Ferris Lake Wild Forest

Encompassing a vast expanse of 147,454 acres, the Ferris Lake Wild Forest is characterized by the presence of ancient spruce stands. These can be observed along the Powley-Piseco Road, the northern banks of Alderbed Stream, the vicinity of Blind Man’s Vly, and the slopes of both Big and Little Alderbed Mountains. Adding to its allure, the region boasts an array of ponds, lakes, and streams, attracting outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen year-round.

The Wild Forest accommodates 14.6 miles of hiking trails, along with an extensive 117-mile network of snowmobile trails (many of which are multi-use), catering to various recreational preferences. With 97 primitive campsites, a boat launch, and a boat dock, the area is well-equipped for adventurers. Furthermore, the public can access 10.95 miles of roads, granting motorized entry to this expansive and captivating property.

Hiking Edick Road Extension Trail

Edick Road Extension Trail goes from the end of Edick Road Extension to Piseco-Powley Road. The seasonal snowmobile trail and old woods road is relatively flat, as it goes through a quiet section of woods. The creeks are fairly well bridged by snowmobile bridges, as this is a key snowmobile connector route in the winter.

Nice Autumn Day at the Potholers

Enjoying the cool waters on a hot late summer day in mid-September at the Potholers Swimming Hole, aka Bray House Falls on Piseco-Powley Road. Despite the mercury being around 80 degrees, the trees are turning colors.

Out on the East Canada Creek

Just a quiet moment on the East Canada Creek on a cloudy day in a kayak, about a 1 1/2 miles from Powley Place.

House Pond Campsite Swimming Hole

While I certainly prefer the Potholers to this swimming hole, it's nice that is right across the street from this campsite and provides a nice quite location to sit enjoy a hot summer afternoon.
