I hear that Friday is National Ride Your Bike to Work day, and it would be a lot of fun to drive to work in my big jacked up truck, and honk at the woke cyclists and give them the middle finger. I know I need a train horn in my truck, and if I only gotten that amplifier and horn to work with my CB radio I could have screamed at them or played audio at them.
You know the woke cyclists who participate in Bike to Work Day, are the kind who drive fancy French bicycles, eat organic tofu other werid crap and wouldnโt think of riding their bike any other day to work except the holiday, which gives them a chance to publically masterbate in their own minds. It would be so much fun to honk at them, and watch as their vegan shit runs through their PFOA-enhanced Spandex on their once a year ride to work. That said, I think itโs going to rain tomorrow and I have meetings downtown, so it doesnโt make sense to drive in. Unless maybe I can get the wheel from the Woke Bike Shop which is supposed to arrive today. I am actually thinking of holding off driving over there until I can Sunday as thatโs when I can probably borrow dadโs drills to widen the tire stem hole to fix the Schrader valve, plus Saturday is going to rain and Iโd rather stay home and read. Already that time of the month when my Hoopla Borrows will be expiring soon. I got the cassette off the bike โ โ some how cracking the hub โ it was really frozen off, disc brake and spoke protector, so I have all the parts, just need the wheel now and to expand the valve stem hole.
I make such fun of the libtards, but it really gets me about their fake wokeness that has come to dominate liberalism these days. The whole organic thing is such a scam as is nutrition influencers and so much of this do-gooderism around the environment. I was thinking about how pissed I was when the burn ban went into effect in the early 2010s, and I started using Styrofoam plates and forks both at camp and often at home during the summer months, mostly so I could fill those big black garbage sacks quicker and turn them into carbon dioxide in rip roaring fires up in the wilderness. Made the wet crap burn better. Fuck yeah. Stopped doing that after the pandemic when inflation made both plastic forks and disposable plates more expensive, plus it seemed like such a waste to be spending money to turn into carbon dioxide when itโs not difficult to wash dishes. Now I generally use my reusable metal forks and mylar dishes up at camp and wash them like a greenie. And letโs be honest, I ride my bike most days โ year round โ that is when itโs running fine, both for enjoyment and saving money. Other days, like today I bus it in. I hate dealing with city traffic and cops everywhere. And I donโt eat a lot meat, like the vegans, mainly because I try to be healthy and watch my saturated fats and calories. I am certainly not afraid to look at vegetarian and vegan cookbooks, but I donโt do the woke thing and buy processed foods, just because it has a label that says organic and healthy. I do use tofu for lunch at times as itโs cheap protein that doesnโt spoil, and itโs sometimes organic as thatโs whatโs available. Tofu fries up nicely too in olive oil with veggies and is cheap. And I do recycle all metals and sometimes plastics, and certainly try to avoid buying shit I donโt need so I can save to buy land for that off grid homestead. The one with the burn barrel out back.
So busing it in today. I am looking forward to having my bike back on the road, hopefully by Monday. The first half of the week of the looks good for riding in though rain for the second half of next week, : and I have a feeling that Memorial Day Weekend will be rainy and generally shit. Itโs the first week for the Nature Bus to Thacher Park during Memorial Day Weekend, so it would be good option if I stayed in town. I could ride a bit, hike some, I donโt know, hang out. Though I wouldnโt mind heading out of town to the Green Mountains or Adirondacks to camp and hang out for the three day weekend too. Made banana-oatmeal pancakes up with fresh fruit this morning, Made two loaves of bread to enjoy later, plus a big pan of rice and beans, so I could use up some of those 2 lb of black beans I cooked yesterday. Lots of good eats. I always try to include lots of beans in my meals, so itโs a good source of protein, and with rice, it makes a complete protein, and is not only healthy but affordable when most meat is going up in price and those Omega-6 fats arenโt all that great for you.
Eyes have been bothering me again including the right one where I just put in a new contact lens. I really think I want to make the investment in LASIK this autumn as my contacts run low so Iโm not wasting them. But then I wonโt ever have to order contacts again. With inflation, LASIK would pay for itself in a decade and no more eye doctors visits not that Iโve been there in four years ordering them online. It would be so nice not having to dig around for the glasses in the morning. Or dealing with irrated eyes on rainy days like this or up at camp. And it would be one less thing to have to buy in the future. Advertising says the cost is $4k but with inflation and reality I figure $5k though maybe my eye benefits at work will cover some of it like the eye exam. I should research it further.
Wearing the rain coat to work which ensures no rain today though it will be like yesterday walking home from the park in the rain without the rain coat. My rain coat doesnโt fit well since I lost so much weight and looks silly but it generally keeps me fairly dry.
