John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

Doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a real nice day, ☔ so I’m out walking 🚶 early to beat the day. If I was heading out of town I would be finishing up my packing so it’s nice that I don’t have to do that. Maybe next week.

Yesterday got home at six 6⃣ o’clock in theevening and then went to the town park for a while and read 📖. I have this library book on the history of meteorology I’ve been reading on and off.
I had to reformat my SD card 💳 but now I’m able to move podcasts and apps to it so I’m mostly happy with my new phone 📱 now that my apps restored. I do need to copy over my music 🎶, I tried using the USB cable and that was too slow to move 30 gigs of music over. I’ll have to do it directly with the SD card.
Everything now has transferred over pretty well. 🤳 I always worry that when they make you buy an extra month of service with the new phone they won’t properly credit it on your account, but it was a seamless process this time like last time. The extra month credit just shows up in my account, so I shouldn’t get billed in June. So the net cost of the new phone is just $35 not $90 because I won’t be paying for the service next month. Didn’t even have to activate the new phone — I just swapped the sim cards, and additional time was automatically credited to my account. So I’m happy it all worked out. now that I have my apps on my phone, I’m am pretty happy with them too.
Doesn’t look to be the nicest Memorial Day Weekend ever but it often isn’t. I’m hoping for better weather next weekend but at this point I think it almost will be most likely the third week of June before I get out of town. This summer just is kind of tough with high gas prices – got to pick and choose the best weekends.

Decided to do my morning walk 🚶 before breakfast 🥣 and then do the express bus 🚍 and skip walking the Plaza as lately the early express has been running so late due to the school 🚸 run they do before. That shouldn’t be such an issue come the summer.
Got home 🏡 at six o’clock last night, the ordinary time. Played with my new phone – in other words tried to get it working properly and then walked 🚶 down to the town park 🏞 for a while and participated in a call about the Rapp Road Historical Society.
On Sunday afternoon my old phone 📱 shorted out ⚡when I was using it – the cord got really hot and the charge port melted. So the past few days I’ve been without a phone which you don’t really realize how dependent you are on it until you don’t have it – bus schedules, clock, music, blogging, social media, the entire way I get on the internet when I’m not at work. The new phone came yesterday and I’m getting things reset for it now.
So far I don’t like my new phone 📱 it’s having a lot of issues. It’s just different from my old phone, the buttons are different and I’m having trouble getting apps and podcasts to move to the SD card. 💳 I think it’s either a formatting issue or permissions. Hoping that I can just format the SD card and not have to root things. Usually Straight Talk doesn’t lock 🔒 their phones. I do wish there was an open source alternative to Android.
It feels werid staying in town for Memorial Day Weekend 🏡 but the thing is that the weather does not look great and with session ending next week taking off time in June when there isn’t crowds makes more sense. 🏖 I just want a nice hot weekend for floating in the tube. ⚫

If you punch in your clutch now, you can maybe coast into the Memorial Day Weekend. With gas prices so high, that might be an advisable option, as nobody as has the money these days to be riding the accelerator hard on their car.

A nice morning for the walk. 🚶♀️ I was out walking a little after 6 AM because the sun was out and shining and I was awake. Came home, had breakfast and took an early local to work. I am thinking one summer gets underway and session is done, I might do the early morning walk, then shower and take the later express downtown, 🚌 rather then taking the early express and walking the plaza. Things are lot cooler early in the morning. 🌅 At some point I fully expect the summer heat and humidity to return.
A pretty late night at work, 👨💼 I had a meeting that ran until 9 PM and then caught the local home. Interesting presentation but there where two off them and it went too long. At least they got us dinner. 🌯 I guess late nights at work are something to expect this time of year, and it’s good that next week should hopefully be the last big hurrah and then things get quiet for a while.
I am thinking about possibly catching the Nature Bus from Five Rivers to the Pine Bush on Saturday 🌲 and doing some hiking there, although I have to think about how the schedule will work. I am just too busy to head out of town this weekend, but maybe next. 🏕 The farther you get away from Memorial Day Weekend the less bad the black flies will be 🐜 plus I would rather take some weekday off where it’s quiet and I can camp 🏕 where I want and spend the days floating in the rubber intertube. ⚫ With gas prices what they are these days, ⛽ nobody wants to drive anywhere they don’t have to, me included.
The following weekend I might head north 🏕 or maybe wait another weekend depending on the weather. I also am due for an oil change, tire rotation and other maintance on Big Red. I would like to get away for 3-4 nights, come June.
