Asparagus cooked on sweet onions topped with parmesan, extra virgin oil and some MSG.
Pretty sure that’s very similar to the recipe to make crack cocaine, OMG is that amazing.

The air certainly has the smell of rain, grass, multi flora rose and farm but not much rain has fallen at all. I probably could have headed out of town and it would have been decent with more sun this afternoon. I guess save it for a future weekend. I’m hoping for more rain during the work week, we could use it.
Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Clouds ☁️ 62 degrees this morning in Delmar. Definitely a change from yesterday. There is a northeast breeze at 13 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 59 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm.
Out walking 🚶 this morning closer to eight am. Banana 🍌 oatmeal pancakes this morning. I was up at six o’clock but decided to do breakfast first. Feeling a little tired and nauseous this morning, I think it’s the weather. I do think I should have gotten out of town but I told John Wolcott I would visit him today so I’m committed to staying in town this weekend. I started a pot of brown rice and lentils on stove for the coming week week, turned it off before the walk. 🍲 No to taking the Nature Bus 🚍 this week to Thacher Park. It’s kind of silly, I could drive my big jacked up truck there any week and spend the day. I have a state parks pass for unlimited use. Mom and Dad get it for me every year.
Today will have a slight chance of showers before 1pm. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 65 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 28th. Maximum dew point of 59 at 8am. Northeast wind 13 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 78 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1925.
I told myself that I was going to look at used bicycles this morning 🚲 but I don’t know. I just need to figure out how to repair the bicycle I have. I’m so enthralled by the throwaway culture we live in. The bicycle I have is fine, I just need to figure out the spokes for the wheel. I have the parts. And maybe I don’t want a bicycle after all. 🤷♂️ Walking is fine. I can’t get to the Albany Bicycle Rescue to a week from Tuesday but it’s fine I think they are closed next week. After talking with them I can get a better idea if it’s worth me rebuilding on my own 🛠 with some guidance or donate the old bicycle parts and get something used. I really don’t want to spend $800 on a new bicycle only to have it break down or be stolen. 🪚
Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 69.7° from the due south horizon (-1.1° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 7:46 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (295°). 📸 The sunset is in the west-northwest (302°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:28 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 24 seconds with dusk around 9:02 pm, which is 46 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At dusk you’ll see the Full 🌝 Moon in the southeast (132°) at an altitude of 5° from the horizon, 232,780 miles away. 🚀 The best time to look at the stars is after 9:47 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies 🌃 and temperatures around 61 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a east-northeast breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 11 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 11 seconds over yesterday.
After going to see John this afternoon I plan to hike in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve 🦋 to see how many Karner Blue butterflies I can see and maybe get some lupine pictures before it’s gone for the season. I was thinking last night looking at the lilies at the town park it might be too late for seeing many lilies on Lily Lake in the Adirondacks even if I visit on Juneteenth Weekend. 🌺 Maybe some year. Next weekend I promised dad I would go with him to the Gas Up Antique Tractor 🚜 Festival.
Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌃 , with a low of 48 degrees at 4am. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 16th. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1947.
Yesterday had a work lunch at Juniors in North Greenbush. 🍚 It was nice though the food was so unhealthy. I ordered a gyro bowl, the healthiest thing on the menu with brown rice, quiona, black olives and tomatoes 🍅 and when it came, it was an enormous portion, biggest bowl I’ve ever seen, and was loaded with carbs and not many vegetables. And of course being my unmindful self I eat it down. But I didn’t order beer 🍻 and went very light on the shared nachos. But I tell you it’s hard to even eat somewhat healthy when out with folks. Much rather cook at home when I have control over the ingredients. 🧑🍳
Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until Latest Sunset 🌆 when the sun will be setting at 8:38 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2022, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 86 and 61 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1943.
Technically it’s a day too early to be listening to that song about Billy Jo McAllister but on the other side it feels such an appropriate song. Seems like so many so many conversations. I’m just looking forward to being able to wear daisies in my hair. 🌼
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Sunny and 64 degrees at the for the morning walk in Delmar. 🌞 There is a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 57 degrees. 🐮 The air tastes like grain and hay.
