Notes

My views on the 2024 Presidential Election …

  • I like Chase Oliver the libertarian for President, and it’s not like it matters who you vote for in New York as Kamela is going to win New York State and that’s all that matters.
  • I might write in Edward Abby for President. I think he has many good ideas and he’s dead with a tomb stone in the desert that says, No Comment. Which is the best answer for any politician.
  • Kamela would be good with the grass I like to smoke. Make America Stoned Again. Seriously, I just want to be able to legally smoke grass in the National Forest and bring it across state lines. Not that ever stopped me. Just like you shouldn’t burn plastic in New York, it’s bad for the environment unlike bulldozing endangered species habitat for housing and paving over farm fields for solar farms.
  • Kamela would promote more of her anti-second amendment crap and arbitrary and capricous restrictions on our gun rights. She probably lock up more of our public lands with more barricades and develop more of the wilderness in parks for SUV driving yuppies.

Saturday ☀

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

Like everything in life you have to make choices. ↗️↖️ I could have gone out to Schoharie today but the water 💦 levels in the Schoharie were probably too high for good calm floating ⭕ and who knows if there would be bridges or trees down at Burnt-Rossman Hills. So instead I’m catching the Nature Bus to Thacher Park 🏞 and will ride trail there and maybe back down the mountain and home. I might hammock camp tonight 🎑 and ride trail at Partridge Run and cool down and read 📖 at the Switz Kill. But I’m undecided like usual.

Probably I’ll start my day out at Five Rivers 🐸 and then catch the bus on New Scotland maybe out near Voorheeesville 🚍, spend a short time with the magic dragon 🐲 but not too much because I am thinking of driving 🚘 out to the wilderness later 🔥 and then spend the majority of the day at Thacher Park and Thompson Lake. Undecided if I’m going to ride home, 🚲 though let’s be honest it’s a blast to ride down from Thacher Park.

I’m listening to Edward Abby’s the Brave Cowboy 🤠 audio book. 📙 Hoopla has decided with all the books 📚 I read about the wilderness and off grid cabins and solar and smoking grass I would be into Edward Abby. I mean they’re not wrong. I never considered myself a radical environmentalist even though I don’t recycle plastic and spend a lot of time truck camping in the wilderness.

Can you see the blue skies? 🌥

They’re peaking around and it’s a pretty decent evening after what in some places was a pretty severe weather day, though it mostly was a brief but fairly heavy rain in Menands a little after five. Mostly just real humid though.

Water levels are high on the Norman’s Kill for sure.🏞️ I’m down at the Norman’s Kill West Preserve for a bit, want to get some rice and beans, bananas and frozen fruit at Hannaford 🛒 and ride a bit this evening. 🚲

The week came and went quickly 🐇 arguably even faster than summer vacation. 🏖 I thought about Schoharie tomorrow, going to be a nice weekend, maybe instead I’ll do the Nature Bus 🚍 to Thacher Park and then come home and hammock camp in the woods – maybe somewhere different then Cole Hill. 🏕 That said, summer is fading fast being the second weekend of August now 🗓 and I still want to do one more long weekend at Pisceo Powley before things get busy with work in the autumn. 🍂

I find it hard to believe I’m facing another winter so soon and the bike trail will be covered with snow and ice 🌨 soon. And I’m still at my run down apartment with all those air leaks but for who knows how long before the eviction notice comes. ✉ That said, I’m sure the work next door 🚪 and all the grinding and noise will start early tomorrow morning to make up lost time. ⌚ I just hate having the landlord peaking into my windows. I get it’s his place and he needs to eventually finish the renovationa next door but it’s annoying. 🛠

I feel sweaty and sore this morning 🌧️

It’s the rain and humidity for sure. More of a drizzle right now, but for a while it was a very intense rain.

Walk out of any doorway
Feel your way, feel your way like the day before
Maybe you’ll find direction
Around some corner where it’s been waiting to meet you

I can’t believe it was a week ago that I was at Cornell in the Finger Lakes. 🌼 The days of grass and grass puppies 🐮 are fading rapidly in memory. That was a pretty rainy day though not as rainy as today. I can listen to the Grateful Dead and ponder my indecisiveness as the days. No rain currently – I almost could have ridden in but Erie Boulevard will be a canal by evening if the weatherman is to be believed, though they keep stepping down the rain forecast. 🌧️

Last night I was tired 😴 and fell asleep 🛏 shortly after dinner of fried zucchini 🍆 and some oatmeal and cherries 🍒 and watching an interesting video on 555 timers. ⏰ I should get back into electronics again. Maybe it’s a good way to pass the winter, especially if I stay in my dumpy and drafty apartment for another year. I was going to read 📖 some of the numerous ebooks I have out from the library but that didn’t happen.

Walking 🚶 the Empire Plaza before catching the shuttle 🚀 up to Menands on this soon to be very rainy ☔ morning. It looks like the Finger Lakes will be getting particularly wet, so maybe it’s best I’m heading to the suburban office 🏢 and not out in the wilderness today. I need to bite the bullet and decide who I am going to hire today. I mean I’ve made up my mind but I’m not ready to admit I’ve decided. I also probably should reinstall Zillow and continue trying to figure out my housing situation. As I’m sure the nailing and jack hammering will be starting up extra early tomorrow next door after the rain day today. 🚧 And I’m watching the stock market continue to crap out 📉, which is chewing away at my assets but also should eventually help with housing and auto prices.

I’m undecided about the weekend. ☀ The weather has improved enormously since earlier in the week but tonight is going to be rather wet and stormy and nothing is packed. Tomorrow is the Nature Bus 🚍 out to Thacher Park. I could do that and then hammock camp sort of like three weeks ago. Or I could go out to Schoharie for an overnight of riding trail and swimming 🏊 at Mine Kill and floating in the tube ⭕ on the Schoharie Creek. Water levels might be very high, but next weekend looks bad in the long range forecast. But we are down to two more weeks left in August before Labor Day Weekend. 📅
