as the old rusty can leaked a few weeks making my kitchen stink for a few days. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป But rinsing it out and spraying it with WD 40 it should be good to go with the nights getting long at camp. Electric light is fine but I like the backup of propane lighting in case the battery voltage drops or a plug ๐Ÿ”Œ gets unplugged.

In 1962, in the Cuban Missile Crisis, ๐Ÿš€ Adlai Stevenson shows photos at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council proving that Soviet missiles are installed in Cuba. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡บ Fortunately cooler heads prevailed ๐Ÿคฏ and there was no nuclear war. ๐Ÿ’ฃโš› That said, Adlai Stevenson didn’t have much hair ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป on his head so he was always cool headed.

As previously noted, next Sunday is November ๐Ÿฅง when the sun will be setting at 4:47 pm with dusk at 5:17 pm (Standard Time). Yes, we set the clocks ๐Ÿ•’ back next weekend. On that day in 2019, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 70 and 42 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 54 degrees. We hit a record high of 78 back in 1950.

Next month I’ll have to get my truck inspected. ๐Ÿ”Ž ๐Ÿš˜ I should be good for that but I should check โ˜‘ the taillights and other equipment. I will probably do it early in the month to get it done.
