The day they celebrate dumping source-separated organic waste into the Boston Harbor. ๐ท I guess they still do, although farther out with a big underwater pipe to reduce nitrogen concentrations and fish kills near the harbor. That said, I never was much of a tea drinker myself. โ My drug of choice is coffee but never much past 8 AM if I want to get sleep.
That said, I do admire those tea-party type folks, as I think there is too much government in our lives, I love my guns, fires, and big jacked up truck. And those little towns that smell like silage and cow shit. And I don’t like paying a shit ton of taxes to make the government enforcers wealthier and have their jack-boots on our throats. So Happy Tea Party Day, Don’t Tread on Me.
The rain is dun, it’s now cloudy and 46 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ๏ธ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐. Sun later but mild. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 5 am. โ๏ธ Maybe a little bit of snow on Saturday or maybe all rain.
Yesterday was sort of fun as holiday work from home day, ๐ in the sense that I didn’t have to shower ๐ or look all purty before work, ๐ and I missed the rain, โ coming home although I didn’t get in as many steps in as it was raining by evening. It was nice having virtually unlimited bandwidth, ๐ถ as my phone plan expires today, so anything below 25 GB high speed quota is lost. That said, my new office is pretty nice, especially with the new computers and the monitor I can hook my laptop too. And I just like how the office is laid out.
Working remotely was fine for one day, ๐ก it let me test out my equipment and make sure that it still worked. Booting Winders 10 was slow as shit ๐ฅ but I was able to get on the VPN so it’s good that it still works okay. It was good, by afternoon I felt like shit ๐ฉ from the COVID-19 and TDAP boosters. Both arms are a bit still sore from the shots. ๐๐ปโ๏ธ
The next two days it’s back to working downtown, ๐ข and then I have a week off. That said, it seems like the best weather days are the days I’m working downtown, not the Monday I took off or the work at home day. So be it. I can’t control the weather, only my attitude. ๐ Monday looks like it will be so cold, so I may want to pack lots of warm clothes โจ๏ธ and maybe set up the tent on Sunday for hot tenting.
I survived my COVID-19 and tetanusshots. ๐I get that the vaccine is essentially poison, but so is many things in life, and it was pretty bad for a while yesterday afternoon, although eventually it wore off. I took the advice of the nurse and kept moving my arms and drinking a shit ton of water ๐ฅ but all that water did was make me have to visit the loo a lot. ๐ฝ I guess my hope was to feel not so bad by staying well hydrated as the nurse suggested, but I don’t think it worked. ๐คฎ It was fine but like last time it was awful about 20 hours after the shot. I hope this is the final COVID booster or at least they fix it so it’s not nasty.
Dang thing about it is I’m no longer afraid of needles, I’m basically a heroin addict with all vaccines I’ve gotten over the past few years. ๐ Plus those needles are so tiny and thin, that they are practically just a infinitesimally small prick. Do I love it? Fuck no, but what’s the alternative? I hate doctors but you got to pay the racket if you want to hurt less. ๐ณ
I wanted to catch the earlier express downtown ๐but that didn’t happen as I decided I need to clip my hair ๐๐ปโ๏ธ as it was getting a little messy. ๐ I have to admit I’m not much of barber and I always end up with badly cut clumbs of hair but I started cutting my own hair during the pandemic as the barber shops were closed and I’m still not sure I’m that comfortable getting so close to a barber, even though I’ve been boosted and suffered the after of misery after that.๐
The party’s defeat last month in Virginia — and closer-than-expected victory in New Jersey — has many Democrats searching for an off-ramp to the pandemic that allows them to sell a brighter future to voters next November.

This morning started out nice, but rain is expected by evening. ๐ฆ
Today I am working from home, ๐จ๐ป so I won’t have to worry about getting caught in the rain, but I might have to skip my evening walk due to the rain. It doesn’t look like it will last and tomorrow should be nice. Too bad tomorrow it’s back to working back downtown, but the one day of remote work should be fun — and give me a chance to fully recover from my COVID-19 and TDAP shot.
I don’t know about getting out of town on Saturday, โ it looks like rain, but maybe Sunday through at least mid-week. Hard to say how much snow there will be, probably not a lot, but it really could vary especially if I decide to go out to Central NY and Cazenovia. Even though I have new tires and a 4×4, I don’t want to mess with either snow or ice if I can avoid it — might instead go directly to the Finger Lakes, where at least I know the road will be lowed.
