Oil prices are swinging dramatically, with recent peaks pushing close to a major milestone: $100 a barrel.
The possibility of Russia invading Ukraine is the driving force, but there's more at play than the risk of war. And complicating predictions further, the possibility of a deal with Iran is hovering in the background.
Here's what to know as crude prices hover within striking distance of the triple digits last seen in 2014.
As people across the world grapple with the prospect of living with the coronavirus for the foreseeable future, one question looms large: How soon before they need yet another shot?
Not for many months, and perhaps not for years, according to a flurry of new studies.
Three doses of a Covid vaccine β or even just two β are enough to protect most people from serious illness and death for a long time, the studies suggest.
βWeβre starting to see now diminishing returns on the number of additional doses,β said John Wherry, director of the Institute for immunology at the University of Pennsylvania. Although people over 65 or at high risk of illness may benefit from a fourth vaccine dose, it may be unnecessary for most people, he added.
Federal health officials have said they are not planning to recommend fourth doses anytime soon.
Nord Stream 2: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the pipeline "cannot go online" with Russian troops in eastern Ukraine and that Germany is assessing other ways to secure its energy needs. The U.S. has said that Europe would be too dependent on Russia for its energy needs should the project come to fruition.
Not every day can be sunny, but at least we get two days of mild weather.
Not to be bad, as the rain will probably chew away at the snowbanks before we get the next big snow storm on Friday. Or maybe not. I know different forecast models say different things as we are still a ways out.
But the good news is that we are heading towards March in a week and the sun angle is much stronger now so itβs unlikely the snow lasts. Plus itβs good to have snow in March as it reduces the fire risk.
Itβs nice that with the sunset getting well after 5:30 and dusk after 6 the days feel so much longer. Plus in two weeks we will have the time change which is always good in the evenings but it will make the mornings a bit dark.

Good morning! Happy Psuedo-Monday, In Other Words a Rainy Tuesday After Presidentβs Day.
Mild but cloudy this morning with rain expected by the afternoon. But my hope is the rain comes early so to wash the salt off the roads and then I can go to the car wash and get groceries come the time after work. I donβt expect to be working late today, so itβs a perfect night to wash my salt-encrusted and rapidly rusting truck.
Mostly cloudy and 33 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind but will be picking up later. The rain will be starting somewhere between 3 and 5 PM today, so pack your rain coat but maybe not the umbrella as it will be too windy. But at least mild, with temperatures expected in the mid-50s. The high temperature for today wonβt be reached until 2 AM at around 55 degrees but it will be close to 50 or warmer by sunset.
Nice walk down to the bus stop this morning. Taking the earlier express in this morning. Going to put my lunch in the fridge and then walk laps on the Plaza. I want to get my 10,000 steps in before lunch is over and the rain comes in this evening.
Then after work I want to run to the car wash and give the underbody of my truck a good scrub. Definitely going to need that primer and paint come the spring time. It was so salty out in Rennselearville.
It was nice getting away for part of the weekend. Rennselearville State Forest isnβt too far from home and CCC Road is plowed year around which helps for winter camping with access to that Campsite 2. Not a lot to do up there but hiking and wildlife observation but good skiing and probably good hunting in the autumn.
