Schoharie County

Schoharie County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2010 census, the population was 32,749. The county seat is Schoharie.

A primarily rural county known for the fertile Schoharie Valley, it is also home to many state forests, including Burnt-Rossman State Forest.

Lean-To Side

This is truly a beautiful lean-to. You don't see many thru-hikers on this part of the Long Path, and indeed I think from looking at the log, only about 10 people have ever stayed here since it was built circa 2007.

This is an almost brand new lean to on the Long Path, yet it's almost unknown to most people locally. The roadside campsites up here get far more use, as does the lean-to on Cotton Hill.

There was about a four-feet snow bank outside of the lean-to, from where the snow had melted off the roof, and piled up. It was good, because it limited the breezes blowing into the lean-to.