Did you notice that tomorrow, we are picking up some daylight in the evening? ๐ Only a minute, but you have to start somewhere. It will be nice to come home and not be pitch black, especially when walking home from the Park and Ride. Certainly by February — which seems distant, but really isn’t at this point.

Also work from home day for me, so that’s good as it’s fun to be reminded of the routine that once was. Out for the morning walk, then I’ll head back inside and get down to work. Nice not having to shower o get cleaned up before work. Breaks up the week, saves time otherwise lost from commuting back to work.
Partly cloudy and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ Calm wind. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. ๐ก๏ธ
A little cool but a pretty nice morning. ๐ That said, I don’t think the sunny skies are expected to stick around all day. I wish we had the weather they are talking about for tomorrow — temperatures in the sixties and sunny. That said, the long range doesn’t look bad for next week. I’m out for my morning walk now, ๐ถโ๏ธ then it’s working from home. Just this one day — it was something we did as part of the Holiday Spirit Week. ๐คถ The old days of remote work are history, ๐ฉ๐ป it’s all about the muzzle ๐ท and working in the office again.
So far I feel okay from the COVID-vaccine and TDAP booster I got last night, ๐ although I’ve been really hitting the water both today and last night hard, hoping that I won’t get dehydrated and feel like shit by mid-day today — usually it’s about 24 hours after the vaccine that in my experience I start to feel really awful. But I guess a few hours feeling sick is better then getting the COVID.
I walked down to CVS last night, and got my shot. ๐ฉโ๏ธ It was a bit of a wait, there was a ton of people there, but I had my 7 pm reservation and I was out of there by 7:40 or so, including my 15 minute observation period. It was fine, good to have, as I really don’t want to get the COVID. My phone was close to dead, as I didn’t charge it at work but I found a podcast to listen to and with the screen dimmed, passed my time, glancing over at that weird rack of bibles and religious books they had for sale, ๐ next to the place where you wait for your shot. I guess if the vaccination kills you, there is always time to find religion.
On Monday, when I had it off, they installed new computers in my office. ๐ป They have beautiful new monitors, with web cams which are perfect for Zoom meetings. Now I mostly use my laptop these days for work, except when I need a file off the server or to final proof something in Word, but I usually keep a cable in the office to hook my laptop to the keyboard and monitor. The new monitors are 1920x1080p so they don’t have the scaling artifacts — fuxiness that the old ones did with my laptop. I am as a happy as a pig in shit ๐ท with those news screens.
I got the Coleman Lantern Globe ๐ฎ mom ordered for me on Amazon. It was $11 including tax, something I’ll have to remember. This way I’ll have a back up lantern to use for camping, as those globes breaking seems to be a fairly common occurrence. I know people are moving away from propane lanterns, but they sure are convenient with 20 lb tanks — reliable light that never gets over discharged.
The cookie share day at work was fun, and not as stuffing as the normal holiday party with all the fancy cooked meals. Next time I’m just going to buy cookies, my cooking abilities suck. ๐จ๐ณ I do miss the social aspect though of it. It’s just not the same in the era of the COVID.
Mostly clear and 47 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 6 mph. ๐. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 7 pm. โ๏ธ
I kind of burned and over cooked batch after batch of cookies this morning. ๐ช I should have done it last night, but I was stumbling around and kind of tired. ๐ด Which surprises me, because lately I’ve been sleeping a lot better but somehow that did not happen last night. I guess the oven was just too hot.
After I get home, I have to grab a quick bite ๐ and then start walking down to CVS to get my vaccinations. ๐ I could drive but I figure the walking is healthy, and maybe by walking home after the vaccination, it won’t hurt that much. Probably it will suck like a little bitch, but I’d rather get a shot then go to the hospital.
Tomorrow is a work at home day, ๐จ๐ป so I can probably survive after my COVID-booster, and just hang my head low and nobody will have to know how sick I feel. Or so I can pretend.
I am thinking if I do head out of town next weekend, it won’t be until Sunday. ๐ Saturday looks quite wet and rainy. That said, much of the rest of the week looks good. I am going between heading out to Central New York and the Finger Lakes, I might due both depending on how the weather ultimately turns out to be. That said, the nights are long and cold at this point, so I’m not sure if I really want to camp for a full week. But maybe if it’s warm, mild and sunny. ๐
