March 3, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Partly clear ๐ŸŒ… and 27 degrees for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ. There is a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 10 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธIn preparation for the next snow storm which is unfortunately coming on a Saturday when I like to walk ๐Ÿ‘ฃ out to Five Rivers.

Not the worse morning ever ๐ŸŒ„but I’m well aware it’s still early March and it will only get warmer through July. It’s March and we might still get some final gasps of winter but it can’t hold out for long.

Mornings are noticeably brighter now ๐Ÿ”† that is when the sun is shinning. That said it’s right in my eyes ๐Ÿ‘€ on the Delmar bypass which is obnoxious. It only gets worse come spring though in a little over a week things will be dark unless I push my morning walk back to 6:45 which I might have to for a few weeks. ๐Ÿฆ I can hear the Red Winged black birds out so that’s a sign of spring ๐ŸŒธ.

Today will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a high of 39 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 27th. North wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 64 was set in 2002. 10.9 inches of snow fell back in 1994.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:08 pm with sun having an altitude of 40.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-30.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 5:09 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (255ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ

The sunset is in the west (262ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:47 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 56 seconds with dusk around 6:15 pm, which is one minute and 13 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east (97ยฐ) at an altitude of 45ยฐ from the horizon, 252,255 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:48 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 37 degrees. There will be a east-northeast breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 11 hours and 22 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet before 2am, then snow, possibly mixed with sleet. The snow could be heavy at times. Low of 32 degrees at 12am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 30th. East wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. In 2022, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 22 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1950.

Back in 1972, an airplane crashes in suburban Albany, off Holmesdale Ave in Albany (near Colvin Avenue and Washington Ave). Regional Carrier, ๐Ÿ›ฌ Mohawk Airlines Flight 405 crashes as a result of a control malfunction and insufficient training in emergency procedures. Also today in 1873, U.S. Congress enacts the Comstock Law, making it illegal to send any “obscene, lewd, or lascivious” books through the mail. ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ 150 years later, all the pornography is on the evening news. ๐Ÿ“ฐ And in 1991, an amateur video captures the beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles police officers.

Tomorrow will rain, possibly mixed with snow. The snow could be heavy at times. ๐ŸŒง High of 37 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 24th. North wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1919. 8.3 inches of snow fell back in 1971.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, partly sunny, โ˜€ with a high near 42. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph. That will be tough on the snow. I’m good with that fact though, I’m not that big of a fan of winter especially needing new skis ๐ŸŽฟ come next year. Typical average high for the weekend is 41 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until St. Patrick’s Day ๐Ÿ€ when the sun will be setting at 7:05 pm with dusk at 7:31 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2022, we had cloudy and temperatures between 45 and 28 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 45 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.

February 22, 2023 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Comes quicker when Monday’s a holiday, of course. Partly clear and 34 degrees for the morning walk. ๐ŸŒ…There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 8 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Another morning stumbling along for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ. I don’t know why I’ve been in such a haze the past few days but I have in the morning. It’s not a bad morning, I thought I slept fairly well ๐Ÿ› and was in bed a little after nine 9โƒฃ though I ended up studying Post GIS and using address ranges to extrapolate address from position for reverse geocoding.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow, mainly after 4pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž ๐Ÿ‘‰ ๐ŸŒฅ , with a high of 40 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 28th. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 1997. 14.8 inches of snow fell back in 1893.โ„

Yesterday evening truth be told, ๐Ÿคฎ I wasn’t feeling well but I’m fine this morning as I slowly but surely wake myself up walking ๐Ÿšถ. I’m running a bit late for my morning walk having not got started until 6:20. But today is a breakfast reheat day ๐Ÿฅž so I should be good for time. Worse comes to worse I won’t walk all the way to the Park and Ride and instead catch the express bus somewhere on Elm.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 37.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-33.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:58 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (250ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (257ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:36 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 58 seconds with dusk around 6:04 pm, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-southwest (245ยฐ) at an altitude of 26ยฐ from the horizon, 232,663 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:38 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over today.

