New York State
Tug Hill State Forest (Inman Gulf Area)
This 12,242-acre state forest, actually a combination of four neighboring forests, is so named because it is located entirely on the Tug Hill Plateau, an area that is renowned for its harsh winters and heavy snowfalls. This area is along the Inman Trail and is criss-crossed by cross country skil trails in the winter, many of which are nice trails for accessing the back country in the summer (the power line trail can be swampy in the summer).
Hunger And Kiakout Kill
The Hunger Kill and Kiakout Kill are deep ravines in the Albany Pine Bush, that drop far below the dunes that predominate the land.

Before Dysfunction Junction – NY 73 and US 9 (1942 Aerial)
I did a quick and dirty map warp of the October 13, 1942 aerial photo of Underwood to show what Dysfunction Junction looked like in the 1940s and 1950s prior to early-1960s re-alignment of US 9 that included building a higher-speed legged interchange with NY 73.
