Here's a not-so-fun fact: The monthly mortgage payment it takes to buy the typical home in the U.S. is now up by a staggering 55% compared with the start of last year. That's because of the dramatic rise in mortgage rates in recent weeks on top of price gains in the hot housing market.
Today, we compare and contrast the threats to two different bats on opposite ends of the planet to show the tension between local and global environmentalism, and how building a green economy is forcing people to have tough conversations about trade-offs

Hello rain, at least you held off for most of the morning walk β
Things are going to be quite wet at least today and showers through the weekend. But warmer weather and sunny next week. Not sure about the second half of the week though if I want to get out of town. I’m hopeful. If not the weather only gets better as spring approaches bar the blsck flies.

Rain showers and 47 degrees in Delmar, NY. β There is a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. π. The skies will clear tomorrow around 2 pm.
It’s not raining that hard that I’m out for my morning walk πΆ. Actually clearing a bit to the east although I expect more rain before I get home.
I have no idea what this weekend or next week looks like. π€·ββοΈ I went to the shitty laundromat mid week because my usual one was closed. I figured I wanted to have enough dress clothes should I be working through the weekend π¨π»βπΌ. I haven’t asked for any time off next week because everything is so up in the air with work. Heck of it is my division isn’t particularly busy with budget stuff.π
Went to Hannaford and got groceries. πjust a lot of miscellaneous things that the pantry was low on π₯ͺ π§, as it’s been a week and a half since I’ve been to a store bar Stewart’s for milk π₯. I was going to buy vegetable oil for crisper pancakes π₯ but I got sticker shock π€―. The interwebs say that vegetable oil is way up in prices due to the Ukraine πΊπ¦ and sunflower π» oil being a big part of the mix. Now I’m a bit jealous of my hog farming π½ friends that have freezers full of lard. That said, cutting out some fat from my diet isn’t bad, I’m chubby enough. πΈ
I’ve continued to go through the refrigerator β» looking for bottles to clean and recycle, and also cutting down plastic bottles so they take up less room for recycling now that they are charging by the bag. I plan to clean out my camping gear βΊ in my truck and then make my yearly trip to the transfer station. Now at a higher price thanks to inflation.π
I was reading that story about the bald eagles being killed by wind turbines and how truly cavalier that one wind company was – didn’t do anything to protect the environment when it came to constructing those turbines.
Renewable energy isn’t a bad thing, but getting favored status shouldn’t mean it’s above the law, that it’s projects can pollute and harm the environment just because it generates kilowatt hours in a low carbon fashion.
The transit of the sun is the mid point of the day, when the sun is due south. This varies based on the time of year, but is halfway point between sunrise and sunset.
