Reading a book on the electrical code makes me realize how much safer newer homes are compared to older homes

Reading a book on the electrical code makes me realize how much safer newer homes are compared to older homes. And they’re still making buildings a lot safer with the latest revisions of the code. The safety improvements in the building code are not unlike safety standards in automobile industry – they continue to reduce fires and death from shocks – often in very substantial ways.

February 16, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south-southwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThe skies will clear tomorrow around 2 am. Not a real cold night, but I ended up staying home all day because its kind of gray, and I spent sometime riding the exercise bike, some time reading, and some working on some new concepts for blog posts including a few new maps.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 24 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 11th. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northwest after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 17 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1973.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent ๐ŸŒ˜ Moon with 38% illuminated. The Worm ๐Ÿ› Moon is on Tuesday, March 3. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:24 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:53 am in the east-southeast (106ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 1 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 24 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:32 am with sun in the east-southeast (113ยฐ). Tonight will have 13 hours and 21 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 43 seconds over last night.

Washington’s Birthday will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 35 degrees at 2pm. Typical for Washington’s Birthday. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 31 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 1981. 11.9 inches of snow fell back in 2003.โ„

I am thinking tomorrow I will go up to Rensselearville State Forest to do some skiing, โ›ทassuming there is enough snow out there. It’s a bit of a trip up there but I plan to go out to my parents house for Sunday dinner and I haven’t been up that way in quite a while, and it would be nice to spend an afternoon in the hilltowns. Tomorrow morning I have some other stuffย  to do first. Then I am going out to my parents house for Sunday dinner.๐Ÿฒ I might also want to get to the library tomorrow to upload some photos I took on Saturday and maps I made up. Depends on the time, I don’t want to get out skiing too late.

In four weeks on March 15 the sun will be setting in the west (268ยฐ) at 7:02 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 34 minutes and 26 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, warm, rain showers and temperatures between 72 and 44 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 44 and 25 degrees. The record high of 72 degrees was set back in 2019.

Looking ahead, March ๐ŸŒจ is in 2 weeks, Daylight Savings Time ๐ŸŒ† is in 3 weeks, Ides of March โœ is in 4 weeks, Palm Sunday ๐ŸŒด is in 7 weeks, Easter ๐Ÿฐ is in 8 weeks, Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ is in 12 weeks, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 3 months, Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€ is in 13 weeks, Strawberry Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 16 weeks and Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 17 weeks.

1,100 Ex-Justice Officials Call On William Barr To Resign Amid Roger Stone Case : NPR

"Such behavior is a grave threat to the fair administration of justice," the former officials wrote. "In this nation, we are all equal before the law. A person should not be given special treatment in a criminal prosecution because they are a close political ally of the President. Governments that use the enormous power of law enforcement to punish their enemies and reward their allies are not constitutional republics; they are autocracies."
