February 22, 2023 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Comes quicker when Monday’s a holiday, of course. Partly clear and 34 degrees for the morning walk. ๐ŸŒ…There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 8 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Another morning stumbling along for my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ. I don’t know why I’ve been in such a haze the past few days but I have in the morning. It’s not a bad morning, I thought I slept fairly well ๐Ÿ› and was in bed a little after nine 9โƒฃ though I ended up studying Post GIS and using address ranges to extrapolate address from position for reverse geocoding.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow, mainly after 4pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž ๐Ÿ‘‰ ๐ŸŒฅ , with a high of 40 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 28th. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 68 was set in 1997. 14.8 inches of snow fell back in 1893.โ„

Yesterday evening truth be told, ๐Ÿคฎ I wasn’t feeling well but I’m fine this morning as I slowly but surely wake myself up walking ๐Ÿšถ. I’m running a bit late for my morning walk having not got started until 6:20. But today is a breakfast reheat day ๐Ÿฅž so I should be good for time. Worse comes to worse I won’t walk all the way to the Park and Ride and instead catch the express bus somewhere on Elm.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 37.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-33.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 7.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:58 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (250ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (257ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:36 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 58 seconds with dusk around 6:04 pm, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-southwest (245ยฐ) at an altitude of 26ยฐ from the horizon, 232,663 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:38 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over today.

Again plan on getting as many steps as possible in early ๐Ÿ‘ฃ As who knows what the era will bring come the evening. Lately they’ve been so pessimistic at the metrological Bureau. But I know they are really sounding the ice alarm โฐ for tonight. Tomorrow might be too icy for the morning walk ๐Ÿšถ I’m thinking.

Tonight will rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 3am, then rain or freezing rain between 3am and 4am, then rain and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet after 4am. โ˜” Low of 32 degrees at 8pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 30th. East wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible. In 2022, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1972.

Cloudy and cool for the weekend. โ˜๏ธ Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 23. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 39 degrees. Truth is I didn’t have any plans for the weekend at any rate.

Looking ahead, next Wednesday is March ๐ŸŒจ when the sun will be setting at 5:45 pm with dusk at 6:12 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 41 and 17 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 40 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 2017. I know, I got the notification that my rent check was mailed yesterday. Some day I’ll own my own land ๐Ÿšœ and my tax bill will probably be more than my rent check knowing the tax rules in New York State.
