I was really hopeful for getting out of town this weekend

Three day weekend, but it’s just not going to happen. Monday looks increasingly like snow, and Saturday will be bitterly cold. I mean I can work with the cold, but I think with highs in the single digits on Saturday, especially up north, it ain’t going to happen. I had a vision, but the weather seems to have taken it off the table. Winter just is tough for plans out of town. But I can stay home or go out to Five Rivers, and that won’t cost much money. I was so hoping for hot tenting, having a big ol’ fire, maybe shooting some guns, later on drinking some beer, burning up some of that scrap paper that is filling up the waste basket at home.

At least not so cold today, I was able to turn down the heat. But I am going to have to watch out for ice on the sidewalks with the warmer weather. The predicted sun is nice, but I almost feel like the meteorologists are too optimistic. I’m thinking more clouds will dominate. But only 26 degrees tonight, which is nice for a change, gives the heat a break. Almost 40 come Thursday, which will help with the ice. Almost the ice can be worse then the snow, I don’t want to slip and fall again.

Good morning! Happy Coldest Day Ever Recorded in Albany !

That would be January 12, 1968 when it was negative 26 degrees in Albany, coldest day ever recorded! Interestingly enough, the latest climate normals show the coldest week of the year has shifted a week later. And much warmer than that today. UPDATE – My friend Hugh says that actually January 18, 1971 was colder, 28 below zero.

Partly sunny and 17 degrees at the CDTA Bus Stop #10595. There is a south breeze at 14 mph. . The current wind chill is 3. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 10 am.

Today should make a run at the freezing mark, which will make the black ice fun for the evening walk . I did get out for my evening walk, though not until after slipping on the black ice running to the store to get milk . I hit my knee and it hurt like a mother but I was fine by the time I went for my evening walk. The town side walks weren’t bad, it just was where I was walking in the parking lot. Didn’t rip my pants AFAIK.

My evening walk was pretty good, I am glad I got some steps in, although not the 10,000 steps I go for more nice nights. I probably should have walked on Monday, I was bad and didn’t do that.

Good morning! Happy Dark Thursday. No power still this morning. Next Thursday is Average High is 60 . Mostly sunny and 43 degrees in the land of the Delmartian. There is a west-northwest breeze at 15 mph. with gusts up to 25 mph .

I still can’t believe there is no power in Delmar. There are a few branches down but not a lot. The traffic lights are working mainly because they’re on portable generators. Nice morning though.

I ended up eating breakfast out back. Fresh coffee on a cold but sunny morning is always a good thing. Camp stove works fine without electricity.

Out for my morning walk . I thought they had power back on in Delaware but it’s just a generator.

Today will be sunny , with a high of 59 degrees at 4pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around October 17th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 65 degrees. The record high of 80 was set in 2017.

I guess if you are going to loose power this is the weather to be in the dark. Nights are long but you don’t need heat but it’s cool enough that my refrigerator packed full of ice should be good for a few days.

There's a chance the vaccine could offer some protection against COVID-19 itself, says virologist Robert Gallo, who directs the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is chairman of the Global Virus Network.

The key is getting the right flu vaccine, says Gallo, who was one of the main scientists credited with discovering HIV. "The vaccine has to have a live virus in it. The virus is attenuated so it doesn't cause disease, but otherwise the virus is alive."

Its just not a particularly nice morning with the clouds and the wind . I decided to call off going to Schoharie or Madison County for this week because it doesn’t look really sunny out there for most of the weekend and the wind will make things kind of raw. Plus all the mud and fields covered with cow shit and gray skies can be a bit depressing.

Today will be partly cloudy , with a high of 53 degrees at 4pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 3rd. West wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1946. 17 inches of snow fell back in 2017.

I am going to play it by ear but I don’t expect a real nice weather day although I’ll probably walk out to Five Rivers later. I have some mapping to do, and I am going to read the Rapp Road DEIS more but I’m not a scientist so I don’t know what to really object to but in general.

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Next Wednesday is February Save the Pine Dinner . I better post that event on the Save the Pine Bush page. There is a inch of snow on the ground. ️Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. Listening to Bread Guitar Man heading downtown on this relatively sunny morning.

Yesterday I went over to John Wolcott house and we are mostly finished up on a lot of his unsorted files . It’s been over a year but the project is mostly done. I had no idea that I would be working on it for another year. It’s nice having more time after work to do this these days.

I got home and read for a little more. Almost done with Almost President, my forth or fifth book of the year. I’ve made spending least a half hour each night reading a priority. I look forward to bring a book down to the park to read come the summer although I might not sit in the grass due to the ticks.

I heard Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire primary. That surprises no one with Pete Buttigieg in second. I think that’s fine. I don’t have a strong preference between the candidates. Voted for Sanders in 2016. I don’t like Howie Hawkins at all for the Green Party so I’ll probably vote for the libertarian in the General although I’m sure any rotting carcass could defeat Trump in New York so my vote doesn’t matter. As long as the federal government leaves me alone and keeps my taxes low I don’t have any complaints. I don’t own a television so I don’t have to listen to the mad man pontificating all day long and the pundits analyzing it.

Kind of a damp morning for sure. Blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Made the walk down to the express bus and it’s off to work. Heavy traffic heading into the city but I don’t care I’m not driving. I got a much better night sleep last night because I didn’t drink coffee before bed last night.

Today will have a slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny , with a high of 84 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees above normal.
