Panic over a cream cheese shortage started earlier this month when The New York Times reported that delis across the city were scrambling for schmear. And it grew last week when popular chain Junior's Cheesecake said it was periodically pausing production of its signature product, citing insufficient supply of the key ingredient.
Food distributors and company spokespeople say various factors are to blame, from a labor shortage and scarcity of packing supplies to sustained demand as a result of more people eating breakfast at home and baking with cream cheese (two particularly pandemic-friendly pastimes).
This table shows the average high, median, and low temperatures for the next year. Previous year values are shown in parenthesis. The sun angle is the maximum sun angle at solar noon for the day.
Sunny but the temperature will be dropping today 🌞
That wind won’t help much. And then snow tomorrow 🌨 though not that much is predicted. But it might change my plans for next week – I’m not sure if I will go out to Central NY with possible snow lingering through Sunday and I’m a bit concerned that the roads will be icy.
After such a mild week, ❄ next week looks to pretty cold. I have that week off but I’m undecided where I will go but I do want to get out of town for a few days. Maybe just the Adirondacks. Not totally sure. I could always stay home part of the week. I do have projects that I could work on at home although I have all winter to do them and come January I doubt I’ll be traveling much.
I think I will get propane tonight 🏮 and maybe some more under shirts but I think I will have enough clothes for camping if I do head out of town so I can probably skip the laundromat this week. I can reevaluate tomorrow and if I decide to leave Sunday pack on Saturday. I just want to see the final forecast before deciding.

I am up early this morning like most, and I walked down to the early express bus 🚍. The early express is running late again. But I should still have time to walk laps on the Plaza on this fairly mild morning.
Last work day for me before Christmas 🤶🏻 as I took off next week as the director had next week off. We are closing the office today 🏢 today at two but I’ll probably stay until 4 pm so I can just take the early express home. 🚍 I’d rather take the express home and I’m in no rush to get home. I have internet at work and my laptop 🖥 is there.
I saw they changed my phone plan 📱 so it’s now unlimited data, well 60 GB technically but that’s a lot of data to use on a phone. But they cut the hot spot to 5 GB but that’s fine as half the time I don’t have my laptop at home 🖥 and if remote work starts up, with the new plans they’re offering it’s just $10 extra for the 15 gb plan. That really is plenty especially if I reserve the hot spot for work and use the phone for all video.
After the rain last night, 63 degrees later. And sun! 😎
Just a one day break from winter, not that it’s been that cold this winter. Friday is going to be 52 degrees, which isn’t that bad then rain and snow for Saturday. I think I’ll probably stay in town on Saturday and then head out on Sunday. Not totally sure if it’s to Central NY then Finger Lakes, or directly that way or the Adirondacks, still considering my options though I want to get out of town part of the time I’m off next week. The cold and sunny come Monday. Yes, see the word cold!

The day they celebrate dumping source-separated organic waste into the Boston Harbor. 🐷 I guess they still do, although farther out with a big underwater pipe to reduce nitrogen concentrations and fish kills near the harbor. That said, I never was much of a tea drinker myself. ☕ My drug of choice is coffee but never much past 8 AM if I want to get sleep.
That said, I do admire those tea-party type folks, as I think there is too much government in our lives, I love my guns, fires, and big jacked up truck. And those little towns that smell like silage and cow shit. And I don’t like paying a shit ton of taxes to make the government enforcers wealthier and have their jack-boots on our throats. So Happy Tea Party Day, Don’t Tread on Me.
The rain is dun, it’s now cloudy and 46 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁️ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. Sun later but mild. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 5 am. ☃️ Maybe a little bit of snow on Saturday or maybe all rain.
Yesterday was sort of fun as holiday work from home day, 🎅 in the sense that I didn’t have to shower 🛀 or look all purty before work, 👔 and I missed the rain, ☔ coming home although I didn’t get in as many steps in as it was raining by evening. It was nice having virtually unlimited bandwidth, 📶 as my phone plan expires today, so anything below 25 GB high speed quota is lost. That said, my new office is pretty nice, especially with the new computers and the monitor I can hook my laptop too. And I just like how the office is laid out.
Working remotely was fine for one day, 🏡 it let me test out my equipment and make sure that it still worked. Booting Winders 10 was slow as shit 🖥 but I was able to get on the VPN so it’s good that it still works okay. It was good, by afternoon I felt like shit 💩 from the COVID-19 and TDAP boosters. Both arms are a bit still sore from the shots. 🙋🏻♂️
The next two days it’s back to working downtown, 🏢 and then I have a week off. That said, it seems like the best weather days are the days I’m working downtown, not the Monday I took off or the work at home day. So be it. I can’t control the weather, only my attitude. 😀 Monday looks like it will be so cold, so I may want to pack lots of warm clothes ♨️ and maybe set up the tent on Sunday for hot tenting.
I survived my COVID-19 and tetanusshots. 💉I get that the vaccine is essentially poison, but so is many things in life, and it was pretty bad for a while yesterday afternoon, although eventually it wore off. I took the advice of the nurse and kept moving my arms and drinking a shit ton of water 🥛 but all that water did was make me have to visit the loo a lot. 🚽 I guess my hope was to feel not so bad by staying well hydrated as the nurse suggested, but I don’t think it worked. 🤮 It was fine but like last time it was awful about 20 hours after the shot. I hope this is the final COVID booster or at least they fix it so it’s not nasty.
Dang thing about it is I’m no longer afraid of needles, I’m basically a heroin addict with all vaccines I’ve gotten over the past few years. 💉 Plus those needles are so tiny and thin, that they are practically just a infinitesimally small prick. Do I love it? Fuck no, but what’s the alternative? I hate doctors but you got to pay the racket if you want to hurt less. 😳
I wanted to catch the earlier express downtown 🚏but that didn’t happen as I decided I need to clip my hair 💇🏻♂️ as it was getting a little messy. 💈 I have to admit I’m not much of barber and I always end up with badly cut clumbs of hair but I started cutting my own hair during the pandemic as the barber shops were closed and I’m still not sure I’m that comfortable getting so close to a barber, even though I’ve been boosted and suffered the after of misery after that.😒