Again plan on getting as many steps as possible in early ๐Ÿ‘ฃ As who knows what the era will bring come the evening. Lately they’ve been so pessimistic at the metrological Bureau. But I know they are really sounding the ice alarm โฐ for tonight. Tomorrow might be too icy for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ I’m thinking.

Tonight will rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 3am, then rain or freezing rain between 3am and 4am, then rain and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet after 4am. โ˜” Low of 32 degrees at 8pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 30th. East wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible. In 2022, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1972.

Cloudy and cool for the weekend. โ˜๏ธ Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees. Truth is I didn’t have any plans for the weekend at any rate.

Looking ahead, next Wednesday is March ๐ŸŒจ when the sun will be setting at 5:45 pm with dusk at 6:12 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 41 and 17 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 40 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 2017. I know, I got the notification that my rent check was mailed yesterday. Some day I’ll own my own land ๐Ÿšœ and my tax bill will probably be more than my rent check knowing the tax rules in New York State.

February 17, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Happy Friday. Cloudy, dark and 51 degrees for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ in the land of the Delmaratian. Maybe the reason it’s so dark is that it’s still 6:15 and February but I’m moving. There is a south breeze at 14 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 49 degrees. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 5 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Grabbed my hoodie and headed out and then took it off. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ Only a few more hours of the warmth though before the mercury starts dropping. That said, it wont get that cold tonight as it’s still February but I don’t be leaving my windows open while at work today. But April is like 45 days off a fact I’m sure my friends in the government budget office are well aware of.

Today will rain before 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ Temperature rising to near 54 by 10am, then falling to around 33 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. You get a little of everything in that forecast. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 60 was set in 1981. 11.9 inches of snow fell back in 2003.โ„

No rain yet โ˜” but I’d say there is a decent chance I’ll taking the bus from the stop closest to where I live at 8 though who knows. Often they are overly pessimistic when it comes to rain. There are a ton of dog ๐Ÿถ walkers out bright and early today. Probably because it’s so mild.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 35.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-35.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:51 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (248ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (255ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:30 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 1 seconds with dusk around 5:58 pm, which is one minute and 17 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:32 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 33 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 21. โ˜ƒ๏ธ Breezy, 20 mph breeze โ›… from the northwest with gusts up to 30mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 45 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 44 seconds over today.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 19 degrees at 6am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 19th. Maximum wind chill around 6 at 5am; Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 22 mph. In 2022, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 19 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1973.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 41 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 3rd. Northwest wind 7 to 13 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1981. 6.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. South wind 5 to 11 mph. ๐ŸŒฅ Rain showers later in the day for President’s Day, 50. Typical average high for the weekend is 37 degrees. Not bad for President’s Day Weekend. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Probably heading out of town for the weekend ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ but I’m not set on it. Going to be mild for sure though after Sunday more cloudy. I sleep so much better after a few nights in the woods and I doubt I’ll have much of a chance come March until maybe later in April.

One month ๐Ÿ“… from now will be St. Patrick’s Day ๐Ÿ€ when the sun will be setting at 7:05 pm with dusk at 7:31 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature is 34 degrees, with a record high of 61 in 1895.

February 13, 2023 Evening

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar for the evening walk. โ˜๏ธ Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 10 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Can you believe Monday is already done? โŒ› Last week seemed to also go by in a flash. It seems like life is going by so quickly these days but maybe that’s intentional on my part. I put a lot of things into auto pilot โœˆ as if you make good habits happen they compound.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy โ˜๏ธ, with a low of 33 degrees at 5am. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. Breezy, with a light and variable wind becoming northwest 15 to 20 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. In 2022, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 15 degrees. The record low of -13 occurred back in 2016.

It was nice taking the express bus ๐Ÿš both ways to work today on a session dress up day. That said the morning bus was running late and then the ramp getting onto 787 was closed due to construction. But it beats taking the local. As planned I got off at the Plaza to get a few extra steps in.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter ๐ŸŒ— Moon with 44% illuminated. The Worm ๐Ÿ› Moon is on Wednesday, March 1. The darkest hour is at 12:11 am, followed by dawn at 6:27 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:56 am in the east-southeast (108ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 2 seconds.

