My endless fascination with the COVID-19 Vaccination Advertising π
My endless fascination with the COVID-19 Vaccination Advertising π
I’ve been identified by the internet advertising algorithms as being an anti-vaxxer. I post a lot of diagrams and maps about COVID, in part because the government puts out so much raw data about. I’m friends with and members of many homesteaders, farmers, off-grider types many who aren’t thrilled by government mandated vaccinations although many who aren’t that afraid of needles or science because they use it every day to keep their land producing. Even though the pandemic has largely burned itself out for now, big government money and private foundation money keeps the COVID-19 Vaccination campaign going.
I’m just so fascinated by how the ads try to convince me to get vaccinated. I’m not sure how effective they are at this point as people already know the pros and cons of the vaccine. Maybe it’s because I’m a communications professional by trade, I study messaging, polling and focus groups. But I also know how hard it can be to move partisans. And hell, I’m kind of stuck in my ways. I’m sure most of the ad spend is a waste, then again most advertising is a waste.
I got vaccinated over a year ago and then boosted in December. Come autumn I will probably get my second booster with my flu shot. Not because I love Joe Biden or my cesspool community but because I hate the racketeering medical community and don’t want to get sick and have to deal with snooty medical doctors and nurses who think they are better than their sick patients. I value my independence and I know most medical facilities are looking to make a buck by scamming patients and their insurance. Getting vaccinated so you don’t get sick is a plenty good reason for me.
I think it’s actually a pretty effective message to tell people, get vaccinated so you don’t get sick. Not because you want to protect your community. Vaccination may not be fun, it may make you feel awful the next day, but it’s good to protect yourself from high medical bills, misery in a hospital, and all the other things that come from getting COVID-19 without being protected by the vaccine.

Look at those temperatures for next week π
Beach weather by Upstate NY assuming that you are a member of your polar bear πββοΈ club. Winter has to break at some point. Things are starting to continue to green up as far as grass is concerned in Delmar but not a lot of tree action.

Daily Update – April 8, 2022
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday, Part 2! βΊ
I guess it was still a Friday when I drive home from work last night and it still Friday, Part 2.
Rain showers, clouds and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a northwest breeze at 5 mph. π. The skies will clear around 1 pm.
Got home at 12:30 last night π and after seven odd hours of sleep π I’m up for my morning walk πΆ. Obviously no evening walk last night. Hundreds of earth worms on the pavement after yesterday’s heavy rain β.
It was a late night at work π’ and I miss those years gone by but so be it. I’ll catch the bus in today π so if I’m a bit sleepy I won’t be driving home. Take a nap under my desk if I miss the last bus home and catch the first bus home in the morning. Probably won’t make it to the transfer station but I can always smash bottles down more. β»
This weekend looks relatively mild π§οΈbut rainy. I am probably going to be recovering from the past few days and next weekend is Easter π° and a three day weekend assuming the budget is done and Good Friday is a holiday.
Still hoping to get out of town next weekend βΊ, maybe exploring Moss Island and camping up at Stewart Landing although I wonder how soft the road will be up there back to the campsites. The DEC did improve it a few years back. I know Piseco-Powley is still gated.
I keep seeing ads that say that Wi-Fi is essential π»
I keep seeing ads that say that Wi-Fi is essential π»
The thing is since the pandemic has come and gone, and my smartphone plan now offers unlimited data aka 60 GB a month, plus a 5 GB hotspot, I find that harder to believe. It’s hard to use that much data on a phone. The thing is the modern, basic smartphone can do nearly as much as laptop can do, at least as far as social media, web browsing, Youtube and email. 4G seems plenty fast to me.
I don’t particularly enjoy sitting at a desk — especially after a day at work doing that, and would rather have my phone where I can take it wherever is comfortable. My phone uses a lot less power then my laptop, easier to lug around, and works wherever I have cell service. And not having WI-FI on my laptop means when I’m using it, I don’t have distractions of social media or email pings, or the ability to wander off into the vast space of the inter-webs.
Weather Update – April 7, 2022
Hello rain, at least you held off for most of the morning walk β
Things are going to be quite wet at least today and showers through the weekend. But warmer weather and sunny next week. Not sure about the second half of the week though if I want to get out of town. I’m hopeful. If not the weather only gets better as spring approaches bar the blsck flies.

Daily Update – April 7, 2022
Good morning! Today 7:30 PM is the Sunset π .
The real question is whether or not I get home by 7:30 pm. My feeling is probably no but who knows the way things are going lately, odd seems like it will before six.
Rain showers and 47 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. π. The skies will clear tomorrow around 2 pm.
It’s not raining that hard that I’m out for my morning walk πΆ. Actually clearing a bit to the east although I expect more rain before I get home.
I have no idea what this weekend or next week looks like. π€·ββοΈ I went to the shitty laundromat mid week because my usual one was closed. I figured I wanted to have enough dress clothes should I be working through the weekend π¨π»βπΌ. I haven’t asked for any time off next week because everything is so up in the air with work. Heck of it is my division isn’t particularly busy with budget stuff.π
Went to Hannaford and got groceries. πjust a lot of miscellaneous things that the pantry was low on π₯ͺ π§, as it’s been a week and a half since I’ve been to a store bar Stewart’s for milk π₯. I was going to buy vegetable oil for crisper pancakes π₯ but I got sticker shock π€―. The interwebs say that vegetable oil is way up in prices due to the Ukraine πΊπ¦ and sunflower π» oil being a big part of the mix. Now I’m a bit jealous of my hog farming π½ friends that have freezers full of lard. That said, cutting out some fat from my diet isn’t bad, I’m chubby enough. πΈ
I’ve continued to go through the refrigerator β» looking for bottles to clean and recycle, and also cutting down plastic bottles so they take up less room for recycling now that they are charging by the bag. I plan to clean out my camping gear βΊ in my truck and then make my yearly trip to the transfer station. Now at a higher price thanks to inflation.π
