US Route 33 Over Shenandoah Mountain
US Route 33 Over Shenandoah Mountain -- West Virginia and Virginia. Notice how the State of West Virginia has widened and improved US 33 on the western slope of the mountain, making it much easier to drive.
The reason the road has so many switch backs is the terrain is very steep -- much steeper then you would find in New York or New England.
"And the road would wind and wind and wind, when we drove through the hills of West Virginia"