Last night wasn’t that warm 😰 though after getting my steps 👣 in and doing some leg and arm crunches I was feeling sweaty. 💪
I think I’m going to do eggs 🥚, spinach and beans for breakfast 🍳 this morning. I have that lunch today at work but first I want to make sure I have a stomach full of fiber so I limit how much of that inevitably high calorie restaurant food. Also trying to get in as many steps 👣 as possible in the morning in case this evening is very wet. I’m somewhat disappointed that I won’t be getting out of town this weekend.
Today will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Sunny 🌞, with a high of 88 degrees at 1pm. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 60 at 9am. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 78 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1895.
Going to be another ol hot summer day, 🏖 this day with a bit more humidity but still hardly oppressive. Right it’s super nice. Too bad it’s going to turn to rain and much cooler come this evening 🌃 into the weekend. I guess enjoy it while you still can thought it will be back for the work week from hell but then they’ll be gone for the summer. 👿 My thoughts are totally on the Potholers which I’ll be at in two weeks, God willing for the Juneteenth Weekend, which is my favorite holiday of the year.
I was hoping to walk down to the Park and Ride 🚏but breakfast took longer than expected 🗡 with all the chopping and then it seemed like the eggs weren’t cooked enough 🍳 so I had to put them back in broiler a bit longer. I did double check ☑ to make sure the oven is off before heading out. Ultimately I walked halfway to the Park and Ride and I’m thinking I’ll be closing in on 4 miles before I start work at nine. Worse comes to worse I’ll wear a rain coat for the evening walk 🚶.
Tonight will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. 🌧️ North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
It looks like National Gird is busy upgrading the lines by the High School 🚸 to add new power poles and electricity capacity to support more electric buses in the coming years. They cut the trees before Indiana bat 🦇 season and it looks like they have it marked out for the poles to be installed in the coming days. Electric buses are the future as are electric cars. It’s happening, finally now.
Then for Saturday, scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 70. 🌥 👉 ☀ North wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
I decided on Saturday I am going to browse used bicycles 🚲 to see what is available at a few local stores. I would kind of prefer a more road bike for commuting and longer distance travel then my hybrid bicycle. But I’m thinking I will continue my effort to restore my old bicycle maybe reaching out to Albany Bicycle Rescue for some help on the wheel. If I’m planning on doing a lot of bicycle commuting it might be best to have a back up after things break down as the inevitably will. 🛠
Then heading over to Colonie to visit John Wolcott and if the weather is decent take him out to the Crossings. 🏞 Then in the evening I plan to head over to the Albany Pine Bush 🦋 and stop at Market 32 in Guilderland for groceries. 🛒 Sunday go out and see the folks. 👪 And then the big final week ahead.
One week from now session should be wrapping up 🧑🏻💼 and I should be able to put away my poorly fitting dress clothes for a while as I figure out what my future looks like. I’m ready for some nice summer weekends in the Potholers. Sunset on that day is 8:33 pm with dusk at 9:06. I know it well, I’ve been staying up too late. 🌇 77 degrees is the normal high, it got up to 93 degrees back in 2011. Long range says 75 and sunny for next Friday but it’s certain to change.
While ultimately what I learned is what I completely expected and was disappointed about that, the truth is a got definative answers, it didn’t cost me anything and I now know what options lay ahead.
It’s not pleasant to get hear the answer you don’t want to hear from you but when information is free and beneficial it’s worthwhile to know where things actually stand. Just a little gas and time wasted.
I will get a second opinion and look at my alternatives going forward. But I knew it would happen this way. Maybe I can make some good come out of these situation by improving my skills and knowledge.
Budget friendly side and basis of many meals for the coming week. I rotate the type of beans and lentils every week to keep things interesting.
And I use them with many different types of meals, adding different flavors and ingredients on top for many varieties.
