Most People Don’t Need a Covid Vaccine Booster, New Review Says – The New York Times

None of the data on coronavirus vaccines so far provides credible evidence in support of boosters for the general population, according to a review published on Monday by an international group of scientists, including some at the Food and Drug Administration and the World Health Organization.

The 18 authors include Dr. Philip Krause and Dr. Marion Gruber, F.D.A. scientists who announced last month that they will be leaving the agency, at least in part because they disagreed with the Biden administration’s push for boosters before federal scientists could review the evidence and make recommendations.

The Biden administration has proposed administering vaccine boosters eight months after the initial shots. But many scientists have opposed the plan, saying the vaccines continue to be powerfully protective against severe illness and hospitalization. A committee of advisers to the F.D.A. is scheduled to meet on Friday to review the data.

Vaccination should be the least of folks worry

While I do worry about excessive vaccine advocacy and over promising and under delivering on vaccine safety and effectiveness, the truth is it seems like vaccination should be the least of folks worry living in our modern world with so much pollution and often under tested chemicals in common use and disposal.

There are big problems with air pollution from automobiles, factories and buildings in cities that are often under studied and prematurely deemed safe. The mix of tailpipe emissions from cars and buses is enormously toxic, even if it’s not as bad as a few decades ago. Tires become worn and dust, as do brakes leaving their toxic detritus along the road side for all to breathe.

Maybe clean living – eating healthy food and exercise can and does help a lot. But truth be told our environment is filled with toxins all around us thanks to industrialization and technology and there isn’t much we can do to avoid it. Industrial pollution is everywhere.

How Long Does Immunity To COVID-19 Last? : Goats and Soda : NPR

So, how long does immunity last after two doses of the vaccine? Six months or so? And at that point, how much protection is left over?

It all depends on which type of immunity you're talking about, says immunologist Ali Ellebedy at Washington University in St. Louis. Six months after your vaccine, your body may be more ready to fight off the coronavirus than you might think.

"If you were vaccinated six months ago, your immune system has been training for six months — you are better ready to fight a COVID-19 infection," says Ellebedy.

The Biden Administration May Recommend COVID Boosters After 8 Months : NPR

Fully vaccinated Americans could be rolling up their sleeves for another dose of the coronavirus vaccine as soon as next month.

The Biden administration is close to advising fully vaccinated Americans get COVID-19 booster shots eight months after their last vaccine. A source familiar with the discussions among administration health experts said this recommendation could come as soon as this week.
