Delmar is a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, in Albany County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of the neighboring city of Albany. The community is bisected by NY Route 443 (Delaware Avenue), a major thoroughfare, main street, and route to Albany.
A census-designated place (CDP) has been established since 1980 by the U.S. Census Bureau for tabulating the population of what the census has defined as the boundaries of the urbanized area in and around Delmar. The population was 8,292 at the 2000 census, but it was not included as a CDP in the 2010 census.
In 2005, CNN/Money Magazine named the Delmar ZIP Code (an area larger than the Delmar hamlet or CDP) as one of the “Best Places to Live” in America, rating it the 22nd best place to live among what it called “Great American Towns.
Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Currently sunny and 39 degrees with a light breeze from the south. Cold start this morning, reminds me of November but still remarkably nice day on tap for mid-March. Already rapidly warming up quite a bit.
Today will be sunny, with a high near 63. That’s pretty awesome for mid-March. Light south wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. That’s about 20 degrees above normal. The record high of 69 degrees was set back in 2012.

Tomorrow with the time change, the sun won’t set until after 7 pm. Don’t forget to spring your clocks forward. I got up early this morning and already moved my clocks forward, trying to get a jump on daylight savings time this morning.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 38. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northwest after midnight. That’s about 14 degrees above normal. The record low of -6 degrees was set back in 1885.
There are 3 months until Flag Day when the sun will be setting at 8:34 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature for Flag Day is 77 degrees, with a record high of 94 in 1949.
Heading out to Schoharie County to do some hiking and truck cap camping, the first of the year. Almost all packed just need to take a shower and buy some lantern mantels at Wally World.
Plan to hike up Vromans Nose today, and then probably hike around Mine Kill State Park tomorrow but plans could change. It should be a really nice weekend.
Checked the fluids and they look good in the truck but I think I should add some more brake fluid and anti freeze as they both are a quarter inch below the line. Not a critical thing though. The oil is good. Due for routine maintenance, will take it some place to do that some week in early April.
Installed Waze 4.0 on my phone. Had some problems getting it going on my memory limited phone but now it seems to be working well. It’s such a part of my driving experience now, that I would find it hard to drive without – mostly for the speedometer and maps but also q
Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! We have a nice weekend approaching. Currently partly cloudy and 50 degrees with a 8 mph north-northeast wind. I opened the windows this morning again.

