Partridge Run Game Management Area

Partridge Run Wildlife Management Area (WMA) consists of about 4500 acres of upland and wetland habitat in Albany County. It is located in the Town of Berne. The majority of the current WMA was transferred to the New York State in 1962 by the federal government. The WMA can be access from County Rt. 13, County Rt. 6 and a number of town roads. Numerous parking areas are located throughout the WMA. This parcel of public land affords multiple uses for outdoor recreation including hunting, trapping, fishing, birding, hiking, snowmobiling, skiing, and horseback riding.

Walking the Ridgeline

Walking the ridge line again at Partridge Run over the Switz Kill Valley. 🚢

I could have used my skis 🎿 there is a lot more snow up here than I originally expected. But my muck boots are good and dry and I can walk anywhere with the boots here and there is very little ice to my surprise.

I actually really like walking along the ridge and looking down at the rural landscape below. The farm fields and hills are always real pretty in the winter.

Despite Tough Going

The puppy still looked thrilled. Both him and I struggled through the snow, but once we made it back to the snowmobile trail, it was real easy going the last 1/2 mile back to the truck.
