Today is the first day of spring. ๐ท๐บ๐ป๐ผThat means longer days, warmer temperatures, and generally more enjoyable weather is just around the corner. In two weeks, the norm will be nights above freezing, and nearly 13 hours of daylight. There is much to look forward to this time of year.

Every year, I usually kick off the camping season with a big road trip somewhere. Here are some of the trips I’ve done in years past:
April 2016 was a relatively cold month after a relatively warm winter. The first night I camped at Stony Pond in Nelson. It got down to 15 degrees.
I visited the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge then camped off of Chicken Coop Road at the Finger Lakes National Forest.
Rather cold weather up on Hector Backbone, so I strung up tarps to block the wind and built big campfires.
Rather gray as things hadn’t really greened up yet.
But in lower elevations, especially along Cayuga Lake, things where starting to bud up, like as seen with this picture of Taughannock State Park.
Rained a bit during the day but camping was great Balsam Pond.
Beautiful sunrise on Balsam Pond.
Nice afternoonย fishing on Whitney Point Reservior, but I didn’t get many bites.
In 2014, I camped on the East Branch of Sacandaga River. It was a pretty night.
I used my solar panel a bit under the sunny skies to keep the accessory battery charged.
In many ways my 2013 trip was similiar to my 2015 trip. I camped at Long Pond, which was very much so still frozen this year.
Hiked up the Berry Hill Firetower.
Visited Rogers Environmental Education Center.
Hike both Crane Mountain and Hadley Mountain and camped off of Harrisburg Road in the Adirondacks.
My truck didn’t have a cap then, so I camped in a tent.
It was fun camping in my then new truck.
It looks like at least in New York, we will end out this month fairly warm and rainy. I’m ready for the salt to be washed off the roads, and for things to start greening up — at least in a month — in the city.
"Equinox" literally means "equal night", giving the impression that the night and day on the equinox are exactly the same length; 12 hours each. But this isn't entirely accurate."
Cultural diversity is increasing across the world. Migration is bringing new people together, changing the face of cities and countryside.๐ฅ But new people and new ideas doesn’t mean traditional values are on the way out — it just means they are changing.
Many liberals want to believe that there will be a surge in demand for liberal policies with the new immigrants. ๐Many conservatives bite into that ideology — ignoring the diversity of immigrants or that a sizable number of them are quite conservative.๐ฐ People who tend to immigrant are of a higher social class, seeking a better life, more dedicated then average person towards free enterprise and economic growth.
Are really migrants that come to America to milk cows๐ฎ, work on farms, live in rural communities — all that liberal? Rural life or even hard blue collar life in the city does not promote liberal ideology for sure.๐ And the many immigrants who own small businesses, are not clamoring for more regulation or taxes on small businesses.๐ข Catholics, which many hispanics are, have no love for new abortion facilities popping up in their neighborhoods. ๐
New people entering into a community can lead to change, for sure. Not all change is bad, more diversity leads to more innovation and growth. Part of embracing diversity is accepting not just new but also existing cultures. ๐ชChange is tough but with mutual respect between the new and old people of an area, we can have a more diverse stronger ๐ช society.
