John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.
Okay, maybe a bit too soon to be thinking autumn, but the humidity and heat should be dialed back come the weekend. Should be a nice one for taking the Nature Bus to Thacher Park and hiking around there.

Went to the laundromat and grocery store last night. π I have what I need for the week now but would like to wash my truck before the weekend. π»
Things these days are just so busy at work. π The pile of things just got larger at work while I was gone. With the heat and humidity I haven’t done very good at getting my steps π£ in since getting back home. Plus I haven’t been feeling well at all. It really is a combination of it all.
Maybe I do wish it was more then just a loose lug nut on my truck, and I was still stuck back in Ithaca. Actually I don’t, because of the cost of a hotel and having to get my truck fixed, and alas I’m catching the bus downtown, stumbling my way to work.
Partly sunny and 74 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Light southerly wind. The dew point is 71 degrees. The muggy weather ends Friday around 3 am. π The breeze actually helps keeps it a bit cooler, though come this afternoon it will be hot and muggy again.
Well, yesterday was quite the adventure getting back home. π Saturday evening as I was pulling up to the Watkins Glen Pool, I started to hear a sqweak-clunk, not super loud at first but noticable as I rolled down into in the parking for the pool.
I missed the worse of the most recent heat wave while I was out in the Finger Lakes, although the weekend was still hot but nothing like the mugginess and misery of Albany. But my office is air conditioned and by the evening when I get home it should have cooled down a bit. Hopefully it won’t be so hot when I have to go to the laundromat later tonight. At least it gets dark early now, back east, so that should help make the heat break earlier. Weekend currently looks real nice. I did bring my rain coat today.
