Cold science for a hot afternoon!
Currently it is 90 degrees in Albany, however it feels like 96 degrees. The dew point is a sticky 72F.
NYISO reports the state is using 29.1 MW of electricity. Not record breaking, but it will creep up as we head towards 5 PM.

A Hot Tuesday. Or so the weatherman feels it necessary to remind us. Letβs see if I actually post this post prior to the afternoon, when it actually is kind of hot, assuming the thunderstorms donβt cool things down. I am sure back in the apartment, by the time I get out of the Air Conditioned office and bus, it will be quite hot, as I still refuse to do the whole air conditioning thing at home, to save energy.
I wonβt mention how I like to beat the heat in the summer, by taking my Big Red pickup truck to Powley Place for the weekend with the air conditioning blasting at around 64 degrees inside, then spending the afternoon drinking beer and up to my neck in the Potholers. Saves lots of energy!
Today would be an excellent day for that plan. Ah, summertime.

Looking to start taking some long weekends coming the weekend of July 18-19, and maybe a weekβs vacation. I am a little short of vacation time this year, so I am not sure if I will get a full week off, but I think I might prefer more shorter long-weekend instead.
Got to talk to my boss about leaving early on Thursday. Ideally, Iβd like to leave at 12:30 PM, and catch the mid-day express bus back to the Park and Ride. Otherwise, I have to think about leaving later. Not sure if I want to set up the tent in the dark without electric lights, especially if there is a chance of severe thunderstorms.
