Lake Champlain in Evening

A picture of Lake Champlain in the evening looking across towards Vermont. It's very cold out and the lake looks very blue.

View from My College Dorm Room

The first year I stayed at Plattsburgh State I had a dorm room on the ninth floor of Wilson Hall. In the foreground is Ruger Woods and the Saranac River which ran just past my dorm. Beyond it is Plattsburgh High School Football field, along with the Adirondack Mountains. The gap in the distance is between Pokomoonshine and Bigelow Mountain, where the Adirondack Northway goes past Butternut Pond and climbs into the Adirondacks.

Paper Plant

That's one of Plattsburgh's most famous landmark, the Georgia Pacific Toilet Paper and Paper Towels. It's the reason why the city kind of smells at times like burning dog shit. When you crack the fibers of pulpwood, it releases the sulfur from the fibers, and our noises are super sensitive to low-level releases of hydrogen sulfide.

Camping at Cumberland Head State Park

I decided on my first day of my summer vacation to spend a night at Cumberland Head State Park. I normally don't like staying a state campgrounds, but it was really hot, and I wanted a quick place I could stay near Plattsburgh.