Closer to what we should be expecting for this time of year and a brief break with below freezing temperatures. The record low of -12 degrees was set back in 1948.
There are 1 month, 25 days until Cinco de Mayo when the sun will be setting at 8:01 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature for Cinco de Mayo is 66 degrees, with a record high of 91 in 1944.
Happy Birthday to Rupert Murdoch who turns 81 years old today. He is most famous for his conservative news media including Faux News and the NY P.O.S.T.
Today in 1861, the confederacy enacted it’s constitution which remained in effect until the northern aggressors told the southern states they weren’t free to leave the United States. Or something like that. I guess it depends what part of the country you are from and your perspective on the Civil War.
Much to dislike of many southerners, Bill Clinton appointed Janet Reno to be Attorney General today in 1993. I’m sure at times both parts of the country have to wonder if the war was worth it.
Also today in 2009,ย Toyota sold the millionth hybrid car in the United States, showing that these fuel-sipping cars could go mainstream. The Toyota Prisus remains the most popular car in the State of California, in part because of the benefits one gets in that state for driving a hybrid like being able to use the car pool lane solo.
Good evening! Currently it’s pouring out there and 60 degrees with a 7 mph south wind. The dew point is a comfortable 56 degrees if you are out of the rain.
It’s raining hard enough tonight I got a bit damp but not wet out out waiting for the bus. Traffic is moving slowly heading north out of downtown and heading south with the rain, I’m sure not exactly flying either. Rain covered roads can be slick, so it’s good to take your time.
If the heavy rain continues I may just stay home this evening. We will see. I’m tired and there is some videos I’d like to watch on my laptop.
Remember if it wasn’t so darn warm, this heavy rain instead could be a lot of snow. It is only March 10th. Some years we get some real big blizzards in March. I’m certainly not discounting the fact that we may get a heavy snow storm before the end of winter. But it won’t happen until late March or early April, which means that the snow regardless of how deep it is, won’t last.
Tonight the sun will set at 5:57 pm with darkness around 6:25 pm, which is 1 minutes and 11 seconds later than yesterday. In four weeks on April 7 the sun will be setting at 7:29 pm (Daylight Savings Time), which is 1 hour and 32 minutes later then today.
Tonight we have a Waxing Cresent Moon with 13% illuminated. It will set at 7:29 pm. The First Quarter Moon is next Thursday and the March’s Full Worm Moon is on March 22nd.
Tonight look for some more rain, mainly before 3am. Low around 45. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A very mild evening on tap, about 21 degrees above normal. The record low of -10 degrees was set back in 1939. We can still have some pretty frigid evenings this time of year.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the forecast only seems to improve. Saturday will be sunny, with a high near 61. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Saturday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 39. Sunday will be partly sunny, with a high near 58. I may have to go into the office on Saturday morning but it should be an exceptionally nice weekend if the forecast is to believed.
Pretty busy day today at work. The important thing is that I kept things moving along. Tomorrow is a new day with new adventures. I really hope I can get out of town and this weekend promises to be as nice as the early forecasts suggest.
I hope your Thursday is going well. Have a great evening!
Good morning! Happy Thursday. Currently cloudy and 58 degrees with calm wind. The dew point is creeping up to 53 degrees. It is already raining in the Adirondacks and the rain will be heading south in the next few hours.
Walked down to the express bus stop with nothing more than a t-shirt and a rain coat. It is nice not having the heat on and the windows open to hear the birds in the morning. I know this warm weather won’t last so it’s best to enjoy if while you still can.
Today look for rain, mainly after 10am. High near 67. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Continued warmth today, with temperatures about 25 degrees above normal. The record high of 72 degrees was set back in 1977. We aren’t expected to break the record today, especially with the rain coming.
Tonight the sun will set at 5:57 pm with darkness around 6:25 pm, which is 1 minutes and 11 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 11 hours and 43 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.
Tonight look for more rain, mainly before 3am. Low around 43. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. There are 1 month, 8 days until Tax Day when the sun will be setting at 7:41 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature for Tax Day is 60 degrees, with a record high of 90 in 1976.
While I doubt you’d want to wish him a happy birthday, today is the birthday of the lateย James Earl Ray, assassin ofย Martin Luther King, Jr. He passed away in 1998. Today in 1969, he plead guilty to the assassination and then unsuccessfully tried to withdraw the plea, claiming he was coerced into the plea by the federal prosecutor. Who knows, there is a lot of lingering questions about the role of J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI in the assassination.
Good morning! What day is it? A very nice Hump Day, of course. Currently mostly sunny and 54 degrees with a 10 mph south wind. Endless summer has arrived once again. The heat is off and the windows are open. The fresh breeze in the morning is definitely nice. I don’t see the need for the heat for the foreseeable future but some nights like last will warrant closing the windows.
Today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. That’s about 31 degrees above normal. In other words, really nice weather for March is expected. The record high of 68 degrees set back in 2000 will be smashed and I’ll have to update the records.csv file on my blog.
Tonight the sun will set at 5:56 pm with darkness around 6:24 pm, which is 1 minutes and 12 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 11 hours and 40 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday. Saturday night we spring ahead our clocks to start Daylight Savings Time. Long summer evenings are in the future.
Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. That’s about 32 degrees above normal. The record low of 0 degrees was set back in 1996. Today in history, there has never been a day below zero at least within city limits.
There are 1 month, 16 days until Arbor Day when the sun will be setting at 7:49 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature for Arbor Day is 63 degrees, with a record high of 89 in 2009. Today will be warmer then your typical Arbor Day.
I am looking forward to a nice weekend and spending some time not camping in cold winter weather. The weekend looks very nice and the evenings mild enough to warrant truck cap camping. No heater needed. Still an early sunset but I’ll set my clock ahead early to get into practice.
RIP George Martin the famed Beatles producer who arranged much of the unique sound of the most popular records of all time. It was a Hard Day’s Night without him.
Today in 1933, President Franklin D. Rooseveltย submits theย Emergency Banking Actย to Congress, the first of hisย New Dealย policies. You could make the case that today was the start of the New Deal.
Good evening! Currently partly clear and 48 degrees with calm wind. It has cleared out a bit from earlier this evening and now you can see the stars pretty good. Depending on which model you look at the temperature will drop 1-3 degrees by morning with skies that get progressively clearer as we head towards day break.
Neighbors have a campfire going out back. I thought about heading out back but I’m tired and I want to get to bed by 10. If I went back there I’d probably be out there until after midnight and wake up with a hangover. Not appropriate for a busy day at work tomorrow when I need to get an early start.
Went for my evening walk. It was pretty nice. Opened the windows up for a while and had a beer out back. I turned off the central heat, I don’t envision needing it in the next seven days. It won’t get below freezing or even that cold.
Tomorrow the sun will rise at 6:15 am with the first light at 5:47 am, which is 1 minutes and 42 seconds earlier then today. Should be a good morning to watch the sun rise.
The latest model are calling for partly sunny, with a record breaking high near 70. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. That’s about 29 degrees above normal. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2000.
To put it into perspective, average high in four weeks on Wednesday April 6th is 54 degrees, and the record for that date is 82 degrees was set back in 1928.
I hope you had a good day. Should be a nice night for sleeping
Good night !
Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Currently it’s partly sunny and 45 degrees with calm wind. There is some blue sky out there, especially to the south. A lot of haze this morning in places though.
Today will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Light and variable wind. That’s about 16 degrees above normal. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2012. I remember that heat wave we had in 2012, although with climate change it seems like March is the month warming up the most important quickly. Not record breaking but we will be heading into that territory tomorrow with highs expected to reach the upper 60s.

The record low of -14 degrees was set back in 1943. Cold weather is still possible this time of year, even if the next few days are expected to be pretty mild. Still negative records are getting less frequent and usually just the single digits as we head towards spring.
There are 1 month, 28 days until Cinco de Mayo when the sun will be setting at 8:01 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature for Cinco de Mayo is 66 degrees, with a record high of 91 in 1944. Springtime is nice.
Happy Birthday toย Micky Dolnez of The Monkees. He turns a happy 71 today. Then I saw her face, and now I’m a believer.
Today in 1971, Philipsย demonstrates theย compact discย publicly for the first time. Nowadays CDs seem like a technology relegated to landfills and burn barrels like the 8 tracks, reduced to rubble and smoke. I can’t remember the last time I played music on a CD. Time sure goes past quickly.
On that note, have a great Tuesday. The weekend will be here before you know it. The next stop is mine.
