Rising CO2 limits nitrogen uptake in boreal forests, threatening carbon sink capacity | Chemistry World

Rising atmospheric carbon dioxide is limiting the amount of nitrogen boreal forests can make use of, an analysis of archived tree cores from Sweden has shown. This finding suggests that as humanity’s carbon dioxide emissions continue to rise trees will struggle to compete with microorganisms for nitrogen, slowing the growth of forests and reducing their importance as carbon sinks.

Too much AI Slop? πŸ€–

Lately I’ve been using Google Gemini AI to explore things of interest to myself. When I find the answers and explanations useful, I am sharing on my blog, because I want to share interesting things I discover on the Internet. While AI generated content is controversial, I always review outputs I get from AI and include only things that strike me as valid or accurate summaries of issues of interest. Often the media doesn’t include all details or tie loose ends together well, while AI can be quite helpful in understanding how things actually work.

Hancock Shaker Village Surrounded by Industrial Solar Facilities

While I get the importance of generating more carbon free energy, I'm not sure what my thoughts are on many of the farm fields surrounding the historic agriculture museum being taken over by hundreds of acres of solar panels and electric generating equipment.

Here’s Why!

One of the SuperDuty trucks I'm looking at is like this but with the 6.8 gasser - but the XL Off Road package which gives you the bigger 33" mud tires on small steel wheels, skid plates, off-road shocks and breather tubes for up to 30 inches of water. I like how it's basic, almost stripper truck, inexpensive to replace halogen lights, but you get the 8 foot bed with the extended cab. They're not that plentiful at dealerships though, so I'm not sure if I can get a good price and most of ones have Minizilla 6.8 rather then the Godzilla 7.3, which I don't need the power for towing but I would prefer the greater reliability of the bigger engine.
