John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

I keep penciling ✏ in my ideas for Mission Fifty, my plans for my life at age 50 and how to get there. I have been doing a lot of research into financial literacy and how to make a better budget and minimizing expenses on things that really don’t bring you joy. 💵 Mission Fifty isn’t primarily about money but having adequate resources and spending them in ways that is meaningful to you is key to living a good life. 🚜 I’m in a position where I can turn my life around if I only do the right thing for myself and don’t get distracted by silliness like consumerism and politics, the two things that destroy so many lives – things we should remember on this January 6th, a day when thousands of lives were tragically sacrificed for politics. 😔

Lately they’re has been a lot of promotion of an article about how to find secret cameras in AirBNB homes. I get it, you own a house and your renting it out, you might want to make sure nobody is destroying your property while your gone. But I think it’s generally just creepy to be staying in some random person’s home or even a hotel. While I sometimes stay in hotels or other people’s houses for work, it certainly would not be my choice if I could avoid it during travel.
I just much prefer to be camping in the wilderness then in any urban area. I like to be able to have fires, make as much noise as I want, stay up late. Chances are except for walking back in the woods and getting caught on some random hunters’ game camera, no one is going to be watching me, and I won’t be sitting on some person’s sofa with bed bugs or who know what ever else you might find in someone’s house. If I spill something in the wilderness, and I can’t fully clean it up, it doesn’t matter, as it will either rot or get eaten by the wildlife.

Took care of the dentist bill I got yesterday. Last summer my insurer sent me a check for the “out-of-network” visit because my dentist screwed up the paperwork. I set the check I got aside and then waited to hear from the dentist. The bill was the same as the check, so I just online paid my dentist and deposited the check. I thought about getting the SEFCU app and doing a mobile deposit, but I don’t trust my phone is secure, that is compared to my computer that is offline a lot of time, and I keep up to date with Linux security updates.
Tomorrow is the rescheduled holiday party at work 🍪 🎄 so I’m going to need to get to the store 🏬 tonight. Been running low on groceries for a while as I did only a quick shop last week after washing my truck and returning the shit ton of beer cans that had been accumulating since spring. ♻

Facebook has decided that I want to buy a farm tractor 🚜 and been showing me what is available locally. They’re more affordable than you’d think if your looking at the compact to mid-size and not the big monster tractors many of the dairies use. But the hell of it is that I don’t even own any dirt or livestock yet. But like looking at land it’s just for fun. Not this year. Maybe though it’s part of Mission Fifty I’m working on.

Been giving a lot of thought 💭 to what I’m calling my Mission Fifty Plan. I decided that I was dissatisfied with 2022, I’m living my life too much like a 25 year old and I really need to change. 👴🏻 I need to figure out in more detail what I want my life to look like in ten years when I’m fifty, and build more concrete goals beyond save a lot of money so someday I can own my own land 🚜.
It really needs to be a number 🔢 driven plan, and it shouldn’t be the same thing I’ve been doing all along. I’m making progress on my goals 🥅 although I’m not sure I fully understand what my goals are. 🧮 At the same time I don’t want to back slide on all the progress I’ve gotten done so far.