Sunrise is one minute and 21 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:36 am with sun in the east-southeast (115ยฐ). Tonight will have 13 hours and 26 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 40 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 45 degrees at 2pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 15th. Northwest wind 7 to 17 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 28 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1946. 23.5 inches of snow fell back in 1914.โ„

The weather for tomorrow looks decent. โ˜€ Too bad I’ll be in my office all day but I enjoy the sunshine and the natural light. Days are long enough these days I don’t need my desk lamp at all on sunny days when I get out by five 5โƒฃ which is nice.

In four weeks on March 13 the sun will be setting in the west (267ยฐ) at 7:00 pm (Daylight Savings Time),๐ŸŒ„ which is one hour, 34 minutes and 43 seconds later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 39 and 23 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 44 and 25 degrees. The record high of 70 degrees was set back in 2012.

Looking ahead, Presidents Day ๐Ÿ‘ด is Next Monday, 8 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† is in 8 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 11 weeks, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 16 weeks, Average High is 80 ๐Ÿ– is in 18 weeks, World Mosquito Day ๐Ÿž is in 27 weeks, Labor Day ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ is in 29 weeks, September 11th ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 30 weeks, 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 31 weeks, Average Night Below Freezing ๐ŸŒŒ is in 9 months, Cyber Monday ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 41 weeks, First Sunday of Advent โœ๏ธ is in 42 weeks, Bake Cookies Day ๐Ÿช is in 44 weeks and Christmas ๐ŸŽ… is in 45 weeks.

February 13, 2023 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. But so does the express bus ๐Ÿš which makes for an easier commute. Partly clear and 27 degrees for the morning walk. ๐ŸŒ… There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 8 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ.

I heard something about a football ๐Ÿˆ game on the radio ๐Ÿ“ป this morning while listening to the BBC report on climate change and the ocean ๐ŸŒŽ which I found more interesting. Then I got up, reheated the coffee and pancakes ๐Ÿฅž. Saves so much time. I have actually no idea how long the game went on, but Walmart wasn’t crowded last night at 6 PM and I was in bed by 9 PM.

Great morning for the walk. ๐Ÿšถ Lots of fresh crisp air with a slight taste of barnyard ๐Ÿฎ on it. No sunrise yet but it’s coming. Mostly clear skies which is nice. Shower ๐Ÿšฟ and catch the express at 8:15 right from by home which is great. I will probably get off at the Plaza and walk over to the SOB where I work for some extra steps though I don’t have to if it looks like there is a lot of protestors at the Plaza. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ Tomorrow I might do my walk at 6:15 rather than a as there is quite a bit of daylight now in the morning. Then so breakfast second.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 48 degrees at 3pm. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 22nd. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 21 degrees. The record high of 58 was set in 1900. 9.0 inches of snow fell back in 1893.โ„

I’ve decided as part of my calorie reduction program ๐Ÿ to focus on eating a minimum of 2-3 lb of fruits and vegetables a day. I’ve noticed already that with a more stable blood sugar levels and a full stomach that does more reduce calories than anything else. You look at the calories labels and you really can’t eat enough fruits and vegetables to get fat off them. ๐Ÿคฐ๐Ÿผ Plus eating fruits and vegetables is far more fun than saying no, no matter what the puritans tell you. I am restocking the fruit bowl ๐ŸŠ today.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 34° from the due south horizon (-36.8° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:45 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (246°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (253°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:25 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 3 seconds with dusk around 5:53 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:27 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 45 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over today.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 33 degrees at 6am.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 39. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 37 degrees.

Now the question ๐Ÿ™‹ for the weekend is where to go. I know many people would like me to go to hell but I already live and work there so I’m thinking more likely Schoharie or Madison County would be good. The horse ๐Ÿด trails in Madison County would likely thought be muddy. I did really enjoy that trip.

Looking ahead, next Monday is Presidents Day ๐Ÿ‘ด when the sun will be setting at 5:34 pm with dusk at 6:01 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 28 and 13 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 37 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 1930. I think Martin Van Burean is my favorite president.
