The preserve is covered by many different vernal pools and small wetlands in the backwaters of the Hudson which make it perfect for observing nature and wildlife.

For a while after my walk I just sat down by the Hudson River. A very quiet afternoon on the river with the boat docks closed and not any commerical traffic either on the river.

Walking along the path to the river that is maintained by Coast Guard. The signs at the entrance suggest you shouldn't walk this path but it's not posted or anything to discourage exploration.
