Good evening! Clear and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌃There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 42 degrees. Almost a bit chilly out back I might say. I shouldn’t complain because by the weekend it will be a real summer scorcher. Cool enough tonight that there are few fireflies around although I did see some bats flying around.
Tonight will be clear 🌉 , with a low of 49 degrees at 6am. 10 degrees below normal. Really kind of cool for late July. While I won’t I’m sure many people will close their windows tonight. I’ll probably sleep under the covers. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies, clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1979.
Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 96% illuminated. The moon will set at 4:19 am. June’s Strawberry Moon 🌕 is on Wednesday night with showers is likely. The sun will rise at 5:19 am with the first light at 4:44 am, which is 21 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 8 hours and 42 minutes of darkness, an increase of 21 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞 , with a high of 78 degrees at 3pm. One degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 49 at 6pm. Light and variable wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 74 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1952.
It looks like tomorrow will continue to be pretty nice before it rains on Wednesday and Thursday and gets hot Friday for the foreseeable future. 💦 I can tell you I’m very happy about us potentially getting multiple inches of rain on Wednesday into Thursday as we need it with a long heat wave happening thereafter. I am thinking about taking Friday and maybe now Monday off from work but I don’t think I will leave until early Friday just because I don’t want the coolers to melt too much in the heat or deal with traffic leaving the city.
This weekends story remains a forecast of being ungodly hot. 😎 Saturday, mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 92. Maximum dew point of 70 at 7pm. Sunday, mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 95. Maximum dew point of 73 at 6pm. Wow! If that ain’t potholers weather than what is? Typical average high for the weekend is 81 degrees.
I am thinking now about taking off both Friday through Monday from work for a long weekend at the potholers. 🏊I already was thinking about taking one of those days off, probably Friday to avoid the holiday rush and get a good campsite but I really don’t want to drive back to Albany on a Sunday with temperatures reaching 100 degrees and extremely oppressive humidity. I’d rather spend all day at camp or at the potholers cooling down and come back on Monday afternoon when it’s expected to be at least somewhat cooler. The Adirondacks are bound to be much nicer than my unit air conditioned apartment. I don’t know if I can get Monday off but I can ask. I have the time but it’s a matter of finding coverage for my clients. βΊI’m also a bit hesitant to be off the grid and not have cell service for that long although mid weekend with the heat I’m going to have to go to Stratford or Dolgeville to get ICE for the coolers. And maybe an ice cream or iced coffee. I’ve really not been camping all that many times this year, I deserve a break. Not sure if I will bother with the kayak or it will be too hot for that. I’d rather not block my solar panel as I’m going to need it’s output to run the fan at camp. With the bright sun it might be unpleasant to even be out on the water paddling. Might do better with a cold drink in the shade at camp. I wouldn’t mind a lazy extended weekend but with good books not the crap I have from the library.
I’ve decided with the switch upgrade to allow the panel to charge the starting battery I need an led to indicate that the batteries are connected. Currently I have a lighted switch but the double throw switch I ordered is not lighted. Instead I have plenty of leds that I can use along with a resistor to operate. I’ll probably use a red led to show its lit. To keep things from being obnoxiously bright when driving at night and using too much current potentially draining down the batteries, I’ll probably use a fairly high value limit the led to 5 or 10 milliamp, not the maximum drive current of 20 mA which can be quite BRIGHT. :idea:Fortunately I have all those parts at home. I’ll solder and shrink wrap the electronic components inside then crimp the wires together in the truck and use heat shrink to make the various components connections. Shouldn’t take long even with the added step of that indicator light. If the weather is reasonable I’ll do that on Independence Day. 🎆
I got off the last week of July from July 28th to August 5th for vacation. I was happy to get off the week, as things this summer are tight with scheduling at work. 🌄I’m thinking my typical summer vacation out at the Finger Lakes National Forest, camping hopefully on Chicken Coop Road🐓 and visiting a bunch of state parks 🐟to swim and hike in the gorges and watch the cows chew their cud. 🐮
In four weeks on July 23 the sun will be setting at 8:24 pm,🌄 which is 12 minutes and 40 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had rain, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 80 and 63 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 83 and 62 degrees. The record high of 96 degrees was set back in 1955.
